to feel like something isn't right? 19weeks pg and feeling a bit weird...

Not sure if this is my maternal 'need to protect' instinct kicking in. Had morning sickness for a few weeks in the beginning. Almost gone completely now. Had a lovely lazy weekend but haven't felt right since yesterday.

Feeling very sick, but not like morning sickness, nor like a bug. Just very nauseous. I also have a headache (I'm well hydrated and don't get headaches - ever!). Feeling quite dizzy, and just want to sit and do nothing. I don't know why but I just have this strong gut instinct that something isn't right.

AIBU to feel like this? AIB silly to want to get checked out with my gp? I rarely go to the docs but just feel... weird!

Sad

This wait is agonising...

Waiting is the worst. I’m sure it’ll all be ok xx

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 16:31

Had my blood pressure done again and it's jumped from 119/60 to 142/85 - they're not telling me much.

My constant advice to pregnant women is to listen to your body. I’d felt rough from about 30 weeks and was being monitored due to high BP and protein in my urine, but the night I turned 35 Weeks I just felt something was wrong. It felt like my head was too big for my body, I couldn’t sleep, something just wasn’t right. My midwife came round and said probably best to get checked out - one of my twins wasn’t moving and was almost gone, I had an emcs within two hours of arriving. I never would have gone off my own back as I fell ridiculous but doing so saved his life. I’m so glad you’ve gone to get checked out.

Snape · 11/06/2018 16:36

I hope everything is ok and that you feel better soon. Well done for getting checked, you cant be too careful with pregnancy.

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 16:38

Starting to get a bit uncomfortable now. Been waiting two hours, so hungry, anxious, too much time to think.. Sad

They gave me a chicken sandwich about an hour ago but only had two slices of toast at 7:30am before this. Was to worried to eat and just didn't get round to it. Would I be cheeky to ask to go and get some food? I suppose they might not let me. I'm really hungry.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 11/06/2018 16:56

Don’t go and get any food say you’re feeling light headed (as you are) and ask them to bring you something to eat.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 11/06/2018 16:57

I wouldn’t leave the ward, your bp has risen and you’re feeling off. I’m not saying anything is wrong, just that I don’t think wondering off on your own is the best idea xx

ReadytoTalk · 11/06/2018 17:20

Id ask them if they can bring you something to eat.

MrsMozart · 11/06/2018 17:23

Definitely ask!

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 11/06/2018 17:28

See if they'll get you some toast and jam.

They're normally pretty good.

LittleMissB83 · 11/06/2018 17:52

That BP reading is not good, stay on the ward but ask them to bring you something. Could be white coat syndrome hopefully! I had that a few times too.

Mooey89 · 11/06/2018 17:53

Hope you’re ok. I’m sure they’d bring you something if you ask, unless theyr tying to keep you nil by mouth?

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 17:56

They didn't even say anything about my blood pressure even though I told them I've never seen it above 120/80 (and that's high for me) and I don't get white coat syndrome! Doc said it's my gallbladder. They would usually remove it but won't do anything during pregnancy and sent me home. Glad they weren't concerned but weirdly I don't feel any better or any more at ease...

OP posts:
BrutusMcDogface · 11/06/2018 17:57

What?! It's your gall bladder, now off you go?! Hmm

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 17:59

brutus said blood tests were normal. Did an examination. Told me he was almost 100% it was my gallbladder causing issues. Told me they can't do anything and to go to docs after I've had the baby...

OP posts:
MrsMozart · 11/06/2018 17:59

Eh?!

What was the debrief? What's the follow up?

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 18:00

No mention of the fact that my bp indicated mild hypertension even if the first reading was ok...

OP posts:
MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 18:00

mrsmozart that was it! I just walked out...

peneleope82 · 11/06/2018 18:05

Just to reassure you it is very very very unusual to show symptoms of pre-eclampsia pre 24 weeks. Possible obviously and if you’re still concerned definitely see your midwife but it would be v unusual.

If it is your gallbladder, try cutting down on high fat and spicy foods. Drink lots of water and keep an eye on the pain. There are painkillers safe to take in pregnancy that your GP can supply you with.

Absofrigginlootly · 11/06/2018 18:08

OP and anyone else reading this thread I saw this poster at local maternity unit the other day and thought it was worth sharing.

You did the right thing going in. Hope you start to feel better soon

Astrid2 · 11/06/2018 18:08

That bp isn't tooo bad. If you're feeling very anxious and worked up then it will be higher!

BuntyCollocks · 11/06/2018 18:12

I wouldn’t be concerned about your BP, especially as it was only one reading that was slightly off, it’s more than likely raised because you’re in pain, in hospital, and worried. Gallbladder issues are quite common after pregnancy for some reason: looks like yours is just a bit keen to cause problems!

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 18:27

I'd have thought he'd have wanted to check my gallbladder out or at least write a referral. I don't even know what your gallbladder does or what treatment it would need, what to do if I'm in pain etc. I guess I should just be glad it's nothing too serious!
