Booked a swim up room, there are four ground floor apartments in a row, all of us have booked swim up rooms and paid a supplement. Upstairs neighbours currently in our pool, shouting down from balcony, throwing inflatables from balcony. They have climbed over the wall at the end of the pool to get in.

The one we stayed in in Greece was like a large bathtub inside the room which then lead through a beautiful tunnel out into a private pool. There were walls left and right that sort of sloped back against the hotel in a triangle and then the front was a huge drop down. That's the sort of set up I'm imagining here which, if it is, OP needs to sort from a security viewpoint.

SoupDragon · 02/06/2018 11:49

CFs climbed over a wall to access the pool though

Kintan · 02/06/2018 11:49

Why is your husband being so accommodating to these strangers? Is there some piece of info you are missing out?

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 02/06/2018 11:50

A swim up pool?! Who knew. I've heard of a swim up Bar, but it's that long since I've been on a holiday where 3 layers of clothing aren't needed, that a new-fangled swim up room has completely passed me by. Currently with the DCs on the Yorkshire Coast, deep in sea mist most of the holiday, and wetsuits, wooly hats, thick socks and wellies have even all been needed at times this week! The thought of wearing just a cossie - Brrr!

Thanks for the education. Enjoy your swim up pool OP, but first speak to the Manager or Reception about the CF, and make sure they let the adult know she doesn't have access to your pool. Do it today, whether they've gone or not, because if you don't they'll be back tomorrow. I think you're a bit of a CF too though OP, coming on here telling us you've actually driven off leaving them to it. I'm all for avoiding confrontation, for sharing, for politeness, even for listening to the opinion of your DH. But honestly?!

BlankTimes · 02/06/2018 11:51

Is the OP's pool not more like this?

She said They have climbed over the wall at the end of the pool to get in.

Cblue · 02/06/2018 11:57

BlankTimes - the example you posted says ‘Private Pool’. OP said swim up room.

If it’s been sold as a private pool then management will tell them to leave but if it’s sold as a swim up room they don’t have to I am afraid.

Lacucuracha · 02/06/2018 11:59

Blanktimes, could be, but those are not swim up rooms either, they are just small pools for individual room use.

Either way, I agree Cblue, OP should complain.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/06/2018 12:00

"Bugger off and good day to you" is the appropriate Mumsnet response here

Damn right it is!

(I had never heard of a swim up room - but now it is my life's ambition to stay in one)

Jenasaurus · 02/06/2018 12:00

If they had to climb out of their room and scale a wall, how will they get back to the room (I am assuming the pool is enclosed and just leads to the ground floor rooms) In my head I am seeing a woman with a child clinging to her back climbing a wall but it may not be that set up at all.

What is the name of the hotel? Is the pool private or accessible to all but yourselves and other people with swim up rooms a little easier to get to?

BlankTimes · 02/06/2018 12:01

Oops, sorry, I was just looking for pics that had a barrier because the OP
had said the CFs had to climb over a wall to access it.
Non-swimmer so don't know the difference Blush

BlueEyedBengal · 02/06/2018 12:03

Complain now otherwise they will be in your pool everyday and never leave you alone. If they wanted a pool they should have paid extra for it. Do be so soft c f needs shifting before nowAngry

Jenasaurus · 02/06/2018 12:05

so more like that, in which case they could be swimming there anyway. not sure what you can do to be honest

Barbaro · 02/06/2018 12:05

What if they, while you're gone, walk into your room and steal your stuff? Going to allow that too and your husband just sulk about it? You are pushovers.

Jenasaurus · 02/06/2018 12:07

But anyone could access any apartments on that basis Barbaro as they are accessible by the other ground floor rooms

Barbaro · 02/06/2018 12:13

Yeah they could. But op is already allowing theft technically as the upstairs people are using something they haven't paid for. I wouldnt trust people like that near my stuff. They don't care already clearly. But op has just left to go for food and left complete strangers in her pool with easy access to her stuff. Chances of theft there are high.

JohnnyKarate · 02/06/2018 12:17

It could be like this. So it is a swim up room but you have your own private bit outside your terrace with a little wall to hop over of you want to go in the main pool.

Cblue · 02/06/2018 12:17

Swim up rooms are great if you have small kids. You can be close to the room for nappy changing there’s no fight for a sun bed you can pop in and out of your room anytime and don’t have to worry about your things being unattended but they are def not PRIVATE pools. They often have partitions between rooms and a small (2ft?) wall. If you are the end room you would need to step over the little wall but that’s as much to stop people falling into the pool as to keep people out.
I didn’t read the OPs post as being ‘scaled’ a wall though.
....it’s a luxury but the luxury is the proximity to the pool and the room but it doesn’t guarantee privacy nor exclusivity

Wouldn’t be both paying for it now DD is older but then I knew exactly what I was getting whereas I am worried the OP may not.

Guess we need the OP to confirm the private vs swim up description on the hotel/travel agents web site before they go in with alll guns blazing!

PolkerrisBeach · 02/06/2018 12:17

The place we stayed was like this - so the bottom floor has access to the pools, the upstairs doesn't.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/06/2018 12:19

Yes what’s a pool hammock?

Thank heavens! I thought it was just me.

Cuttingthegrass · 02/06/2018 12:20

I want to stay in one of these now too

StaplesCorner · 02/06/2018 12:21

Why on earth would you post a thread like this?! What if they want to use your bed next OP or have a little go on your credit card?! will you post first saying its a bit awkward and DH says let them do it? Hmm

MiddleClassProblem · 02/06/2018 12:23

Is DH put out by it too but not willing to complain?

FilledSoda · 02/06/2018 12:24

In not really understanding your he's thinking on this .
I'd be on to reception immediately

FilledSoda · 02/06/2018 12:26

Tistheseason17 · 02/06/2018 12:28
