I took on the mantle to start another thread. If that is not allowed, Mods delete the thread, I am not sure of the protocol. But it certainly is an interesting discussion!

If allowed to stay as my OP, let's go!

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 06/07/2018 14:03

She said she was a remainer

She also said they d be no snap GE, repeated that lie numerous times.

Actions speak louder than words, a true remainer would never take the UK out of the EU, she is just an opportunist.

Danniz · 06/07/2018 15:06

I'm pretty sure that, temperamentally, TM is a leaver. She's a bully and she's obsessed with power and with removing rights from UK citizens, and removing immigrants from the UK. She voted remain because she thought that remain would win and that that would work best for her career-wise.
People voted (narrowly) to leave the EU because they were assured that everything would get better then. If they had been told that we would all be a lot poorer (barring the tiny number of very rich people who are actually driving Brexit), would lose our employment and human rights, a huge number would lose their jobs, we would see the NHS sold off to American companies and would have to eat chlorinated chicken, flights would be grounded, etc, etc, do you really think they would all have voted the same way?
We've seen the truth now, and the government should act on it, in the best interests of the population.

bellinisurge · 06/07/2018 17:19

@Danniz , we were told all this before the vote. Enough people chose to ignore it or to believe these lies. This is the fault of everyone who voted Leave.
And I don't see how TM is a bully. Quite the opposite. She has indulged these loud mouth posh boys too long and should never have let them in the Cabinet.

golondrina · 06/07/2018 17:49

The information was out there if people wanted to read it, remember Project Fear? But, of course people had had enough of experts, hadn't they?

Train101 · 06/07/2018 21:39

A brexit plan has been agreed by all members of the government in an unanimous decision.

So does hope the EU will accept it, and that it's a bloody good one.

Train101 · 06/07/2018 21:40

It states that it's more of a weak brexit plan, that angers many brexiteers but she held her ground and the threat of losing their jobs persuaded the brexiteers in her cabinet.

frumpety · 06/07/2018 21:43

Thesuzle hoping for a cliff edge Brexit then ?

Train101 · 06/07/2018 21:51

Michael barber has said that he is open to the ideas and options and now the UK has relaxed it's red lines he looks forward to negotiations continuing and working out a great deal for both.

The deal looks more like the Norwegian model also that works on nearly free trade, where border checks are minimal and short bybusig high tech software.

jasjas1973 · 06/07/2018 22:02

UK wants to have the deal on trade similar to what it has now as a member of the bloc, stick to EU rules, ECJ etc but free to diverge on services.......mmmmmmmm

Train101 · 06/07/2018 22:09

I don't have a problem with that. On ITV news they make it sound sensible.

That we can have frictionless trade with the EU, and work closely with them, but can negotiate deals independently too. Sounds good let's pray they let us as they may not as we don't allow freedom of movement of people.

54321go · 06/07/2018 22:16

Independent deals should be out by EU 'rules', FOM is also vital.

Train101 · 06/07/2018 22:19

I agree that is why the EU may not accept but there has been positive noises by Brussels.

jasjas1973 · 06/07/2018 22:23

Train101, its cherry picking, we want trade with the EU but only on the bits that suit us! manufacturing & agri.
On services, which is the big driver for the UK, we want freedom to do as we like, so of course it sounds a great deal!
I mean we should have gone for this decades ago lol!

longwayoff · 06/07/2018 22:24

That sounds ok-ish in the circumstances. If shes had private assurances from EU (must have, surely) then it may work. But if its rejected then hello Boris and Gove she wont get a second chance.

Train101 · 06/07/2018 22:26

We should of Grin.
However the only other option is no deal or stay so this sounds great so far Grin

RayneDance · 06/07/2018 22:50

The politics of the eu are vastly different to the actual business trade agreements which is how it slyly started.

People want to sell and trade. Money drives our western world not political ideals.

It amazes me we got so far in without a vote.

RayneDance · 06/07/2018 22:53

Danniz... People voted because things would get better?

What things?
Do you think anyone thought things could get worse then or change over night?

jasjas1973 · 06/07/2018 23:10

We should of, however the only other option is no deal or stay so this sounds great so far

Weird! you want to leave the EU but have so little faith in the UK, that you want us to be a sort of vassal state for the UK, paying up, accepting rules and all with no say? how humiliating.

Train101 · 06/07/2018 23:16

No?
I don't want the UK to leave the EU. I voted remain.

What's humiliating is the government took all this time to formulate even a basic plan on their idea of brexit, and you think we can cherry pick as you said, what suits us and then get better deals in others.

I hope we do get a good deal with the EU if we must leave, as gets a our biggestvtradig partners, so I would prefer to be closely aligned to them as possible.

How else would you suggest we trade with the EU then?
We can't have a border between northern Ireland and Ireland but you want separate rules from the EU?How is that going to work then.

Danniz · 06/07/2018 23:39

Rayne - read my post if you're going to comment on it. I said that people voted leave because they were told that leaving the EU would improve things in the UK. They are now finding that it is making things far worse. We should therefore not forge ahead with leaving when there is now so much evidence that it will make the lives of most UK citizens worse. That's not what they voted for.

Danniz · 06/07/2018 23:40

We don't need to leave and we shouldn't leave. We had a highly privileged and influential position within the EU. Everyone was talking about what a successful country we were. They're not doing that now, are they?

Train101 · 07/07/2018 00:06

Agreed @Danniz

We could have solved all our issues with the EU without leaving.

Immigration = Follow the rule of if you havent got a job in 3 months you're allowed to be deported back to your country of origin.
Sovereignty = Vote against the issues in the parliament.
Trade = Push for better trade deals with other countries EU wide.
Putting to much money in =Push for other members to become net contributors instead of takers and work with those nations to improve their economy so it benefits everyone.

The EU is the biggest trading bloc of some of the richest countries, and hey have great trade deals with all other major countries including Canada, Australia, new Zealand and America.

I think it's foolish we are leaving and I hope the closer we stay to them the better

bellinisurge · 07/07/2018 08:16

@Danniz what did people vote for if not Leave. This wasn't XFactor or Strictly. If you didn't see that what did you see?

jasjas1973 · 07/07/2018 08:40

@Train101, sorry, i took your comment "we should of" as a leave one!

For me, cancelling brexit is the only (sensible) way forward, however, the UK voted to leave and as the polls show zero sign of change, we should leave and let the "people" have what they want, which is not to be tied to the EU as if we had'nt left.
Mays answer to FOM is a Mobility partnership, allowing people to travel and work between UK/EU....again this is not what was voted for.

If May truly believes in this so called proposal, she should stand up & tell the UK the harsh reality and cancel brexit... in other words be a leader.
I believe she d carry the nation if she d only be honest.

Train101 · 07/07/2018 10:24

Don't worry jas, I'm a very big remainer Grin .

I agree I would love her to keep us in, and use some of the ideas to appease those that voted for brexit.
If people had issues with immigration, we can sort that. If people have issues with them deciding our laws, we can sort that.
But we can sort it in the EU, where we will still have our biggest trading partners.
