To wonder how many of you are ready for hard Brexit, after today's Common's vote?

Because that's what's now happening, very soon.

PS According to the civil servants I know, it will be utter chaos - there has been literally basically no preparation for this at all. Because the bloody politicians can't make up their minds for what they want/expect to happen. So there are no contingency plans whatsoever.

Hope you're happy and looking forward to the chaos if you voted for Leave.

It's "FAKE NEWS" that Farage is claiming for residency. Jesus people. Amusing that a Brexiteer should be crying Fake News when that is what the entire Leave campaign was based on. Farage is married to a German and therefore secure in the knowledge that he isn’t hedging his own and his children’s bets - you can split hairs if you like, but it is what it is. £350 million a week for the NHS was an out and out lie.

"Worldwide business will come to a complete stop if planes aren't allowed to fly. Are you silly enough to think that will happen because the EU want to make a point"

Worldwide business does not actually rely on passenger planes, freight will find other destinations. If the UK leaves without agreements on aviation it will be self inflicted and not the EU making a point,

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 14:13

The economy is growing at 0.1%

That's this quarter, it's was 0.4% last quarter, it's estimated to be 1.5% by Q4

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:15

"Just imagine if Merkel had given Cameron even a tiny flimsy titbit of cooperation he could have worked with, we could have avoided all of this."

Repeating clap trap, Merkel couldn't give Cameron anything, the council of ministers gave him the vast majority of what he asked for, except for the brake on immigration.

But again you are blaming others for the situation you and your side have caused, no one else. Own your victory.

Oh and your use of hyperbole is really crass, you fail to make any relevant points at all.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 14:15

Utter bollocks. No mention of the Remain campaign stating that Brexit could cause WWIII?

Germany will, of course, want to keep selling us BMWs and Mercedes and France their wine and cheese and fill their gites with UK visitors.

Ah yes, they need us more than we need them. Except the EU don't see it that way do they?

antimatter · 13/06/2018 14:17

If the EU decides we must all wear green socks on a Friday, and passes the laws to do so, we will be wearing green socks on a Friday.
I can't believe anyone still writes statements like that!
An estimated 13% of Acts and Statutory Instruments have an EU influence, whereas that rises to 62% when EU regulations are included in addition to Acts and Statutory Instruments.

Do you know of any laws UK had to apply which made you believe that you are right?

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:17

"That's this quarter, it's was 0.4% last quarter, it's estimated to be 1.5% by Q4"

Would that be estimated by those pesky economists who also said leaving was detrimental to the UK and almost all predicted an economic downturn.

PS UK growth only dipped below 0.5 in one quarter from the end of 2012 until the 2016 referendum, since then its been below 0.5 for all but one.

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:20

David Cameron never said Brexit could cause WW3 that was actually the press sensationalizing a speech that that said that the EU had helped bring peace and that the UK had regretted turning its back on Europe in the past.

Didn't see Leaving the EU will cause WW3 on the side of a bus.

You misunderstand me, I am very proud that we voted as we did, but I would not be as crass to crow over our victory. However, it could have been very different, but Merkel was true to form and did not move an inch to her credit and as a result we will now be leaving.

For what it is worth many european leaders expressed remorse that not more was done to save the situation, but in my view it is for the best. Their club can continue its expansionist ambitions without the UK holding it back.

18,000 jobs in Germany?

20,000 Jobs just with Nissan in the UK.

1 in 5 manufacturing jobs in the UK because of hard brexit or 28,400.

CBI says UK car manufacturing risk extinction. www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/jun/13/brexit-parts-of-uk-manufacturing-at-risk-of-extinction-cbi-says

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 14:29

18,000 jobs in the German car manufacturing industry. The French have one, the Spanish have one......that's just cars. TO say the EU won't suffer and they will be alright is just nonsense.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 14:29

I think you should read up on the recent JLR announcements. British car manufacturing could take a big hit.

17 million UK tourists go to Spain every year. If we leave and a good deal don't done that could be a big blow got their economy.

Ps I voted remain but even I see that we do contribute a lot to the EU

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:30

"However, it could have been very different, but Merkel was true to form and did not move an inch to her credit and as a result we will now be leaving. "

Merkel didn't make the decisions, the EU council of ministers did. The UK had the best deal of any EU country but it wasn't good enough for the leave crowd.

I want to get ready for a hard brexit because as a low-income single mother, the cost of food rising even by a few pence per item will well and truly push us from 'only just managing if we carefully balance eating and other basic needs like gas and electric to 'right, kids we're eating the dog for tea'.

I've thought hard about preparing for it and decided I will just have to take one of the jobs the pesky immigrants keep stealing. Truck driving is out, I can't drive and I can't afford to learn, plus I have it on good authority that SS don't like you leaving young children alone for days at a time. Fruit picking is also out because I can't drive, so I can't get to where the fruit needs to be picked and again, SS would probably be a teeny bit pissed off at me leaving my kids to fend for themselves for a few weeks while I live and work on a farm.

Nissan hires pesky immigrants, so being from the North, I see Nissan as my way out. I don't envisage any problems at all with this plan. I mean, it's not like the UK car industry and all it's 169,000 employees rely on access to the single market or anything, is it? Or that the 10% tariff on exported cars under WTO rules will wipe out Nissan's profit margin. And it's not even like Nissan can up sticks and move to Spain or anything is it? They don't already have manufacturing plants there, do they?

Yup, we'll be just fine once those pesky immigrants go home.

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:32

82 million tourists visit Spain every year, the UK contirbutes about 20%.

Yes I think Spain would be worse off if the UK tourists didn't go there. A hard Brexit hurts the EU too.

But the UK will be the one that takes the largest hit of any country in the result of a no deal brexit.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 14:32

of course once we become a tax haven and change our policies to make the UK the most attractive place to work without hindrance we can look forward to welcoming even more business.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 14:34

I would question those numbers, it is inaccurate.

For the hundreth time...... you willingly miss the point and conflate a point I was making with another poster to something else. It's ridiculous.

If there is a hard Brexit, hundreds of thousands of Europeans will lose their jobs. This is a fact.

That is singularly the most sensible thing you have said all day. Congratulations.

topcat1980 · 13/06/2018 14:35

"I would question those numbers, it is inaccurate."

I question your entire argument, none of it is accurate, all hyperbolic nonsense.
