MadameGrizzly is a long time poster. There are plenty of other long term posters on these threads who name change for privacy reasons, nothing more sinister than that. I personally think you are nuts if you don't name change, especially if you refer to something you posted on IG on these threads and vice versa. It's not hard to work out from Sofia's previous posts on these threads how an Instamum could work out her Insta name, yet she seems to have a tin hat theory that MP has some magical powers to match names up between the two platforms, which is kind of hilarious.

Sofialemon · 12/07/2018 06:43

@Furfugsache

How could MP match me to my private insta account from here?

My insta name is not related to this name at all? I name change on Mumsnet but have stuck to the same name for these threads. I don't use my names from on here anywhere else.

I've never commented on MP's insta account.

So I'd love you to explain to me how she could work out my insta name?

BeansandSausages · 12/07/2018 07:40

Did you comment on Instagram about any of the mod etc etc discussions? I did and MP asked to follow me from that.

As a pp said she did follow a lot of people who spoke up against the mod knows best brigade.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 12/07/2018 07:42

Cast and Sofia.
I don’t hold them accountable, I am to blame but it is completely unethical that they are playing to a target audience and at that point I never, ever saw anything declared as an ad. It was a lifestyle that I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t have it, I had similar jobs with supposedly similar salaries yet I had none of it without getting into debt. Not their fault but exactly what they advertisers wanted. Not the debt but the purchasing.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 12/07/2018 07:43

Also this has now got weirder than I ever thought it was. What is going on? What has Laura done?!

ScipioAfricanus · 12/07/2018 08:04

Shame to see this thread going all over the place!

Exactly, Going - no one is accusing influencers of being responsible for people going into debt etc if ads are clearly marked as such, but that’s only recently started happening (thanks mainly to these threads) - the past still happened! And some of us feel the loopholes should be closed further as some very shady skirting of the issues still goes on. Then we have the discussion about using children in paid advertising, which is another whole thing entirely. Some posters like to mix all this up together, I can only assume to purposely muddy the waters and weaken the arguments.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 12/07/2018 08:30

Ignoring all the weirdness.

Mrs M has posted that she's filming a video about Neilson Holidays and "what would you like to know?". Errrrr. Dunno. Why do you deceive your followers into believing you pay for them all? Would be a good start 😃

Sofialemon · 12/07/2018 08:53

@BeansandSausages

No, I don't comment on insta. I've never said anything negative about MOD, MP etc. Which is why I found it strange.

EeebyMum · 12/07/2018 09:24

This thread is fruitloop-lolz

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 09:29

MP follows me, she's lovely. But I had commented on posts and had dms with her on Instagram. I'm not sure if the 2 are linked but as she follows over 6000 people, has 2 kids, flex appeal and a job, I'm pretty sure she doesn't have time to be mucking about on mumsnet and Instagram trying to work out who's who.

EeebyMum · 12/07/2018 09:31

MP follows me too, after I commented on one of her photos. I think she does it for inclusivity not for MN stalking.

CambridgeAnaglypta · 12/07/2018 09:34

😃 Sponge. And just how do you get your kid out of school so often?

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 09:36

Totally disagree with comments directed at people who've been caught up with the sneaky advertising on Instagram and got in debt and bought things after being influenced. That was one of the key points to these threads, it's very valid. And no individual IGers should not necessarily be held accountable but the platform allowing their shady deals should bear some responsibility and it's unpleasant reading posters say it's the followers responsibility. What I've noticed with the threads is that lots of people over time have come on and said how they've got in trouble and been mislead, and often these people then feel the need to have their comments removed, which is a shame because it's valid.
Using your kids for financial gain is selfish and despicable.

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 09:42

Sponge - do you think the frequent freebie holidays help with your daughter's anxiety surrounding school?
Do you think your baby could be unsettled by having her homelife disrupted by freebie holidays when many baby's do better with consistency? Perhaps she's missing her manny...
Why did you post your sick child?
Why would anyone choose Neilson when it looked so dreadful?
Why when they'd stated the school supported trips as learning experience did the children spend so much time on holiday clubs and they not leave the resort?
Lots of questions I'm not sure we'd get the answers toGrin

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 12/07/2018 09:56

She's also taking a zero tolerance attitude to negativity and trolling supposedly. Trolling, ok fair enough. But deleting/ignoring all negative comments? What does that say about someone? Given this is her family's living you'd think she'd be taking a much more professional and considered response to negativity (and I don't mean the "your husband's hair looks shit" type of negativity!).

