Yep - see any Jamie Oliver thread.

One rule, one rule...

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 20:46

@allaboardtheallergybus. I was on them. Under a different name.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 20:49

I haven’t called anyone names.

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 20:49

For what it's worth I do think FOD chanced upon all this and it was a genuine lighthearted account with snaps here and there, but this now polished, slick, timed account is not what it was initially. And those children are part of the business. I would agree that Harper Beckham particularly has been quite exposed recently on their accounts, but as others have said, they have security and very different lives. It's not the same as sharing your intimate family life that has no level of security or protection.
At some point these children will be wanting normal lives, they will want to meet friends and do normal things and there won't be a burly security keeping an eye, there will be parents thinking 'oh god, loads of people will recognise her, what do we do? What is safe?' And what if people don't like the parents and take it out on the kids? It's all so short sighted.
I was approached to monetise my account and use my children, and despite not being wealthy or a home owner, I said no. For my children.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 20:50

They're perfectly comparable in a number of ways princess. The big difference is you simply don't like the ODs. Fair enough, but the nasty and personal comments are unnecessary and this isn't the thread for that.

FWIW, I don't agree with personal attacks on DoC or the PM either. If you have seen these you should report them.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 20:50

Oh, I called FOD a twerp. But I kind of do think he is one.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 20:54

@SpongeBobGrannyPants how are they comparable? You say they’re comparable in a number of ways but then you don’t say what those ways are. So, as it stands, your statement is meaningless.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 20:54

You called MOD "thick and stupid".

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 20:58

I agree, if I see namecalling or uncalled for comments I report them too. But you don't see people rushing to their defence and trying to stop the discussion. I think there are ways of managing discussion and channeling it, but if a poster feels like HRH I see no problem in them expressing that as their feeling. At the end of the day if you think it crosses a line, report it, but why defend to this degree these people you don't know and who are making questionable choices. If Katie Price shared photos of her special meal with 2 of her kids, she'd be ripped apart...

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 20:58

Both have a high profile in the media (different levels of fame I agree) and make the bulk of their money in that industry. They both rely on maintaining such a profile to continue to earn (money and fame). Both hold their families as an intrinsic part of their core brand too. I could go on, but I feel it's going to fall on deaf ears with you.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 20:58

I didn’t call her stupid.

I said her response to the criticism was either a result of her genuinely belt being thick or pretending to be thick. I don’t know whether it’s better or worse that I suspect it was the latter.

You still haven’t said how the OD’s children are like the Beckham children.

For me it’s very simple. The Beckhams were famous and rich first, then they had children.

The OD’s (or, let’s be fair and expand that to most influencers) were nobodies and then they had children, whom they exploited, and then they became rich and z list.

Make sense?

allaboardtheallergybus · 10/07/2018 21:00

I thinks it’s all well and good to continue the ‘what about the kids’ argument but name calling eg thick and stupid is just unpleasant. She’s a midwife with a degree and has written 2 books I’m not sure you can honestly think she’s thick or stupid.

And now Princess you’ve admitted you’re back with a change of name? Is this a tactic? There was some shady goings on, on previous threads, sock puppeting and accusations that some accounts were plants or journalist. Where’s Sophia and Cady? They usually pop up when the ODS get slated

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 21:00

It's not jumping to their defence to call out nasty personal comments that have no relevance to the discussion. I don't think we have many OD fans on here tbh but I think most of us know there's a line we shouldn't cross.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:00

It’s not falling on deaf ears, just baffled ones.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 21:02

Apologies, you called her "shallow and thick".

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:08

I agree that thick in a namecalling sense is not on, to wonder if someone is a bit thick is slightly different.
She is professional and has trained, but the books are dreadful. They are no sign of skill. I bought the first for a friend who was pregnant and after looking through it returned it as it was awful, the second I picked up out of interest in a shop and it's pretty but again there's nothing to it.
I would never question her professionalism as a midwife, but I would not use the books as an example of anything other than a publisher trying to make some money.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:08

Both have a high profile in the media (different levels of fame I agree) and make the bulk of their money in that industry

One is an international footballer, and one was a member of the original girl band phenomenon - the frigging SPICE GIRLS - and is now a respected fashion designer. Nothing to do whatsoever with their children.

They both rely on maintaining such a profile to continue to earn

Yes, but they don’t use their children to do this. David has football and Victoria has fashion.

Both hold their families as intrinsic to their core brand

I disagree. I think brand Beckham is contingent on their marriage. The children are incidental to that. Their brands are built on football, and the Spice Girls. If they’d never had children they would still be as famous and wealthy.

This is so obvious I can’t believe I’m having to spell it out.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:09

And now Princess you’ve admitted you’re back with a change of name? Is this a tactic? There was some shady goings on, on previous threads, sock puppeting and accusations that some accounts were plants or journalist. Where’s Sophia and Cady? They usually pop up when the ODS get slated

I change my name once a month because of all the threads on here that are lifted by the tabloids. Because, HA!, I value my privacy!

Fluffyrainbows · 10/07/2018 21:10

@spongebob agree with your comments. People don't get heated like this when the Meldrums are discussed?!
And why do people like to say Lee is gay?

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:10

Anyone can write a book. Gemma Collins has one out right now.

ARumDo · 10/07/2018 21:11

Well I am an old timer, name changer and I think Princess (who may well be the same, assumptions are dangerous) is bang on the money. I am disgusted by the willingness of anyone to serve their children up to the internet in pursuit of a quick buck.

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:12

Everything I am saying about the OD’s can be extrapolated to the Meldrums et al. I just never followed the Meldrums. I only ever used to follow OD’s, so they’re my touchpoint for all of this.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 10/07/2018 21:15

Agree to disagree then princess. I've never compared their level of fame but they all work in the same industry and one that is reliant on consumerism, reputation and profile. They both include their children in this. Why did the conversation get so focused on the beckhams anyway? Wasn't it you that brought them up?!

HRHCatherinePrincessofWales · 10/07/2018 21:15

Apologies, you called her "shallow and thick

No need to apologise. I’m certainly not sorry.

I did, yes. And I posted an explanation as to why I stand by it.

And I would go further to say that I think all influencers are shallow by definition. And certainly there are some thick ones. That’s why they either can’t see or don’t understand the issues around ethics.

allaboardtheallergybus · 10/07/2018 21:17

So you don’t follow them anymore presumably because you can’t stand how they ‘sell their kids’

Yet you’re still here going on about them? And interesting re the name change I recognise your tone and style so I can assume who you are from the previous threads.
