Things that belong in chocolate

  • Nuts
  • Mint
  • Orange

Things that definitely DO NOT belong in chocolate

  • Ginger
  • Chilli
  • Lime
  • Chilli and lime together. Abomination.

Am I right?

Amandinezea · 14/06/2018 13:25

Praline and peanut are both nut

letsallhaveanap · 14/06/2018 13:25

I love any flavour in chocolate!! Love chocolates with fruit creme centres ect... but then thats because im not actually keen on chocolate itself...

Think this is like coffee purists.... I love flavoured lattes with almond and coconut milk.... thats because I dont actually like coffee that much!

If you love chocolate or coffee I can see why you wouldnt want its taste eclipsed by loadsa random other tastes

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 13:27

"You might find, if you had been, that some of the flavours you do not believe belong in chocolate have in fact been combined with chocolate for centuries."

People ate mud back then too. I am not accepting arguments about authenticity or history. I do not care if the ancient Aztecs ground their chocolate with a holy stone and then put it on lettuce. Wink

☠Not a fan of salted caramel.

ComtessedeLancret · 14/06/2018 13:28

Talk about abominations - chocolate and wine!

My mother once bought me a bottle of chocolate infused merlot - disgusting! I don’t know what self respecting winemaker would think that was in any way, shape or form, a good idea! My mother doesn’t drink so she would’ve gotten a crafty sales pitch as to convince her to buy the awful thing.

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 13:28

I can't believe you lot hate salted caramel more than you hate lime.

It's LIME. It's absolutely bogging in chocolate.

Yep Smile but it's the nut texture I don't like, not the taste.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 14/06/2018 13:30

Add sea salt to your does belong list and Turkish delight to your doesn’t belong list 👍🏼

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 14/06/2018 13:31

AveABanana :
DH once very thoughtfully .....
Sorry think you might mean thoughtlessly Wink

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 13:31

Sea salt is acceptable if it is subtle, I think. I do not want to eat something that resembles a beach with a bit of chocolate on it.

stressedbeyond123 · 14/06/2018 13:32

salt also does not belong in chocolate - WTF is up with all this salted caramel, salted anything shite....

had a meal out the other week, decided to have chocolate fudge cake with cream as a treat - the bloody thing was salted, it was disgusting!
x

KinkyAfro · 14/06/2018 13:33

Salted caramel is disgusting, doesn't belong in anything apart from the bin.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/06/2018 13:39

Turkish delight does not belong with any form of edible food including chocolate.
Chocolate and lime is an abomination.
Chocolate and most fruit fillings is the nearest thing I have found to proof that Satan exists.

Cocoa-based theology. I like it.

Have you never had chocolate lime sweets? They've been around forever, and are delicious!

Stephisaur · 14/06/2018 13:42

I like Ginger and Chilli in chocolate Blush

Lime can do one though, as can salted caramel. Caramel should never be salted!

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2018 13:43

Palm oil in chocolate is an abomination. It has cured me of by chocolate problem though.

Sortofcool · 14/06/2018 13:46

Chilli - no
Ginger - yes
Lime - maybe
Chilli and lime - absolutely not. This is a crime against chocolate.

TheWernethWife · 14/06/2018 13:51

Thorntons used to do the most delicious candied orange slices dipped in dark chocolate, tasted fabulous.

54321go · 14/06/2018 13:52

Depending on the chocolate blend (white through to dark) most things are OK to varying degrees but Lavender, old lady aftershave flavour, definitely not.

critiqueofeveryday · 14/06/2018 13:53

Mike - Aldi and Lidl do some German chocolate that is free from that problem. Please do not send me bills for weight loss clubs or therapy after reading this comment.

I just remembered another abomination.

Freeze-dried raspberries in white chocolate.

I actually had a bar of that in my fridge, with one square eaten, for two years. Bear in mind my previous record for chocolate conservation was about 2 hours. That is how horrible it was.

DiabolicalMess · 14/06/2018 13:55

No no no, nuts shouldn't go in or anywhere near chocolate 🍫 not praline, not peanut, not hazelnut, nothing nutty! Envy