Spagbolfortea44 · 12/07/2018 10:02

@Fluffyrainbows rather than posting these questions here; which serves to do nothing more than whip up hate and bitching towards the Meldrums; perhaps using the new 'ask me a question' IG facility may provide you with the answers to your all-important questions. The new facility couldn't be more suited to MN users who persistently pose questions to anyone except the very person(s) capable of answering it factually. The questions may be rhetorical...I feel they are often used as a method of making a snidey / bitchy comment, masking it as false legitimate interest. Smile

stilldazed · 12/07/2018 10:04

Mrs Meldrum

Why do you never mention that you have a commercial arrangement with Neilson and that you are advertising these holidays for financial gain?

Why do you leave a 6 month old baby with a male kids club worker you do not know just so as you could advertise a 300 pound a week service?

Why do you make videos of sick children to advertise Neilson Holidays?

I could go on....

3asAbird · 12/07/2018 10:08

The loop holes are the non disclosed gifts

If it said ad or paid partnership we would assume oh well lucky them they dident pay for that.

A lot of viewers think the likes of the meldrums paid for everything and wondered how they afforded all the house stuff/ clothing hauls and holidays.

Now it's transpired lots of it was free that they dont own a whole house and they dident pay for what are fairly expensive holidays.

I have never got myself into debt trying keep up with an insta mum.
I have seen some things on their feeds that I thourght looked nice and cute then looked at price and thourght maybe not.

I'm also older and have 4kids but if I was young 1st time mum looming for advice and support from these vlogs or insta then I would think their family lives and budgets must be the norm.

I just want all vloggers/ insta mum's to point out on each square or story that thos plate was gifted.it was sent by small insta shop on off chance me mentioning it increases their business.

This holiday was free on condition I talk about it all time

This haul was funded by a gift card.

This outfit was from x. Here's the affiliate link.

This buggy /toy was gifted because I reviewed it.

Yes i am working with sainsburys and I'm advertising their clothes and their baby food..

Doesn't my garden look lovely asda gifted me new garden furniture.

See my new ebay shopping vlog.
I also buy from eBay joules outlet but I dont disclose that as I like to appear affluent.

If we have total transparency i dont care what they vlog or post.

Working for channel mum means I been offered this opportunity.

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 10:08

@Spagbolfortea44 I was just responding to a post above, those were my thoughts from their holiday they've just taken and I then unfollowed as I realised that their accounts had just become too ridiculous to follow. It's hardly whipping up hate and bitching? They frequently reference their daughters upset regarding school, they've taken her out 3 times in 2 months, the bsby is very unsettled and they ask for advice and tips frequently, all those points are valid to their recent posts.

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 10:12

@Spagbolfortea44 if you ask them questions directly they delete them... I'm not interested in refollowing so I'm unlikely to use a 'ask me anything' facility. I followed for over a year and it's just the same old swishy hair and cheesy grins intermittent with primark, holidays and coffee.

EeebyMum · 12/07/2018 10:18

So the question is whose gang would you rather be in
A: Mean Girls Top Tier Bitches
B: Social Warrior Hard-faced 3rd Tier Chip on Shoulder
C: Sitting on a Step Any Gang 2ish Tier Billy No-Mates

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 10:23

Using sentences like whose gang would you rather be in makes you sound about five years old and in the school playground which kind of feeds into the notion that they think over here's awful.
Somebody else has pointed out The questions may be rhetorical...I feel they are often used as a method of making a snidey / bitchy comment, masking it as false legitimate interest and I completely agree.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 10:26

Oh come on cady are you really this dry?? It’s clearly using the ‘girl gang’ language of IG and a comment on the different groups that are forming. For someone who claims not to love to argue you sure can muster one up over nothing.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 10:28

I’m in gang D. Bitchy viper 5yo MNer with an IG account
