Agree to disagree then princess. I've never compared their level of fame but they all work in the same industry and one that is reliant on consumerism, reputation and profile. They both include their children in this. Why did the conversation get so focused on the beckhams anyway? Wasn't it you that brought them up?!

They don’t work in the same industry. MOD works for the NHS. FOD works for a random company in London or something. They’re amateurs.

I didn’t bring up the Beckhams, that was allaboardtheallergybus. The comparison is ludicrous.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:21

Assume away! I haven’t got a fuck to give.

I don’t follow them anymore, but they maddeningly keep being bumped to the top of my feed whenever I hit the search tool. So my top left hand corner thumbnail in search is always FOD. Or Kate Moss. Go figure.

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:22

You don't have to go very far back in threads to find @allaboardtheallergybus being quite rude and making comments that were reported about other posters.

Furfugsache · 10/07/2018 21:24

I think there is a difference between being well educated/having a high IQ and emotional intelligence: being able to read the room and build relationships with your audience/followers. Some of the bloggers aren’t strong at the latter.

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:26

And now Princess you’ve admitted you’re back with a change of name? Is this a tactic? There was some shady goings on, on previous threads, sock puppeting and accusations that some accounts were plants or journalist. Where’s Sophia and Cady? They usually pop up when the ODS get slated

Still here, reading as I've said before I'm interested in the discussion. No point posting though, I'm just rolling eyes hard instead.
It never changes. Pretty pathetic.
Am posting on MN under a name change as I was due one, changed back specifically to post this so there aren't any cries of sock puppeting.
Why would anyone name change for this thread? Be yourself, the name you started out with on these threads.
I'd be slated if I did, should work for others like yourself who want to bitch and slag off too.

allaboardtheallergybus · 10/07/2018 21:28

Which ever way you look at it, the instagrammers/bloggers/youtubers are grafters. They put in the time, engage with their audience, create interesting content hence why they get offered big deals from brands, book deals, get invited on podcasts, write for magazines etc. You don’t get that many followers for being thick or stupid. I think many of them know long term this isn’t going to last it will be interesting to see how they see their future from here

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:29

I name changed before way before I posted on this thread. I name change every time I start a new thread in case it accidentally goes tabloid. I CBA to change back. I can’t even remember which name I was in the old threads. Several different ones each time probably. If anyone really gives a shot I can go back and check. Although @allaboardtheallergybus seems to have a good idea. Help us out?

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:30

I don’t follow them anymore, but they maddeningly keep being bumped to the top of my feed whenever I hit the search tool.

Yep, you may not follow them but you're expressing an interest in them and the IG algorithm will take that into account and bump feeds it "knows" you're interested in.
If you genuinely don't want to see them, follow different types of accounts instead.
Maybe a nice cake decorating channel or how to look after your garden or whatever takes your fancy.

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:31

@HRH I do think you raise some valid points. And I agree that if you unfollow they get promoted to you.
It's just so odd that you can discuss the dodgy business of the Meldrums and it takes different turns and gets moderated, but discuss the Hoopers and it takes off. These posters must know them or just really really be crazy followers as why would you get so upset on their behalf?

allaboardtheallergybus · 10/07/2018 21:31

@Cady It really never does change. Same argument about the kids. Sometimes the ASA gets thrown about, people name call, Mumsnet steps in with a word of warning, threads fill up, new ones ones pop up and the cycle continues

Furfugsache · 10/07/2018 21:31

Allergy the ones with half a brain already know that grafting their followers for the sake of a #gift or selling out their children’s privacy isn’t sustainable.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:32

engage with their audience

Well this is one of the issues isn’t it? They don’t engage with all their audience. They don’t engage with valid questions about sponsored content. They don’t engage with anyone asking for further transparency or clarification on anything. They only engage with those in their audience who unequivocally blow smoke up their arse.

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:33

I name changed before way before I posted on this thread.

Yeah, so did I a while back.
Changed back just for this thread though.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:36

I recently followed a load of drum and bass DJs I used to like as a student raver. Hopefully that will sort it.

@allaboardtheallergybus so do you think there isn’t a problem then? With declaring ads or using children to blag freebies? Do you think it’s all fine as it is?

