So, due to a ridiculously wonderful very over catered family event I find myself in possession of a whole wheel of Brie (an half a wheel of Stilton but that’s a whole other thread...) . And I don’t really like it (at least raw? Which I think is only way I’ve had it? What can I do with it? Can I cook it? What recipies work? Or is it food of devil?

I can’t take it to work. They already think I’m some middle class country bumpkin. If I take a wheel of cheese in they’ll stone me with their Costa Cups.

For those that are pregnant I was told last week by midwife that it's ok if cooked, I was over the moon (it may have been the first thing I mentioned to th when he asked how my appt went), as soon as this morning (all day) sickness goes I'm going to have a lovely gooey brie, bacon and cranberry baguette mmmmm

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2018 18:48

I try to like brie but it's not a favourite. Are you supposed to eat the crusty bit on the outside?

I was told to try baked camembert, I did and it was revolting.

I will stick with strong cheddar I think. Grin

Love brie. I melt it in a pan and pour it over spaghetti. It's like a heart attack but so good.

Fruitbat1980 · 04/06/2018 18:49

Will I lose support if I say I love a bit of Edam?!

Goes well on crackers with Australian honey

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2018 18:52

Ooh I love a bit of Edam Fruitbat. Also Dairylea Triangles and Dunkers. Oh and Babybels.

SharkSave · 04/06/2018 18:54

Bacon, brie and broccoli risotto
Bacon, brie and cranberry panini

I cut the rind off though, it tastes mouldy otherwise!

Redcrayons · 04/06/2018 18:56

I’m a bit of a cheese philistine, but even I love Brie Especially with cranberry sauce.
The Stilton wouldn’t even make it inside the house, if chuck it in hen wheelie bin.

Frenchiemamax · 04/06/2018 19:05

Camembert has the weirdest after taste. I’m absolutely over the moon that us preggers folk can have cooked Brie! Sending DH to Tesco for the biggest wheel he can find.

QueenOfMyWorld · 04/06/2018 19:05

Not a brie fan, doesnt taste of much

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 04/06/2018 19:10

YABU

I have no interest in taking MDMA. But if you wrapped it in Brie, I probably would. If I had a whole wheel I would give myself a heart attack, and when they cut me open my arteries would be full of Brie.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 04/06/2018 19:12

Edam?! EDAM?!!!

A pointless excuse for a cheese!

MotherofPearl · 04/06/2018 19:15

Cut it into large wedges, dip in flour, then beaten egg, then panko breadcrumbs, then fry in plenty of flavourless oil until golden and delicious. Serve with nice bread. Cranberry sauce on the side optional. My mouth is watering at the thought of it!

MadisonAvenue · 04/06/2018 19:16

YANBU! It just doesn't taste of anything.

FromageAffray · 04/06/2018 19:27

Another jealous pregnant woman craving the Brie! The haters make me think of this 😝

Storminateapot · 04/06/2018 19:33

My BFF & I always get a big chunk of Brie, crusty bread & butter for our girly catch-up evenings. We joke that if we went away for a week together we'd have to take an entire wheel of it with us. Bloody love it!!

FreeMantle · 04/06/2018 19:37

I like it 80's style rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried.

I will also eat it every other way though but only after I have eaten ALL the Silton.

Storminateapot · 04/06/2018 19:39

I wish I'd known you could eat it cooked when I was pregnant, it was the first thing I wanted to eat after I was home with my babies!

possumgoddess · 04/06/2018 19:48

Unlike just about everyone else I think YA definitely NBU. Brie and every other disgusting runny cheese is the work of the Devil (as are the rancid mouldy blue cheeses) and the best and ONLY thing to do with it is to bury it as deeply and as far away from your home as possible. However I am a supertaster (not necessarily a good thing) and Brie tastes really bitter to me. I know other people like it (but I think they are insane!)

Theweasleytwins · 04/06/2018 19:49

My favourite is Somerset Brie, find it quite tangy😍😭

LakieLady · 04/06/2018 19:59

I wish I hadn't read this. A brie and bacon baguette is one of my favourite things, and I really fancy one now.

We have no brie, no bacon and no baguettes. I have already had dinner. WIBU to nip out and buy the necessary to make one?

FutureDays · 04/06/2018 21:11

@lakielady you would be unreasonable not to...

kelper · 04/06/2018 21:19

God I love Brie, I really want some now, but I think DH would declare me insane if I rang him and asked if he could bring me brie and a baguette on his way home!! Lunch tomorrow might be sorted though.....

londonrach · 04/06/2018 21:20

Yabvvvvu and vvvv strange. How can you not love it!
