To wonder why would anyone buy pampers ?

The price difference between pampers and supermarket brands is astonishing why would anyone buy that ? They are all equally capable of catching pee and poo in my experience !

In case they're rubbish? I gave away a loads of pampers pull-ups because the wee and pop does NOT stay in them!

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 31/05/2018 18:32

I wonder the same, they are so expensive and not superior quality to other nappies. Aldi nappies are the best.

RiddleyW · 31/05/2018 18:32

I’ve never really thought about it. I bought a pack before DS was born and they worked well so keep buying them. He’s still in them (we’ll pull ups) at night 3.5 years later.

It is the only brand which doesn’t seem to aggravate my child’s eczema.

Is that an acceptable reason for you, OP?

HeyDolly · 31/05/2018 18:34

I find pampers the best from the brands I’ve tried. No leaks at all whereas Lidl for example leak all the time on my DD.

Letmesuckyourblood · 31/05/2018 18:34

My DD can only have pampers! Everything else I've tried either don't hold the wee in or make her bum sore!!

SoyDora · 31/05/2018 18:36

I tried 4 other brands and they either leaked or gave the DD’s nappy rash. So we went back to pampers 🤷🏻‍♀️

firsttimemum889 · 31/05/2018 18:36

I bought pampers before having ds as well then i looked at the price difference and gave the others a try ! Lidl ones are not soft and quite bad quality , i didnt like them but morrison and asda ones are fine ! Havent tried aldi ones that everyone is raving about as there is no aldi close to me ! i just cant undestand why would anyone keep buying pampers unless they dont really notice or care about the price i guess :p

I bought Pampers for my 1st newborn, you just end up being brainwashed by the advertising into believing they're the best. It's a few years ago now but they definitely were far better than Tesco/Asda own brand at the time. I soon discovered Lidl though, which became the nappy of choice.

Babysharkdododo · 31/05/2018 18:37

They don't aggravate DS's eczema and we get them in Costco when they are on a deal and only about a penny per nappy more expensive then Aldi.

NataliaOsipova · 31/05/2018 18:37

I always bought them - found them much better at stopping leaks than supermarket own brands. Tried various brands over the years, but reckoned Pampers were the best.

You can ask the same about any own brand vs branded products though!

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 31/05/2018 18:39

I've tried every nappy/pull up possible. Pampers are the only ones that don't give my DD nappy rash.

My older 2 lived in supermarket own brand.

MyKingdomForBrie · 31/05/2018 18:39

I’ve found them the softest and most reliable. I think the different shapes and fits probably suit different shapes of baby! Also I found the wee indicators useful when she was tiny. I’m lucky to not need to worry too much about the cost.

SoyDora · 31/05/2018 18:40

We bought them in Costco too. Loads cheaper.

Dobbythesockelf · 31/05/2018 18:41

When in normal nappies I bought Tesco own but then when my dd got mobile and kept undoing the tabs I wanted to move to pull up/pants types. We found that pampers were the only ones that fit her and didn't leak in that style.

student26 · 31/05/2018 18:41

I love the Aldi and Tesco brand of nappies. Both great and both worked well.

79Fleur · 31/05/2018 18:41

We also buy ours in the giga packs from Costco also have an eczema prone baby here too and no issues with pampers ...the Lidl nappies give my child horrendous nappy rash ..I like the aldi ones though and Tesco’s own and I buy them too if I run out of pampers between Costco runs. Each to their own.. buy what works for you and what you can afford.

Bearfrills · 31/05/2018 18:41

I've used different nappies for different DC and stages. DC1 wore Huggies and they were great, Pampers always leaked on him as he had narrow hips and a big bum so the elastic waistband on the back of Huggies nappies was ideal. DC2 wore Pampers as every other nappy I tried gave her raging nappy rash. DC3 wore Pampers as a newborn and then Tesco as locally we couldn't get Pampers in size 3 or size 4 so I started getting Tesco ones delivered on the food shop. DC4 was wearing Pampers until I tried Sainsbury's own brand, they're like Huggies used to be with the thick elastic band on the back and she's a similar shape to DC1 so they're a great fit.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 31/05/2018 18:42

I use Aldi nappies for my baby and find them the best. I'm using Pampers just now as I ran out of Aldi ones so had to buy from the local shop. I don't rate them at all she's always soaked through. I also prefer Asda nappies to Pampers but Aldi are my favourite. With my first child Huggies were around and I always preferred them but seemed to be in the minority. Asda ones caused a bad reaction on her so it definitely varies baby to baby on which brand is most suitable.

Racecardriver · 31/05/2018 18:42

The pampers ones are way more absorbent though. We used far less when have pampers.

Nanny0gg · 31/05/2018 18:42

Bought on offer they're not so bad. And find them the best quality.

WTFsMyUserName · 31/05/2018 18:45

I used to buy pampers baby dry. But DS, 21 months , kept leaking through at night so I gave Sainsbury's and boots a go. Boots night time nappy felt a bit thick. Sainsbury's turned out to be perfect. They are cut a little wider in the gusset area and manage to contain everything. They are slightly bulkier in feel compared to pampers baby dry but not a big deal given the fact we have fewer leaks.

Pinga · 31/05/2018 18:45

I only ever used washables or Tesco economy with my two. Never could understand why people pay ££ for the expensive brands. Had a couple free once and really hated all the extras - the stretchy gusset, the velcro tabs, the print on the cover etc. Waste of money and bad for the environment imho.

Dontbuymesocks · 31/05/2018 18:53

**‘just cant undestand why would anyone keep buying pampers unless they dont really notice or care about the price i guess’

But we’ve given you the reasons!!
