To wonder how many of you are ready for hard Brexit, after today's Common's vote?

Because that's what's now happening, very soon.

PS According to the civil servants I know, it will be utter chaos - there has been literally basically no preparation for this at all. Because the bloody politicians can't make up their minds for what they want/expect to happen. So there are no contingency plans whatsoever.

Hope you're happy and looking forward to the chaos if you voted for Leave.

TheVanguardSix - we shall see.

It's not just my wages I'm upset about. It's the number of fatalities I personally know about because someone who isn't capable of driving a 44t truck has been allowed to come over here with their micky mouse licence. The EU have blood on their hands.

If these people had to sit a UK driving test I'd be okay with it. And if they were limited in number I'd be delighted.

After our independence day it will not be so easy for any fool to come to the UK and destroy our industry.

54321go · 13/06/2018 09:54

You can pop along to the EU building in Brussels and see some of the democracy in action. It is not perfect and is rather overblown but it is there. Better go quick as you will need a visa next year.
Many of the laws passed in Brussels may have originated from Germany, but they only get passed if the other 27 countries agree with them. The UK has/had equal opportunity to propose laws which if the other members thought were meritworthy could be enacted.
Moving on. Where is the UK industry which is going to produce things that will be shipped around the world (at greater expense). Is the UK government going to subsidise this industry out of it's pocket, which is already pretty empty?
Do you know who your MEPs are? Have you ever contacted them to get them to put your point to the EU?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 09:54

Still no answer about Merkel running the EU.

Every single time you point out the heart of the problem, remoaners go absolutely silent.

IF the EU had genuinely remained democratic with each country participating and each country was equal, and I stress equal because the EU is so far from equal as to be ridiculous. IF it represented the people in the EU properly and fairly. IF it had remained purely a place to trade and for open dialogue then we wouldn't be where we are today.

We are where we are because the UK does not, and will never want to be part of a super state with Germany in the driving seat.

No one here, not even the remoaners wants that, and yet that is exactly what it is....

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44465657

"He said: "There will be an inevitable transfer of trade post-Brexit to countries outside the EU, which will reduce prices in shops and pubs.

"The products we are now introducing are at lower prices than the EU products they are replacing.""

truckdrive · 13/06/2018 09:57

"Wetherspoon will continue to serve Kopparberg cider from Sweden, as the company has said it will transfer production to the UK post-Brexit. "In similar situations we will work closely with suppliers of niche products," Mr Martin said."

The great exodus lies are being exposed...

Theworldisfullofgs · 13/06/2018 09:59

I was hit by a lorry recently. My car was a write off.
UK lorry driver.
I'm full of anecdotes too.

So where's the plan to replace what little industry we had left and us now leaving.

What will be the plan to replace the service sector and the personal tax their workers pay?

I wouldn't be quite as apoplectic as I currently am if their was a fucking plan.

Rees-mogg and the Tory parties biggest donor, Odney, certainly have a plan. They're going to get against the UK and make a fortune.

Redwood is advising people not to invest in UK companies whilst simultaneously working towards leave.

54321go · 13/06/2018 10:00

How come these 'furrin truck drivers' can get all the way from Spain, Portugal, Poland etc, across Europe then turn into homicidal maniacs having come across the channel?
What do reckon to Belgian plated 'Stobart' trucks that are resident in Brussels?

Theworldisfullofgs · 13/06/2018 10:00

Cider, a great replacement for the car industry.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 10:01

54321go You assume incorrectly that I haven't visited the EU building in Brussels, I am very fortunate that I have seen 'democracy in action' and I nearly spat out my tea for laughing.

Democracy in action.....wow....

The EU is democracy in action? Perhaps look up the idea of democracy because this time wasting was in no way democratic. I sat there and watched my hard earned taxes being squandered by an enormous amount of time wasting and pen pushing. Fiddling with the smaller issues because the larger ones are too big to tackle. Like the huge rise in youth unemployment or the mass arrival of migrants or anything else that is meaningful.

I think I could ask my MEP to put forward my concerns, but I can be pretty sure it would be met with total indifference.

The indifference to the people of Europe in the EU commission is my biggest issue.

TheVanguardSix · 13/06/2018 10:01

So Leavers, like watchingwith pray tell us about this great future!
That what all of us remainers want to know about.

