to feel like something isn't right? 19weeks pg and feeling a bit weird...

Not sure if this is my maternal 'need to protect' instinct kicking in. Had morning sickness for a few weeks in the beginning. Almost gone completely now. Had a lovely lazy weekend but haven't felt right since yesterday.

Feeling very sick, but not like morning sickness, nor like a bug. Just very nauseous. I also have a headache (I'm well hydrated and don't get headaches - ever!). Feeling quite dizzy, and just want to sit and do nothing. I don't know why but I just have this strong gut instinct that something isn't right.

AIBU to feel like this? AIB silly to want to get checked out with my gp? I rarely go to the docs but just feel... weird!

Sad

I’d call the midwife team tonight. They were great with me whenever I had odd symptoms that made me feel anxious.
You are probably fine, but best of luck with it.

fuzzywuzzy · 10/06/2018 22:11

I would go call your midwife.

I had phone numbers on the front of my notes folder. I ended up going into hospital for monitoring twice due to low movement.

I’d call the midwife. Better to be checked over.

BrutusMcDogface · 11/06/2018 07:43

How are you feeling this morning, Mama ?

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 08:05

Hi brutus - not sure. Still a bit headachey. Didn't sleep at all so exhausted. Morning sickness seems to have reappeared after a few weeks of almost none. Pain in my belly just above and to the right of my belly button. Going to call the EPAU at 9 as soon as their phone lines open.

Thanks for checking in!

Definitely go to the Drs, but I also have naturally low blood pressure and my midwife said between weeks 16-20 your blood pressure drops even further, so told me to be prepared to feel quite rough over that period, and maybe experience fainting spells. You could be experiencing that, and the anxiety you’re feeling could be the cause of feeling sick and causing stomach pain (when I’m stressed it can make me feel almost like I have a stomach bug). I’m only 10 weeks so haven’t experienced that yet and I don’t know how it feels, but just wanted to comment as you said you have naturally low blood pressure. Hope everything goes ok at the Drs for you.

Sunshinegirl82 · 11/06/2018 08:21

Definitely get checked out, might be nothing but I think when pg it's wise to have a low bar for seeking medical attention. Is your temp still normal? The pain made me think about appendicitis which is obviously definitely worth ruling out!

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 08:27

sunshine - not appendicitis, had it removed when I was 16 Grin

Still going to see if I can see the doctor today however as not feeling great.

The belly pain could be round ligament pain. Best to get checked if still not feeling yourself, especially if you've had a recent UTI and still weeing lots. I had a UTI and didn't have any of the obvious symptoms like pain when weeing or even going overly frequently, just felt off and not my usual self

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 11/06/2018 08:46

I'd go in and get monitoredz

I knew something wasn't right with my first and I was right. Some of my symptoms were similar to yours, plus others.

I hope all is OK and just extreme fatigue.

BottleOfJameson · 11/06/2018 09:18

Probably just pregnancy hormones and body stretching I would still go in. Things like blood pressure and blood sugar are so easy to check there's no harm in being safe.

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 09:32

EPAU won't see me without a referral. No gp appointments available. Midwife not picking up. Argh!

NambiBambi · 11/06/2018 09:47

Is there a walk-in centre or anywhere like that you can go? Feeling like you might not wake up or like you might die can be a sign of sepsis. It's most probably not but it's not worth taking the risk. I hope you can see or speak to someone soon. Nhs direct might be able to advise where you can go without an appointment or referral. I hope you feel better soon!

spacepoodle · 11/06/2018 09:50

Is there a general triage/community midwives number you can call?

Failing that I'd call 111, they may be able to make a referral or get you seen by someone.

HyenaHappy · 11/06/2018 09:51

Thinking of you. Worth getting checked out Flowers

BifsWif · 11/06/2018 09:53

If your midwife isn’t available, there is an eme
Midwife usually listed on a sticker on the front of your green book.

Failing that call the labour ward and ask the receptionist for advice.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 11/06/2018 09:55

Head to your nearest walk in/polyclinic. Can’t be too careful. Good luck.

Mousefunky · 11/06/2018 09:57

Don’t worry about kick counting yet OP, just saw a PP mentioned that. You are far too early to be feeling regular movements. You’re also not in ‘early pregnancy’ so I don’t think EPAU will see you (they’re up to 16 weeks in my area anyway then it switches to the maternity unit). I would call 111, they will get you an out of hours doctors appointment. It could just be a stomach bug, hope all is well Flowers.

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 10:01

Thanks mouse - I don't think I could possible count kicks yet! They're so subtle that unless I'm concentrating I could easily miss them. I was told not to worry about counting them until 24 weeks.

EPAU said they would see me with a referral but they would likely only do tests that my midwife or gp could do so it'd be a pointless journey considering how far away they are from me.

Waiting for midwife to get back to me. Hopefully soon! I understand they are incredibly busy people.

Hopefully all ok. Don't think it's a stomach bug as it doesn't feel at all like one, probably lots of stretching and normal pregnancy stuff! Feel a bit silly for worrying so much but hopefully I can get it checked out just to ease my mind.

Thanks everyone.

Definitely try and get seen soon. The feeling of doom can be associated with something quite serious. In my case, it was s blood clot. Doesn’t sound like that in your case as other symptoms don’t match, but the feeling was so unusual for me, it made me get checked out and thank goodness I did. Hope you get sorted.

mommybear1 · 11/06/2018 10:12

Hope you get sorted soon OP better to check even just for peace of mind xx

JELLYFISHANDCHIPS · 11/06/2018 10:27

Just to clarify, I didn't suggest counting kicks, I suggested Kicks Count which is a charity that highlights awareness of movements in pregnancy amongst other things . I mentioned them because one of the things they say is to get checked out if you don't feel right for ANY reason.

Hope you manage to get seen today

Clubcuts · 11/06/2018 10:33

Please se your GP

MamaNenwa · 11/06/2018 11:05

Can't get through to my gp. Midwife has her phone turned off. Don't want to call 111 as they will say what they always say 'see a care provider within 2 hours' and off I trot to a&e for a urine sample. I'm not sure who else to call... the birthing centre I'm under? Really stuck here...

Thanks jelly I've had a look and it's actually really useful. Trying to get hold of someone now with no success...

PinkAvocado · 11/06/2018 11:17

Is there a central midwife office? Or a day assessment unit? The DAU would normally need a referral but given you can’t get hold of anyone to be referred thy may give you a number for the midwives centrally even if not your own, one of the team.
