To wonder how many of you are ready for hard Brexit, after today's Common's vote?

Because that's what's now happening, very soon.

PS According to the civil servants I know, it will be utter chaos - there has been literally basically no preparation for this at all. Because the bloody politicians can't make up their minds for what they want/expect to happen. So there are no contingency plans whatsoever.

Hope you're happy and looking forward to the chaos if you voted for Leave.

I find people swallowing slogans theY read on the side of a red bus frightening TBH

That's because the left don't have any respect for anyone who doesn't believe in their own dogma.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 13/06/2018 12:10

the Tories now (austerity, foodbanks, NHS decline) are responsible for the UK's woes

No, the problem with the UK is the populations lack of aspiration, lack of self esteem, lack of trying, lack of educated skilled workers, reliance on the welfare state, lack of respect. The want, want, want generation. Meanwhile the Europeans have left their families and their countries in search of a better life. The problem is they send their (NMW) money home instead of spending it here.

frumpety · 13/06/2018 12:10

Need to pop out and stock up on Rothmans for Ange and a pair of marigolds , she is refusing to teak oil the patio furniture without them , says she will look ridiculous with orange hands …….Wink

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:11

The European Council is made up of representatives of all of the members states. So we have a seat at that table. That’s how we are represented.

Juncker is but one man. There are checks and balances with the European Parliament in place. He’s not some sort of dictator Hmm

We can not choose our prime minister.... so it’s a bit like that. Does that make it easy to understand?

And anyway, the EU doesn’t run this country.

Don’t be ridiculous.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 12:12

That's because the left don't have any respect for anyone who doesn't believe in their own dogma.

A referendum that was fought using mistruths, lies is not democratic. Thats before you get to Cambridge Analytica etc.

The whole leave campaign was dogma - every last slogan.

Er, no. Juncker leads the EU. What are you on about?

Juncker might be president but Merkel makes all the decisions, so he is window dressing for the real power structure. Does Trump call Juncker when he needs something to happen in the EU? No, he calls Merkel

And actually those problems I’ve listed have been given to me as reasons why leaving is a good thing.

I am glad we agree on something

You voted for being independent. Ok that’s great. But at least go and understand how the European Parliament works and that we do actually have a voting stake as individuals in it...

No we don't. I have microscopic stakes in the EU. One could call it negligible. This is a complete failing of the EU. It grew too big, too fast and are now entirely unaccountable to the people

You may think the EU is great example of democracy, a lot of people in europe would beg to differ.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:13

The European Council is made up of representatives of all of the members states. So we have a seat at that table. That’s how we are represented

But the people of Europe can't do anything to change the Council if the Council are seen to make laws and issue legislation the aforementioned people don't like.

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:13

Can we vote out EU Governance

In the same way we can’t vote out Parliament???

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:14

But the people of Europe can't do anything to change the Council if the Council are seen to make laws and issue legislation the aforementioned people don't like

You can’t do that in this country either. Your MPs do that on your behalf.

Your MEPs do that in Europe on your behalf.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 12:14

No, the problem with the UK is the populations lack of aspiration, lack of self esteem, lack of trying, lack of educated skilled workers, reliance on the welfare state, lack of respect. The want, want, want generation.

Perhaps you could visit deprived leave voting areas and tell them this? Particularly the areas with low immigration.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 12:16

I can email my MP, I can go and see him, I can ask him why my road is full of pot holes and demand to see the accounts for the year.

Can I do this with any EU MEP? No.

Does my EU MEP have any real power? No.

Will she/he be able to address the real concerns of the british people and be listened to, and new policies put in place within the EU? No.

The EU has become autocratic. I can no longer support this.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 13/06/2018 12:17

Perhaps you could visit deprived leave voting areas and tell them this?

Don't need to I live in one.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:17

A referendum that was fought using mistruths, lies is not democratic. Thats before you get to Cambridge Analytica etc

part of you want's to bring in "Russian bots" doesn't it, but the sensible side of you knows that to be bollocks.

Remain made as many henious claims, but I suppose that's alright with you? Here's but one for you:

George Osborne and the mythic "Emergency Budget with massive tax raises for everyone"

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:18

You can with your MEP. Find them here

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:19

In the same way we can’t vote out Parliament

Parliament don't make any laws or issue any legislations, do they?

As an aside, parliament's days may be numbered in the UK, a victory for democracy?

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 12:19

The EU MEPS are sitting in sessions asleep because they have no real power and no real ability to change anything.

It was the VERY reason we sent Farage so at least we could have some fun watching his ugly mug stir them from slumber.

Seriously ALL decision are made at the top, behind closed doors. There is no transparency, no accountability and this is simply NOT good enough.

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:19

The EU doesn’t cover all national policies. It covers policies which are common across nation states. There’s a difference

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:20

Parliament don't make any laws or issue any legislations, do they

😨 please tell me you are joking, right?

Right?

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:20

You can with your MEP. Find them here

But what can they do? Nothing other than collect a massive salary and huge expenses claims.

They do nothing, nada, zip, zero. it's all a sham and you've been conned.

Believeitornot · 13/06/2018 12:21

Only because you haven’t bothered to find out or even write to them..... @A4710Rider

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 12:21

Believeitornot I know who they are, thank you, but what have they done ? Absolutely nothing, and they will tell you that themselves if you were to ever attend a drinks party with them. Ask them directly what the problem is...and you listen to the answer.

Hands are tied you see.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:21

Believeitornot

Apologies, I mean the House of Lords.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 12:22

Only because you haven’t bothered to find out or even write to them

What can they do? Tell me.

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 12:23

Even in the MEPs don't expect to change or do anything. How can they achieve anything in the way it is set up? Who is listening? Certainly not the EU.

The MEPs are literally pissing in the wind.

user1486062886 · 13/06/2018 12:23

Come on we’ve all been watching the farce which is carry on Brussels
