Reposted from Feminism Chat as more people need to see this.

Neither Miller nor Yearwood have got times that would be remotely remarkable for boys (200th and 443rd respectively) but they are smashing the girls' records out of the park as now they identify as girls, they're allowed to race them instead.

Watch the face of the girl who comes third. That's pretty much her best ever 100m race. But she didn't win.

Self identification means this kind of thing will keep on happening. If you value women's sport and think that women and girls deserve to compete on a level playing field, please sign the petition: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

Bowlofbabelfish

Absolutely. Hannah Mouncey has already broken a competitor’s leg. Unfortunately women’s AFL is still a minority sport in terms of exposure

sheldonesque · 09/06/2018 20:43

And who states they are 'Living the struggle of finding size 15 shoes. '

I am living the struggle of my rights as a woman being eroded. I care not about my ruddy feet.

InTheRoseGarden · 09/06/2018 20:45

And so it begins: the death of women's competitive sports. We need to wake up and fight this bullshit NOW.

"Woman" isn't a feeling it is a biological fact and biology matters. In sport, healthcare, crime prevention, social care etc. etc. etc.

How long do we have before women and girls stop competing because it is impossible for them to beat the men they will have to compete against? How long before crime statistics show that "women" are becoming more violent?

This post is on another thread. I have copied and pasted.

*From a pissed off American:

  1. Sisters/friends: THIS is what happens with self-ID. Feminists warning of harm to females are not fear-mongering. Female erasure is real.
  1. The U.S. law in transgender issues is rather murky. There is no real federal statute equivalent to your GRC or self-ID. States can individually set laws regarding birth certificates, bathrooms, etc. (A federal passport can have gender changed with simply a letter from a physician stating diagnosis of gender dysphoria and that the individual is living as the alternative gender.)

There is, however, a federal law passed in 1972 regarding sex discrimination and education. It's called Title IX. It reads, "no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." This is now being used as a basis for extending transgender rights in all public schools and universities, including athletics. To my knowledge, the court cases challenging this have thus far supported the inclusion of transgender rights with sex discrimination, though it has not been tested at the level of the Supreme Court.

  1. The NCAA is the governing body for competitive collegiate athletics. Fortunately, they still have some regulations in place for sex and participation. Currently, any MTF athlete must have completed one year of testosterone suppression before participation on a women's team. (But can still fully participate and receive scholarships.)
  1. State championships are a big effin' deal here, and Connecticut is a highly populated state. (It has over 260 high schools.) This is not some insignificant local event. These races are the basis for scholarships, and as has been pointed out, potentially life changing. Girls are losing opportunities to accommodate the fantasies of two boys, (for whom I am also quite sorry)*
EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/06/2018 20:52

SuitedandBooted though I believe the vast majority of people will think Self ID is ludicrous most people won’t peobably give it that much though until something happens where they feel it impacts them personally or their close family (and it shall do soon enough)

But where people we be able to see with the own eyes the injustice of how girls and women are placed
in situations that is just unfair on them they shall I believe give the issue more thought and it will be examined and picked apart by the general public more

Sadly a few girls and women are going to have to loose out for this to happen how fucking unfair

Said every loser ever.

And no doubt quite specifically said to the (real) girls in that race. Suck it up girls, men may be upset if you don't play "nice".

BlackeyedSusan · 09/06/2018 22:59

well the boys can joyfyully celebrate oneself in the boys race then.

This is disgraceful. The girls shouldn’t have even bothered running and boycotted it. Then the 2 lads would have just looked like right dicks.

OlennasWimple · 10/06/2018 00:03

Boys who compete against girls are just cheaters, plain and simple, as much as if they were following the Ben Jonson Regime for Enhanced Performance

Italiangreyhound · 10/06/2018 04:01

This happens in other sports too.

off.road.cc/content/news/transgender-rider-causes-confusion-for-new-zealand-downhill-race-field-1506

"The news comes as a result of Kate Weatherly's involvement in races but not because she's a transgender rider, but because there was just a three-week period between her competing in male and female categories. Last Sunday Weatherly won the national women's DH championship, 13 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Shania Rawson, but up until December last year rode in the men's categories."

BlackeyedSusan · 10/06/2018 08:23

it is not right.

noeffingidea · 10/06/2018 09:42

Sports should be a joyful celebration of oneself, not about winning and losing
If that was true there would be no first, second and third place, no medals, no records. People would just ... run.
Oh yeah, they already do that. It's called exercise, fun runs, and so on. Competitive sport is about competing.

Precisely, no effing.

Andrewofgg · 10/06/2018 10:21

The parents of these lads must be the stuff of nightmares - dollar signs in their eyes.

Magpiesarehuge · 10/06/2018 10:51

In an ideal world, that discussion could take place without deliberately misgendering named individuals, as that's one of the lines drawn in the sand by MNHQ. It's a shame to see so much of it happening on this thread, especially since the people being discussed are children

MIsgendering? The whole pretending that that man is a woman, praising how gorgeous and feminine they look, calling then she/her etc - this whole pretence - once perpetuated out of kindness and tolerance, a pretence now being forced on an entire population - is how we have got to this crazy situation.

SuitedandBooted · 10/06/2018 10:53

The comments on Twitter show how few people are on board with this - so WHY is it allowed??

twitter.com/GameTimeCT/status/1003739370736816129

I asked DD (14) what she would do, and she said she wouldn't react to the starting pistol, just stand up, and stay on the line. I think she WOULD do that too, as she is very aware of fairness, and knows gas-lighting bullshit when she see it! However, she is not in the same situation as those American girls. She takes part in county comps, but doesn't have to compete for a Sports Scholarship to university - she will take the usual grades & fees route.

Those girls are being robbed of possible university places by boys who wouldn't have a prayer if they competed with other males. They should either run against the other boys, or in an "Open" category.

TimeLady · 10/06/2018 10:59

I vaguely recall the name Renee Richards form women's tennis in the 70s. The story is interesting

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renée_Richards

Her long-time friend Gene Scott then invited her to play in his professional tennis tournament, the Tennis Week Open in South Orange, New Jersey. The USTA and the WTA then withdrew their sanction for the Tennis Week Open, and organized another tournament; 25 of the 32 participants withdrew from the Tennis Week Open.[3][4][6] This was just the beginning of the issues Richards would encounter in trying to play professional women's tennis, which eventually led to her suing the USTA and winning. Richards played professionally from 1977 to 1981 when she retired at age 47.

Misgendering? The people being discussed here are BOYS and GIRLS, taking part in an unfair competition. That is the whole point

Stop it. Stop it now. Enough of this ridiculous, regressive, misogynistic, me me me mind-fuck!

SupermatchGame · 10/06/2018 11:06

three-week period between her competing in male and female categories.

Because they have stated horse racing is a sport where the sex/ gender of the rider doesn't make much difference. Men and women jockeys compete against each other anyway.

Andrewofgg · 10/06/2018 11:07

Elegantly put SuitedandBooted and if that leaves a few genuine types without a field to compete with it’s JTB.

Pratchet · 10/06/2018 11:11

Wiki trans is written by transactivists who conspire on an anti-feminist stance.

OrchidInTheSun · 10/06/2018 11:15

What the fuck has horse riding got to do with anything Supermatch? Kate Weatherly is a cyclist you plonker Hmm

There's no such thing as downhill horse riding Grin
