....to be annoyed by my son's Father's Day song

So my son is 5 and is practising songs for a little Father's Day concert the school are doing for the dads next week. So last night he's just singing along to himself and he sings....
' don't tell mum cos she'll get cross. In our house my dad's the boss....'

I just really don't think it's ok but not sure! Don't really want him thinking that, or singing that or even really considering the idea of there being a boss at all in the house. I know it's a joke but....

Crikey! That's awful?

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/06/2018 18:20

Call me dull but I don’t think that’s funny at all Hmm

BrutusMcDogface · 07/06/2018 18:21

Shock that's appalling!

Domino20 · 07/06/2018 18:22

Wow, so bad!!

rosamacrose · 07/06/2018 18:22

I meant ! Not ?

BabiesDontNeedDaddies · 07/06/2018 18:24

Wow that's a disgusting message to be sending to kids

Stompythedinosaur · 07/06/2018 18:26

I would be very unhappy about that!

Sharkwithknees · 07/06/2018 18:26

Wow, that's bad!! Shock

grasspigeons · 07/06/2018 18:27

cringe
not a great message at all

I equally hate the mothers day one where is goes 'she does the washing, cooking, cleaning because she loves us so'

JamPasty · 07/06/2018 18:46

I think I would have to be THAT PARENT and demand that the school actually leave the 19fucking50s and join the rest of us in the 21st century where that sort of shite is supposed to be long behind us.

artmo · 07/06/2018 19:05

Ok so this is what I am wondering. Do I say something? My husband is also outraged BTW and thinks maybe he should say something. What do you think?

SoddingUnicorns · 07/06/2018 19:06

I’d say something. What a ridiculous song!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/06/2018 19:07

I was listening to a song a little person I know was learning at school - something about how kids are supposed to be messy and they just can't help it, so mum has to tidy up after them. Pah.

JamPasty · 07/06/2018 19:09

Definitely say something!!

Aeroflotgirl · 07/06/2018 19:11

Oh god thats dreadful😵😵

overnightangel · 07/06/2018 19:13

That’s unbelievable😖

Helloisitteaurlookingfor · 07/06/2018 19:14

I wonder if other parents feel the same way? Could you find out and get a few to complain to make the point. Even if not, I do think something needs to be said.

Poloshot · 07/06/2018 19:14

😂😂😂

rollingonariver · 07/06/2018 19:14

Yuck.
Kids do say silly things though, he may have picked it up at school?

daimbars · 07/06/2018 19:40

YANBU that's disgraceful!

Lostoldusername · 07/06/2018 19:46

Doesn't bother me, I find it quite funny. Like the song "ya canny throw yer granny off the bus" (you can't throw your Mums mum but you can your Dad's Mum Grin)

toomanypillows · 07/06/2018 19:47

I would complain. I complained at DD's Mother's Day one last year when they sang "my mum may not have a degree, that's ok she's clever enough for me."
So much wrong with it. This stuff needs challenging and it needs doing early doors.
Good luck op

artmo · 07/06/2018 19:55

So I just had parents evening and I confirmed that these are definitely the actual lyrics of the song. I said I had a problem with it and the teacher just kind of laughed. So shall I write an email to the headmaster? DH thinking of wearing his 'this is what a feminist looks like' t shirt to the event. Trying to dissuade.

OP posts:
DitheringBlidiot · 07/06/2018 19:58

What a fucking dreadful song! Get your DH to wear the top, and send an email to the school. I wouldn’t normally advocate it but sometimes you need to be “that parent”

MaryThorne · 07/06/2018 20:00

Shockthat's appalling, definitely say something!
