To use the same towel all week

Is that disgusting?

We use the same towels all week and wash them once a week on a Sunday. I thought this was fine until someone told me they change their towels every day.

Nope it's, perfectly normal. Mine get washed once a week unless they get soaked by accident or I forget to hang them up one evening and they get a bit musty.

Once a week here too. Made a big difference when we got a heated towel rail that can run for an hour or two even when the heating is switched off, otherwise they would get musty much quicker.

We all have our own towels here for showers/baths. I use my hair towel to dry myself then put in a towelling dressing gown which gets washed every couple of weeks unless any mingers have used it to dry their hands. The children's get washed after 3 baths or showers. My hair ones after 2 uses. They all get hung up to dry. Hand towels get washed more often. Try using white hand towels and you'll see how dirty they actually get despite your hands being technically clean.

My dad used to dry his ears and get ear wax on the towels Sad

Towels contain a lot of dead skin cells that slough off when you dry yourself so need washing frequently.

I use a clean one on my hair every day. The next day it is relegated to my body, then it goes in the wash.

Life is way to short to wash towels daily!
Weekly (sometimes longer) here and no one's died yet

Are people washing them daily? I change mine daily but they're washed weekly

LakieLady · 03/06/2018 10:50

I don't actually dry myself with my towel, I just walk round wearing it until I've dried off. I go for a couple of weeks without washing mine and they dry on a heated towel rail. Even my face towel I only pat my face dry with, so the "dead skin cells" thing isn't an issue.

DP's get washed weekly, because they look minging after a week.

I hate sharing a towel though, the thought that I might dry my face with a towel someone has used on their arse makes me feel a bit icky, tbh.

@PlumsGalore A dual fuel heated towel rail solves this problem. At this time of the year when the heating isn't on I just turn on the towel rail (electric option when heating not on) for about 30 mins in the morning which seems enough to dry out our towels.
