Things that belong in chocolate

  • Nuts
  • Mint
  • Orange

Things that definitely DO NOT belong in chocolate

  • Ginger
  • Chilli
  • Lime
  • Chilli and lime together. Abomination.

Am I right?

YABVU Sea Dog Dark chocolate with Sea salt and Lime is da bomb.

Lime chocolate has no right to exist, you might as well dip a bar of bourneville into some toilet duck.

Another thing to add to the DO NOT list - popping candy.

FrenchJunebug · 14/06/2018 14:15

mint and orange do not belong in chocolate!

Tumilnaughts · 14/06/2018 14:18

Didn't the Aztecs mix chilli and chocolate together as standard? So therefore it would be the the correct way the have it? I like chilli and chocolate personally- it orange that doesn't belong. Tastes like sick.

BarbedBloom · 14/06/2018 14:18

I love chilli in dark chocolate and also ginger in dark chocolate. I like some nuts in chocolate. But lime is a bit weird and not sure about chilli and lime

FlyingElbows · 14/06/2018 14:19

Lavender chocolate? That's enough to warrant a return to public executions. Who in their right mind wants to eat chocolate that smells of old ladies drawer liners (of any variety!)?

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 14:22

"Lime chocolate has no right to exist, you might as well dip a bar of bourneville into some toilet duck."

This made me laugh.

And I hear you on popping candy. Why do I want to have the sensation that an insect farted in my ear?

VanGoghsLeftEar · 14/06/2018 14:26

Lime/Ginger/Chilli no. Also hate salted caramel. Bleugh. I like most other fruits in chocolate, and can eat a whole bag of Waitrose chocolate raisins in one sitting.

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2018 14:27

Steady on FlyingElbows!

GallicosCats · 14/06/2018 14:28

I reckon the only reason for salted caramel to exist is so that someone can manage a complete red-out on the nutritional traffic light labelling. Deep fried Mars bars anyone? Envy

Maryann1975 · 14/06/2018 14:28

I was given some rose flavoured chocolate once. I can still taste the foulness years later. It was repulsive (and worse, was expensive) and I can not believe anyone thought it would be a best seller.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 14/06/2018 14:30

I love marmite with chocolate...can’t eat a snickers or a chocolate digestive without smearing marmite on it.

tigercub50 · 14/06/2018 14:30

Sea salt chocolate is up there with some of the worst things I have ever eaten. Feel sick just thinking about it!

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 14:31

I'm trying and failing to imagine rose-flavoured chocolates. I once made rose cupcakes, but misread the recipe and put in about 10 times as much rose flavouring as I was supposed to. It was like eating a Glade air freshener.

if I want chocolate then that is what I want , dont dare faff about with it . no nuts , no fruit , def no herbs / spices .
All that said once or twice a year I do like Thornton's ginger covered with dark chocolate, but you have to really like ginger for them as it is a disc of ginger about the size of a £2 coin but a bit thicker coated in dark chocolate.

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 14:31

You are dead to me.

Some of the things that are in chocolate really should not be, air dried raspberries, raisins, lime, any fruit really.

Ginger and chilli are OK, and salt.

The one thing that really should not be in chocolate is palm oil.

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 14/06/2018 14:34

Can I also add that salt in chocolate is disgusting. I don't do well mixing salt and sweet. It makes me gag Confused

AveAtqueVale · 14/06/2018 14:34

Was it Montezumas? I LOVE their chocolate usually and DH got me some for my birthday. The chilli and lime was indescribably disgusting. I binned it after a bite, and I would previously have said that I would eat chocolate in any form whatsoever.

AngeloMysterioso · 14/06/2018 14:37

Clearly you haven't tried Tesco's finest dark chocolate and ginger biscuits... they're heaven

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 14/06/2018 14:39

Oh God I actually quite like the lime and chilli one. I will always look back at this moment and realise it's me

Clubcuts · 14/06/2018 14:39

@StepBackNow , what do you mean no salted caramel in chocolate? We can't be friends!

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 14/06/2018 14:39

Oops...me that's weird, not the rest of the world! Ahhhhhh!!!!

BlooperReel · 14/06/2018 14:43

Mint and orange, yes, ginger in dark chocolate only.

Nuts, never. Ever.

Ditto lime, chilli and all manner of grotesque additions I have seen such as basil with white chocolate. I mean, just why?
