To wonder how many of you are ready for hard Brexit, after today's Common's vote?

Because that's what's now happening, very soon.

PS According to the civil servants I know, it will be utter chaos - there has been literally basically no preparation for this at all. Because the bloody politicians can't make up their minds for what they want/expect to happen. So there are no contingency plans whatsoever.

Hope you're happy and looking forward to the chaos if you voted for Leave.

Oh come on don't be a drama queen. This isn't going to be Armageddon. People would only riot in the streets if there was a very, very severe food shortage. It's true that in bad times the bad eggs get noticed first. There may some shenanigans as such. But crisis also unites the good eggs. There's always an awful lot more good eggs than bad eggs. Anyway that's not going to happen. You've been watching too many conspiracy theories on YouTube.

WatermelonGlitter · 13/06/2018 11:24

It's the Scottish referendum all over again. The No vote won, and people were shocked, why? because they demonised the No voters, and so the no contingent, for the large part, kept quiet, or lied to avoid being attacked..but silently they voted for what they really believed rather than what was deemed publicly acceptable to believe..same with Brexit..leavers categorised as pig shit, thick, racists..so they kept quiet, but they voted, and Brexit "won". And now you wonder why no one wants to talk about it ? for the exact same reasons.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 11:25

Watermelon

Exactly the same reason as Trump.

flibbertyfive · 13/06/2018 11:26

user1486062886 - this isn't a divorce. There is no supranational body doling out 'fair' terms.

This is a negotiation. This is like you as a wife with very little power trying to negotiate with a husband vastly bigger and richer than you.

You're not going to "win" that negotiation and you were naïve in the extreme if you thought you would.

You did very nicely out of being married to such a rich, successful husband. Well, let's just say if you want a divorce now, he's not going to just roll over and give you the house because you shout and demand it. He has numerous children to support who you no longer want to see and indeed are quite hostile to, and if you want to run away then it's your lookout.

You can't put the horse back in the stable when it's already galloped over the horizon.
This

Anyone who really thought this would be easy, is an idiot.

I'm still astonished at seemingly sane people telling me that it's easy and that the economy is improving. I suspect they also think the Earth is flat and that there are fairies at the bottom of the garden.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 11:27

hey we might even get around to training our own children properly.

Good luck with that. The Tories axed bursaries for student nurses and there has subsequently been a drop in applications.

I predict the next big problem in the EU will be the UK crashing out and taking the 40 billion euros with us. Italy having a financial crisis and Spain having 2 active separatist movements. Either subsidies will be cut or Germany and France will be funding that 40 billion

Trump will demand they pay for their own defense

That ll be us too, we only get to the nato 2% of GDP by inc pensions and foreign aid!
All the more reason for a european defence force... that wont now inc UK.

The £40 billion is over decades and inc payments we are already legally bound to pay, the transition period of 2 years inc full payments.

As Eastern European economies grow, the ll require less funding, as is already happening.
So JLR moving production to eastern Europe, means they get the jobs, the high pay and knock on affects our car industry has given us.

Likewise over time, the City of London will no longer be the go to european centre of finance, its inevitable that business will go Europe, why would the ECB have its clearing done in a 3rd country, outside of its regulatory rules and structures? is the BOE in Singapore ?

Lua · 13/06/2018 11:28

@Fenwickdream - why suffer for 20 years? for what? What evidence can you possibly have that we will rise again in 20 years?

user1486062886 · 13/06/2018 11:28

LittleLionMansMummy Yes, they have, a lot of them are retired people with their wealth, 350,000 at the last check, the big difference is it’s 1.2 million going to 27 nations 5050 million pop and 3,500,000 coming here adding to a pop of 60 million, it has much more of an effect on this population

watchingwithinterest · 13/06/2018 11:29

flibbertyfive And what do we always say about abusive husbands on MN?

LEAVE

And so she shall, with her dignity and her resourceful spirit. After the dust settles she looks back and wonders why she put up with it for so long.

BertrandRussell · 13/06/2018 11:29

“If remain had won the leave voters would have gracefully accepted the result and got on with their lives. I suggest you do the same.”

Well, Nigel Farage wouldn’t have- to name but one!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 11:30

3 Times as many EU nationals live in the UK. At least.

And without them, healthcare, agriculture and hospitality industries would suffer. There is already fruit rotting in the fields due to EU workers going elsewhere.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 11:30

The Tories axed bursaries for student nurses and there has subsequently been a drop in applications

Got love the lefties.

What did they replace it with and why?

walnutwood · 13/06/2018 11:30

Planes are going to be grounded because of Brexit? Grin I’ve really heard it all now!

flibbertyfive · 13/06/2018 11:31

watchingwithinterest - don't worry, I shall be using family history to get an EU passport. But most Brits aren't as lucky as me in that respect and aren't able to do that.

In all honesty, I strongly suspect I shall end up living in an EU countey where I don't speak the language, just because there will at least be jobs and a functioning health service there.

No idea what will happen to my PIL, who retired to Spain but now face having to return to the UK in old age, because all healthcare might be stopped.

No idea how much that will cost the UK, when the NHS is suddenly inundated by millions of elderly former expats having to return home for treatment.

40 Billion is owed by Britain to the EU. It is not a 'fine' or anything, just settlement for ongoing business that will be abandoned.
Do you normally walk out of the supermarket without paying?
Yes there are an assortment of problems affecting the EU and the whole world, too many children for a start and the all new robots that are going to make everything will make the situation worse.
Realising that the worldwide work pattern NEEDS to change and implementing it is a major challenge. NONE of this is EU specific.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/06/2018 11:31

If Remain had won many Leave voters would have beeen relieved because they only voted Leave as protest and didn’t actually want to win.

A4710Rider · 13/06/2018 11:32

And without them, healthcare, agriculture and hospitality industries would suffer

Please note, I was pointing out the poster's incorrect information. We do need fruitpickers. Mainly because a lot of people like you and others here think fruit picking is beneath their children.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/06/2018 11:33

Let's just do it. See what happens, we're not going to die are we.

See what happens, we're not going to die. Grin

Might be terrible for 1,5,10,20 years but them we will rise again. That's life. Hopefully we'll be back up for my children to lead a better life.

Let's fuck ourselves over, because that's life. #Brexiteerlogic.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 11:34

What did they replace it with and why?

Fuck all by the looks of it.

walnutwood Yes they are.

Onlyoldontheoutside · 13/06/2018 11:36

The trouble is the government are doing the same as MN ers do on here.
Given that we are leaving in March why can't they get their arses in gear, stop finger pointing and bickering and actually do the job in hand.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/06/2018 11:37

We do need fruitpickers. Mainly because a lot of people like you and others here think fruit picking is beneath their children.

You'll find that there are shortages in areas of low unemployment. Your statements are fact free. Why should leavers break the habit of a life time?

LifeBeginsAtGin · 13/06/2018 11:37

So tell me, if the Remoaners and Europhiles in Westminster delay/sabotage/filibuster votes in the hope of reversing the decision and we end up staying in the EU, what does that say for British politics and democracy?
