To wonder how many of you are ready for hard Brexit, after today's Common's vote?

Because that's what's now happening, very soon.

PS According to the civil servants I know, it will be utter chaos - there has been literally basically no preparation for this at all. Because the bloody politicians can't make up their minds for what they want/expect to happen. So there are no contingency plans whatsoever.

Hope you're happy and looking forward to the chaos if you voted for Leave.

Really (without googling for info) I am truly curious to know if there are any posters here with current experience of Lithuania and how things have gone there since they joined the Euro.

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 16:22

"But you said it was because Savona was taking the euro out by the back door."

No I said it was because he had laid out the plan to do so in a book/article previously, and this "plan b" had been to do it without warning. As this wasn't on the manifesto, and the impact it had on markets, is why the President of Italy used his right under the constitution to refuse his appointment.

You accused the President of Italy of being in the pocket of the EU, and that this was done at their behest, I know which one is more accurate.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 16:24

At what point do we accept that the EU trying (and failing) to overthrow a democratically elected government is supremely sinister?

At what point do we realise that this 'commission' is really not in this for the good of europe?

At what point will Topman admit that this was NOT the EU's finest moment? Nor can they continue to run Greece like a hostel.

This is an absolute outrage of such a magnitude.

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 16:27

"At what point do we accept that the EU trying (and failing) to overthrow a democratically elected government is supremely sinister?"

What evidence do you have that the EU did this, other than the President of Italy doing what Presidents of Italy have done before?

HateIsNotGood · 13/06/2018 16:27

watching - you know the Russians are behind it don't you? The new "axis of evil" doncha know Wink

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 16:29

What evidence do you have with your suggestion (In your magical unicorn land) that the reason the President stopped the government formation due to an article?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 16:31

Topman1980

So you think the President of Italy with his reputation now in shreds, not to mention the high office did ALL of this on some small notion of an article that may or may not have been written years ago by Savona? He would have put his credibility on the line, not to mention his post as President all for an article even if it existed?

No, he did this for (alot) of money paid by the EU. To shut down the anti EU government. It backfired.

There is no evidence to suggest Savona would have done taken Italy out of the euro nor that he was intending to do this. An article is not a crime and you will know if you have read it that he criticises Germany for dominating the EU. There was no suggestion he would have left the euro without warning.

That is a lie.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 16:34

watching - you know the Russians are behind it don't you? The new "axis of evil" doncha know

I like the Russians love, like I like the Europeans but that doesn't make me a Russian troll for simply highlighting the reasons why I voted brexit, but you keep on believing about fairies and trolls Confused

You are getting desperate because you are losing the argument.

HateIsNotGood · 13/06/2018 16:35

28 pages later and still no one has said how they're getting ready for the Apocalypse, post-Brexit. OP hasn't been around for a few now - maybe she's at her Language Lessons preparing for her impending move with her immediate family to the EU country she plans to go immigrate to.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 16:36

Rider What is your guess about Italy and its future now? Given the EU have behaved so appallingly?

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 16:37

Is there a point to Brexit threads anymore?

We all know The Left Wing press feed legitimate Remain concerns into what amounts to hysteria. We all know that all Remainers are stupid. We all know that the EU is democratically deficient. We all know there will be tough times ahead for both people in the UK and the EU. We all know the people of the UK democratically made a choice, albeit a close one.

Is there anything else to add?

flibbertyfive · 13/06/2018 16:37

Another major point that has not yet been made on this thread yet, I think, is that polls suggest that a vast majority of people in the UK now favour there being a second referendum, once the terms of us leaving have been agreed.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/jan/26/britons-favour-second-referendum-brexit-icm-poll

"The ICM survey, conducted as part of a Guardian reporting project, found 47% of people would favour having a final say on Brexit once the terms of the UK’s departure are known, while 34% oppose reopening the question.

Excluding the roughly one-fifth who do not have a view gives a lead of 58% to 42% for a second referendum, showing rising interest in the idea as concern grows over the direction of recent negotiations. "

If Brexiters claim to be genuinely interested in democracy and the will of the people, they should welcome this.

That Brexiters are doing everything in their power to ban British voters from voting does make it appear that they are more interested in dictatorship than democracy and are well aware that they would lose a second referendum where the voters were actually clear what they were voting for!

Well I am getting ready for the apocalypse by planning a BBQ this weekend and buying some fine Italian wine. Hoping the weather will hold out.

HateIsNotGood · 13/06/2018 16:39

No, not at all watch, it was a little joke - apparently the Russians made me vote Leave so it's just as likely they interfered with Italian politics too...or in reality didn't.

I quite like Russians too

For you, clearly not.

The second referendum won't happen.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 16:41

What is your guess about Italy and its future now

I would like to think they will choose to come out of the Euro and the EU is made to reform back into a trade union, not a political one.

Wishful thinking though.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 16:42

To keep hysterical people like you in check. Hope this helps.

Er..as, unlike some posters here, I am not paid to post lies about Brexit, I actually have to work to earn a living.

It's quite obvious to see who here apparently gets paid per word...

I thought you were calling me a troll Grin I am glad you weren't and thank you for clarifying.

Yes we haven't heard that one yet, Russians meddling with the Italian election. The EU blame the Russians for every result they don't want to see.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/06/2018 16:44

How do you ever get ready for the apocalypse?

HateIsNotGood · 13/06/2018 16:44

How did the Language Lesson go flib or maybe you were picking up the dc - something the vast majority on MN DO know about and is a speciality subject after all. How's the Apocalyptic prepping going?

user1471448556 · 13/06/2018 16:45

Brexit is not going to improve life for the vast majority of Brits - it'll be the opposite, unless you're Banks or Rees Mogg. Prepping for me consists of stocking up on French wine before it gets too expensive and before it all gets held up in the ports ... and teaching my kids some Deutsch. Unfortunately, can't move to Germany as we're freelance and don't have a guaranteed income, so once we're out of the EU we'll have little chance of being allowed to settle there.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 16:45

So ignoring one democratic vote and asking for another is democracy whilst respecting the result of the intial vote is in fact dictatorial?

Have you thought about doing stand up?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 16:48
  • I would like to think they will choose to come out of the Euro and the EU is made to reform back into a trade union, not a political one.

Wishful thinking though*

It might be in Germany's interests to reform the EU back to a trading bloc, least of all because there are only so many bailouts they can cope with. France is nipping away for a banking system they are utterly opposed to. It would possibly keep the UK in a non political union....

It would solve many many problems. Some though I fear would sooner see the EU go completely under than reform the morass.
