Reposted from Feminism Chat as more people need to see this.

Neither Miller nor Yearwood have got times that would be remotely remarkable for boys (200th and 443rd respectively) but they are smashing the girls' records out of the park as now they identify as girls, they're allowed to race them instead.

Watch the face of the girl who comes third. That's pretty much her best ever 100m race. But she didn't win.

Self identification means this kind of thing will keep on happening. If you value women's sport and think that women and girls deserve to compete on a level playing field, please sign the petition: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

I see

CoughLaughFart · 09/06/2018 20:04

It’s ONE example that CLAIMS 365 incidences.

TransplantsArePlants · 09/06/2018 20:05

OK

LunaTrap · 09/06/2018 20:06

What do you think about the example in the OP Cough?

CoughLaughFart · 09/06/2018 20:07

I think it’s an unsubstantiated claim.

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/06/2018 20:09

It’s a peer reviewed journal article that estimates that the 635 rapes that occurred in toilets in that one township could be reduced significantly if single sex provision was in. One township.

Then one example of a transwoman following a girl into a toilet and assaulting her in the uk. Convicted in court, so let’s assume that actually happened eh?

Then one example of a man following a woman into a toilet and raping her in the uk.

Which exactly don’t you believe? And why?

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/06/2018 20:10

Ok let’s take one example. Mark Lazarus. Do you disbelieve that this happened? He was convicted in a UK court.

Are you actually saying that no woman ever has been assaulted in the loos? Because that’s a tad naive.

LunaTrap · 09/06/2018 20:10

What, do you think the footage of the race was staged or that the winner and runner up aren't male?

CoughLaughFart · 09/06/2018 20:12

Are you actually saying that no woman ever has been assaulted in the loos?

Where have I said that?

Lemonjello · 09/06/2018 20:13

So you’re equally concerned about women going into the men’s?

I’m sure if men have a problem with this they will let everyone know and also sure that everyone would support men having privacy from women whilst using the toilet.

Also just wondering, do we need to show equal concern to things that affect men and not us?

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/06/2018 20:15

You asked for an example. I have one.

So, we accept that men have and will assault women in the loos?

Now, back to sport. What’s your opinion on the op?

One person had already had their post deleted for calling me a troll. Grow up and accept someone disagrees with you.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/06/2018 20:19

Have I missed your post in regards to what the thread is about

Or are you just trying to pick apart post to prove to yourself that we are all transphobic

CoughLaughFart · 09/06/2018 20:20

If you don’t think transphobia is a problem, fine - you crack on love. But don’t expect not to be picked up on it.

Lemonjello · 09/06/2018 20:22

Do report any transphobia you see, mumsnet will delete transphobic posts.

TransplantsArePlants · 09/06/2018 20:22

Pratchet

Yes.

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/06/2018 20:23

I’m sure you do disagree with me.

That’s ok.

What do you think about wlad vs Khan? Is that Ok?

JacquesHammer · 09/06/2018 20:27

I presume you’re reporting it? Because MN will delete as per their protocol.

However that won’t happen because they can distinguish between relevant concern and transphobia.

SuitedandBooted · 09/06/2018 20:27

I don't think there's any need to engage further with CoughLaughFart. It's derailing the thread.

Back to the OP,
What can be done here to stop Self ID'd males pushing girls and women out of sport?

CoughLaughFart · 09/06/2018 20:30

However that won’t happen because they can distinguish between relevant concern and transphobia.

You’ve got nothing to worry about then, have you?

JacquesHammer · 09/06/2018 20:32

You’ve got nothing to worry about then, have you

Absolutely not.

Do I worry about trans people? No.

Do I support their rights? Yes.

Do I want to play rugby against a man? No.

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/06/2018 20:34

I think unfortunately it may take the serious injury of a woman in a contact sport in a highly televised event like the olympics.

Surely the current EA allows for segregation here? If this happens here again it’s like swim England - assuming and having been told the legislation is coming and to be ahead, then with biased advice from pressure groups.

The solution then is to publicise it when it happens and remind governing bodies that the EA is still in force and can be applied here. And to provide guidance that’s based on the actual law.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/06/2018 20:35

I have signed the petition

Given up my Labour Party Membership thought this was initially to do with leadership and Brexit their stance on Self ID was the final straw. I have written a few time and received no response

I have informed other women what Self ID actually means and how it can impact girls/women and how our voices of concern can be silenced should it go through. All were shocked and fully on board along with my mum and her friends

When there is a march I shall be there along with many women I know including some women in their 80’s