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:37

*Today 21:28 allaboardtheallergybus

Seriously? Grafters? On the whole they really are not. And the engagement is minimal and generally just sucking up to similar level insta-stars. Engagement is to try to attract brands and deals, no more no less, from all the accounts mentioned except MP. Create interesting content? Oh come on. Very few do this, they generally post their kids. There are a few who have a genuine USP and stick to it, mistcare just hawkers. And these book deals. Just utter rubbish.
The only one I have time for at the mo is Clemmie Telford, although she featured MOD which was grating, but generally she's quite interesting.

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:37

@Cady It really never does change. Same argument about the kids. Sometimes the ASA gets thrown about, people name call, Mumsnet steps in with a word of warning, threads fill up, new ones ones pop up and the cycle continues

Yup! Could set your watch by it it's that predictable Grin

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:39

Yeah, so did I a while back.
Changed back just for this thread though

Those threads lasted so long I name changed at least twice during each of them. I don’t get why people don’t name change more often. Imagine being a ‘recognised’ name on here. If one of your threads went tabloid your whole life would be searchable on here. All your dirty secrets. I’m so paranoid about that. I’d rather preserve my anonymity than worry about being accused of sock puppetry on a thread about attention whores. If anyone’s that bothered they can check with MNHQ.

Confusssed · 10/07/2018 21:41

I have to agree with HRHPrincess but not in an angry way, just in quite a saddened way.

I think MOD's new book reviews are a frantic grasping at straws as another string to her Instagram bow. The first midwifery book she wrote really wasn't great. Probably because she isn't actually very experienced, despite much touting of her 10+ years experience. She might have been registered for over 10 years, but hasn't actually spent very much time 'in harness' so to speak, due to her multiple pregnancies + only working part time etc. She didn't write the book because she was a recognised specialist with significant experience and many years of peer reviewed research. She wrote the book because a certain demographic of expectant Mums would buy it because MOD has a cute fringe, and has a knack for arranging scatter cushions. Her fan girls don't want academic excellence, or incisive analysis, or a rigorous grasp of current affairs. They flock to her because she has positioned herself as a slightly glossier & wealthier version of themselves.

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:41

Equally you could say that from glancing through threads, that people talk about numerous things, this thread has had very little to do with the OD's but as soon as they're mentioned the same names pop up to sneer and put down people forvhsving a different viewpoint, bitch amongst themselves about other posters in a superior way rather than constructively discuss. You end up doing exactly what you are accusing others of doing.

Moonkissedlegs · 10/07/2018 21:42

Oh God, thank god you have turned up Cady, I was getting worried about you! 😂

ARumDo · 10/07/2018 21:42

I don't name change for this thread, I just name change pretty much 1st of every month as I value my privacy which, come to think of it, sounds very quaint in the context of these threads! I too am a selfless, caring, vocational professional and I would rather stick needles in my eyes than serve my kids up to the internet for money. You will never hear me criticise any other IGer, no matter how naff, how monetised, how trite........ but, put your kids up for sale and you deserve every last drop of vitriol that comes your way. Own it, you're flogging your kids and that makes you the lowest of the low.

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:42

so do you think there isn’t a problem then? With declaring ads or using children to blag freebies? Do you think it’s all fine as it is?

I'm not allergybus (obvs) but yes, they should be declaring ads. They all should.
"Using children to blag freebies" though - that's THEIR choice, they're doing nothing wrong having a family feed.
As pointed out, reality stars do it. This is the same but on a different media outlet that isn't the telly but widely watched and a huge audience.

Moonkissedlegs · 10/07/2018 21:43

I think MOD's new book reviews are a frantic grasping at straws as another string to her Instagram bow.

Yes, it's so transparent. And would be fine if they had any substance at all.

ARumDo · 10/07/2018 21:45

..... and am guessing MoD will show up in her scrubs any moment now to remind us what a caring, healthcare professional she is ...... GrinHaloFlowers

CadyHeron · 10/07/2018 21:46

Those threads lasted so long I name changed at least twice during each of them. I don’t get why people don’t name change more often.
I do name change, but changed back for this thread otherwise people would be shouting a new dissenting voice as being "cady flavoured" when shock horror there are others out there who think...well.... like me lol

Imagine being a ‘recognised’ name on here. If one of your threads went tabloid your whole life would be searchable on here.

I completely agree, which is why I always name change after a few months or so.
