Help!!!! Moving house today and DH is sick

Help! DH has said he feels too unwell to drive to the new house. He does look shite. But what do I do?? It's a 2 hour drive, hes been asleep since 8pm last night and he's still in bed. The moving people are coming at 10.30 and the bed hasn't been taken down, as he's in it still.

Please help me work out a plan of action. I think I might have to leave one car here and come back for it tomorrow?

You have movers? So you just need to drive yourselves and your cars? I would say exactly that, leave his car there until he's well enough to come back and get it. Unless he can dose up on paracetamol and get a grip

choppolata · 09/06/2018 08:31

I'm sure he will be fine after his 12 hour sleep!

ferrier · 09/06/2018 08:31

Move him onto the sofa and stack up anything he needs around him including anything he may need for the drive.
Sort out bed as best you can.
Move second car out of the way.
2 hour drive is nothing. You will be fine.
But make sure to have anything dh needs in the car too.

StripySocksAndDocs · 09/06/2018 08:32

Due to lack of choice, he gets up and gets on with it.

Littletreefrog · 09/06/2018 08:32

Unless he is actually bed bound he needs to get out of bed. If he is really incapable of helping in anyway he needs to get himself out of the way, is there a friend or relatives house he can go to?
Then you can sort the bed out, removal people take all the stuff, you drive DH to new property in one car. Then everything and everyone and one car are at the new house. Sort out the other car another time.

honeybeeq · 09/06/2018 08:33

@HarryLovesDraco yes I've told him to get the biggest grip he can ducking manage. I've packed the entire house up with no help, we do have movers. 🤦‍♀️ I've turfed him into the spare room so that the movers can take the bed apart, that bed is staying as it's the landlords. He does look unwell I'm certain he feels like shit but he needs to help!

Don't really know enough to make any suggestions.

Have you sold the house? So have to be out by x time? Or do you have flexibility?

Any family or close friends nearby?

What sort of sick? D&V? Or something more manageable/ less contagious?

DragonflyInn · 09/06/2018 08:35

Sorry x post. I type too slowly!

Almostthere15 · 09/06/2018 08:36

What awful timing. I'd double dose him (paracetamol and ibruprofen), he can move to the sofa. Park the second car and assume you're coming back for it tomorrow. Clear the red and you're all ready to go. Depending on what he has make sure you have relevant supplies in the car (sick bucket/bags, water, medicine). When you reach the new house he can sleep again. They usually put the bed in first. Just pack a plastic bag of bedding if it's still accessible, if not he'll just have to sleep on the mattress.

You can get through this. Then he owes you big when he's better!

honeybeeq · 09/06/2018 08:36

It's just a very heavy cold, but he's not helping at all.

nancy75 · 09/06/2018 08:42

So he’s got man flu? Sorry but he needs a kick up the backside

Littletreefrog · 09/06/2018 08:43

It's just a very heavy cold, but he's not helping at all. Is he normally a prat of is this a one off?

SoupDragon · 09/06/2018 08:44

He has a cold?? He needs to get s grip and just get on with moving. There’s plenty of time to be ill once you’ve moved.

toolonglurking · 09/06/2018 08:44

A cold?! Tell him to get the fuck up and stop being ridiculous!

PotteringAlong · 09/06/2018 08:44

It’s a cold?! He needs to man up here.

SimonBridges · 09/06/2018 08:45

It's just a very heavy cold, but he's not helping at all.

Then I’d leave him in the house and move on your own.

D&V I’d say fair enough but this is silly. Are you wrangling DC too?

honeybeeq · 09/06/2018 08:46

This is a total one off. He's usually really good when he's sick, but today of all days he decides he needs to stay in bed! He worked up until yesterday and has probably over worked himself again!! But generally speaking he's usually pretty okay when he's unwell

OP posts:
GinIsIn · 09/06/2018 08:48

Wait, he has a COLD? And you’re going along with all this? Tell him to put on his big girl pants and get the hell up! D&V or pneumonia, fair enough, but it’s a bloody cold! And you have movers so it’s not like you’re expecting him to lug boxes. Confused

Labradoodliedoodoo · 09/06/2018 08:49

Does he usually pull this sort of stunt?

pilates · 09/06/2018 08:50

Just bung him in the car with a duvet but really he does need to man up.

bigchris · 09/06/2018 08:50

Oh god stop treating him like a child

Tell him the movers are coming and you'll direct them to him so get the fuck out of bed

DavetheCat2001 · 09/06/2018 08:50

Blimey OP..I thought he had food poisoning or gastroenteritis or something! A bloody cold?????

I can't imagine you'd be lying there like a ruddy useless snowflake if you weren't feeling 100%.

Tell him to get the fuck up and pull his weight!

HarryLovesDraco · 09/06/2018 08:51

Does he have a temperature? Because if so, paracetamol will deal with it for long enough to drive to the new house. A heavy cold. Jeez

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 09/06/2018 08:51

Maybe he has flu?

It's crap but I was in a hotel when I had swine flu and had to move rooms. That was all the energy I could muster - believe me.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/06/2018 08:52

He does know your moving today and therefore can’t just stay in bed???Confused
