Something seriously wrong with development.

What could this mean? My DN's health visitor has just said this. She basically told dsis she is a shit mother and "how could you not notice something seriously wrong with his development." She has told her she is getting multiple agencies involved now.

The reasons she has given? He knocks his knees against the sofa. According to the health visitor thats a serious case of self harm.

He doesnt talk (his talking is delayed but he is finally started saying the odd word.)

And finally he is too friendly apparently and he should be shy around strangers.

Has anyone got any experience of this? The same health visitor told dsis she wasnt observant of his hearing problems 6 months ago. Dsis took him for a hearing test and his hearing was perfect.
My aibu mainly is aibu to help dsis put in an official complaint?

I have a 4 year old recently diagnosed with autism. He had speech delay and stimmed as a baby/toddler. After the 2.5 year check we were referred to a council run speech development group then at 3 nursery referred to SALT.

I have worked with HV and have experience through my own children too. Their knowledge about autism and children is variable as they come from varying training backgrounds as nurses. Your sister's HV sounds very unhelpful, if it were me I would request another for the 2.5 year check or just go via the GP if concerned.

The ones I have worked with use the ASQ 3 and ASQ SE to help assess development.

24 month ASQ 3

24 month ASQ SE

Haven't read every page but have you considered glue ear?
My friend's son had a speech delay, seemed like he would ignore you talking to him but then other times would react.
I was reading an article about glue ear in a magazine and I rang my friend because this described her son perfectly.
Glue ear comes and goes, so sometimes the ear clears enough for them to pass a hearing test - he had previously been tested and passed. But it can cause a speech delay.
Worth considering.
And yes HV is a knob by the sound of it

Ray its not glue ear as he has been checked as it runs in the family both me and dbro have had it.