I hear a lot about this 'great future for our children' but what exactly IS IT?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 10:02

54321go They get drunk on the ferry and then drive on the motorways. I should know as we see enough of them in the courts.

Drinking and driving legislation is not the same everywhere I can assure you. But hey it wasn't your kids that were killed so who cares right?

Wrong.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/06/2018 10:03

Quite frankly I’d rather have Merkel running the UK than May, or JRM, heaven forbid.

truckdrive · 13/06/2018 10:03

54321go - stobarts doesn't have foreign plated wagons. Probably a customer trailer you saw.

Theworldisfullofgs - how is the car industry being harmed? As I've said I work on a JLR contract. We are increasing investment not reducing it. One model will be manufactured abroad. No big deal.

LittleLionMansMummy · 13/06/2018 10:04

@Shrimpi I do agree that we shouldn't alienate people - and particularly not by throwing around insults. People were motivated to vote the way they did for their own reasons. I am just as fed up though of the "liberal elite" narrative/ accusations as the "stupid/ racist" one tbh. But I think it's gone too far and the divisions are too deep for us to unite in any meaningful way now. The discourse here is proof of the passionate feelings and beliefs, on both sides. The country feels more divided and bereft of selflessness than it ever felt pre-referendum.

truckdrive · 13/06/2018 10:05

watchingwithinterest - or this tragic case: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/mar/06/lorry-driver-ryszard-masierak-guilty-fatal-m1-crash-killed-eight-people

8 dead. One drunk polish driver.

I see it all the time. And the standard of driving is horrific.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 13/06/2018 10:06

Merkel doesn't run the EU. That's just ridiculous. You might as well say we ran the EU as our leader(s) was just as visible - if not more. EU representatives were elected by us. I always voted in MEP elections. Juncker was elected by democratically elected officials the same as government positions are elected here. Do you elect government ministers? No. Do you choose who leads political parties i.e. the PM if you're not a member? No. If that kind of regime isn't democratic enough for you, start change at home.

Jaguar Land Rover to cut 1,000 jobs due to Brexit 'headwinds'

www.theguardian.com/business/2018/apr/13/jaguar-land-rover-to-announce-1000-job-cuts-next-week

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 10:06

Still NO answer about Merkel running the EU?

Anyone????

Can only imagine the silence is because you know as well as I do that right the way from one end of Europe to the other even the French (but they will feel a whole lot better if they can off load their huge debts into an EU banking system so will be quiet for now) feel deeply deeply uncomfortable about this.

frumpety · 13/06/2018 10:06

If we are not leaving the EU in all its entirety then you can deduce that we are in fact remaining in the EU in some small way, so remind me again who won ?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 10:07

Alltheprettyseahorses stop lying, of course she does.

jasjas1973 · 13/06/2018 10:07

@truckdrive
No point in going over the brexit debate... done and dusted. TM will sacrifice the UK getting the best possible brexit so she can stay in power and to keep the tory party together.

But unless you plan on every EU lorry driver turning around at Calais and you hooking up to his trailer and continuing the drive to x y or z UK business, then the poor standards of lorry driving you complain about will continue.
Of course our drivers are without blame and the trucks i see routinely drift into the hard shoulder, over take regardless of who is in the middle lane or throw bottles of piss out their windows are ALL european?
Low wages are because you as an industry accept them, have no collective bargaining rights and the anti trade union laws prevent you from taking any sort of action... nowt to do with the EU and common across most uk industries, meanwhile director pay is on average 240 times higher than average worker pay!

Like most who voted for brexit, they blame the EU for our own countries failings.

FrangipaniBlue · 13/06/2018 10:07

How come these 'furrin truck drivers' can get all the way from Spain, Portugal, Poland etc, across Europe then turn into homicidal maniacs having come across the channel?

Going to go out on a limb and suggest that all of those countries have similar road layout/rules/speed limits/standards of acceptable driving to pass the tests/permitted alcohol levels etc - the UK is a completely different kettle of fish.

Oh yeah, and opposite side of the road ?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 10:08

Angela Merkel is the undisputed leader of the EU

jasjas1973 · 13/06/2018 10:08

Alltheprettyseahorses stop lying, of course she does

Evidence please rather than your opinion.
