To wonder why would anyone buy pampers ?

The price difference between pampers and supermarket brands is astonishing why would anyone buy that ? They are all equally capable of catching pee and poo in my experience !

If you get them on you can get pretty close to the cost of supermarket ones. I do agree though that quality is very similar across brands, it’s more fit that makes a difference.

We used to use pampers at night because we did find them to be more absorbent but other than that they aren’t worth the extra.

Wellthen · 31/05/2018 18:55

If you get them on offer that should say.

Dreamingofkfc · 31/05/2018 18:56

On offer they are really reasonable. They are the only ones that don't leak overnight for my two. I do sometimes try a supermarket brand but they are never as good, and you use way more

redexpat · 31/05/2018 18:56

I used them for size 1 and 2. We had some free samples of pampers and lidl. The lidl ones leaked every time.

redexpat · 31/05/2018 18:57

Also in the newborn sizes they have a line that turns blue when theyve done a wee which I found v useful.

Mammalamb · 31/05/2018 18:58

My brother and his wife bought us a massive selection of nappies in advance of us becoming parents. We tried all of them. The worst were sainsburys eco range. The 2nd worst were pampers (yes, I got peed on in the local shopping centre on my first visit out). The best were Aldis mamia (which were also the cheapest)

Amanduh · 31/05/2018 19:00

I had pampers for (pfb) ds and they were generally good but did leak. I’ve never had a leak with lidl. Aldi are good but people rave about Asda and I HATE them. Sainsburys are the best. I think its just whatever suits your babies shape!

GrandTheftWalrus · 31/05/2018 19:00

Pampers seem to be the best for DD.

My mum uses cheap nappies on her and she's always red when she comes back.

MadelineJapan · 31/05/2018 19:01

I think most consider using them because they're familiar. They're given out in bounty packs and by Boots and all sorts. I think you tend to just stick with what you know.

MerryDeath · 31/05/2018 19:02

it is precisely none of your business that i buy pampers (premium protection nappy pants too 😯) because it's my money, my child's bottom. have you nothing else to do?

PistFump · 31/05/2018 19:02

We are experimenting with lots of different brands at the moment and have found pampers to be most reliable, whereas Huggies for us have been a right disaster. Asda and tesco's own haven't been too bad.

firsttimemum889 · 31/05/2018 19:03

Interesting about the eczema . My ds had eczema before his milk allergy was diagnosed but never in the nappy area so i didnt connect it with the nappies . I did use pampers in the first month of his life until i realized that there is no difference in quality at least for my ds .
For the poster that said about other products of supermarket range the thing is that i find a difference in those products so i buy the more expensive ones but i dont find that in pampers so thats why am asking

LartenCrepsley · 31/05/2018 19:04

I didn’t like Pampers. Aldi or Tesco own brand were my preference. Although PFB DD1 had —stupidly expensive— cloth nappies. Huggies were proper shite (pun intended!).

PistFump · 31/05/2018 19:04

It's funny how it's different for different babies isn't it when their anatomy is fairly similar.

StillNoClue · 31/05/2018 19:05

Because supermarket ones make my son red raw. Is that acceptable enough? Also I buy them in bulk and it's roughly the same as tesco nappies cost

firsttimemum889 · 31/05/2018 19:05

@MerryDeath Hmmcalm down

We started with Pampers as that was the brand stocked at the closest shop to our house after I’d finished the packs of newborn Naty nappies I’d bought before she was born, which were good but I had to order online which was a faff. We’ve occasionally tried other brands (Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s and Co-op) and none have been nearly as absorbent, and some seemed to aggravate dds eczema. Pampers seem to be on offer all the time in the shops we go into, so doesn’t cost us more than cheaper brands I would imagine. Fair enough if you think it’s a waste of money, but clearly those of us buying them don’t agree, it’s not something to get annoyed about.

mathanxiety · 31/05/2018 19:07

YA a bit U to assume everyone's baby will have the same experience as your with certain brands. Everyone knows some brands are more expensive than others, but cost isn't always the only factor that goes into decision making, and not everyone is a sucker for branding.

CuppaSarah · 31/05/2018 19:07

A friend who was having difficult financial times, I suggested supermarket brand nappies as they were cheaper and really good. She replied with utter fear and horror in her voice:

"But how do you know if they're wet without the wetness indicator strip"

I did try and explain, but she couldn't get her head around it. Eventually she discovered supermarket own nappies on her own and was very happy with them. She can even tell when they're wet! Wink I love her, but she doesn't have the most common sense in the world.

MazDazzle · 31/05/2018 19:09

I used to use them until I tried Lidl’s ones - miles better and a fraction of the cost.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 31/05/2018 19:09

Before we had Costco membership we used Morrison's own brand during the day and Pampers at night (superior liquid-holding ability). Now we just buy massive packs of Pampers at Costco for less than the supermarket own-brand cost.

Ansumpasty · 31/05/2018 19:09

Those pull up type pampers are brilliant. Neither of my two ever had leakages and they fit round the legs and tummy perfectly.

Tried a few different brands and they were rubbish. Aldi’s badly burned my girl’s bottom

SakuraBlossom · 31/05/2018 19:10

I didn't. I used Mammy Poko, a Japanese brand. Not sure if you can buy them here.

Pampers leak.

SilkyBlack · 31/05/2018 19:10

Aldi nappy stink. They have a really strong chemical smell which made me feel ill

Tantruminateacup · 31/05/2018 19:10

I'm on baby #3. I find the supermarket brands a bit if a false economy. They may be cheaper but from my experience they are bulky & they leak. I always go back to pampers. Dry & no sore bums. So I'll carry on using them & you use what works for you.
