To wonder why would anyone buy pampers ?

The price difference between pampers and supermarket brands is astonishing why would anyone buy that ? They are all equally capable of catching pee and poo in my experience !

Pampers were the only ones that lasted all night for us.

scaryteacher · 31/05/2018 19:11

Almost 23 years ago they were the best on the market by a long shot; and they worked brilliantly for ds.

Notveryladylike · 31/05/2018 19:11

Both my mother and I are childminders and the only brands of nappies we used to see coming in with the kids was pamperes, sometimes huggies. Now it's mainly Aldi or other supermarket own brands. Think the supermarkets have upped their game in recent years.

donaldtwerp · 31/05/2018 19:12

I bought them just because to me they felt so much softer than others

SidTheSquirrel · 31/05/2018 19:13

Aldi gave my DD a rash. Boots are okay ish but not as absorbant, Sainsbury’s we’re crunchy and hard.
Pampers worked best for her.
I haven’t bothered trying anything else with DS. He has similar minor skin issues like she does so why bother putting him through anything?

firsttimemum889 · 31/05/2018 19:13

@silkpyjamasallday amnot at all annoyed about it just wondering

I still wouldnt say any of them are better than pampers though. Papers just feel and look as though they are more comfortable.

Oysterbabe · 31/05/2018 19:13

I used to always buy pampers, assuming they were more expensive so probably better. Wrong! Tesco and co-op own brand are so much better and don't leak after a full night whereas I've found pampers can't handle the volume of wee.

Metoodear · 31/05/2018 19:14

I know it’s like many products really eat well for less really opened my eyes to how people are brand driven the tea one was so funny

She kept saying I don’t like this tea it’s rates yuk turns out it was what she always drink just couldn’t see the label

BitOfAKerfuffle · 31/05/2018 19:14

Pampers is the only brand that work for us. We have tried all the other ones and they all give bad rashes !
The cheaper brand ones feel very thick and bulky as well compared to pampers activefit nappies. And they don't work out more expensive....I bulk buy them when they are on really good offers or I use Amazon prime with Amazon family to get discounts on them.

I have tiny babies and children and it seems from chatting to other mum's that actually the pampers are the better brand for tiny children and the people who are experiencing the leaks with the pampers have bigger normal sized babies and children so maybe this is why we have got on fine with them

Eeeeek2 · 31/05/2018 19:14

Because I have bought 4 packs of nappies in 18 months, 1 Sainsbury's, 1 Tesco both of which made my ds bum bright red and sore. So now when I wanted to buy a pack of nappies for holiday this month I tried pampers again (he had 1 pack as a newborn before we went over to reusable) no sore bum. So if I go away again before he is potty trained I'll buy another pack.

letstryagainaaahhhh · 31/05/2018 19:14

They are the only ones that don't give my daughter nappy rash. Worth every penny in our experience, especially the new born sensitive range.

Jupiter15 · 31/05/2018 19:14

I like ALDI nappies but pampers pull ups are by far the best I’ve tried.

Littlecaf · 31/05/2018 19:15

Have always used them. Tescos nappies gave DS nappy rash. Waitrose was too stiff. I liked the Aldi ones but our nearest is 15 miles away. We get them in Tescos 2 for 1 or whatever. YABU

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 31/05/2018 19:17

`I've tried a few different brands and found pampers the best. The others were quite hard and not very soft

yep, were thinnest and softest of all we tried.. not a problem for DS2 who trained himself fast, but for DS1 who was in nappies for ages, it made a difference.

Goingalonenow · 31/05/2018 19:17

Because DD has several skin conditions that are aggravated by everything except Pampers - which you can buy at Home Bargains for a reasonable price. Not that it's your business.

TroubledLichen · 31/05/2018 19:18

Never used anything other than Pampers.

When we lived in the UK we got Ocado deliveries and our high st only had a Waitrose. I had no desire to make a special trip to a supermarket I don’t shop at just for nappies and someone told me Waitrose gave their LO a rash so we went for Pampers. Now we live in the US and get a monster box bi-monthly on Amazon subscribe and save, again Pampers as they have the biggest boxes and we’ve never had any rashes or leaks.

Honestly, I’ve never thought about the cost of nappies so I’d probably fall into your don’t notice/don’t care category. But really it’s about convenience and a case of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

ALittleAubergine · 31/05/2018 19:18

Availability etc.

Aldi ones have been really good and much cheaper but out of the ones I can buy locally pampers are the best quality. They're often reduced prices as well. When they're not on sale I go for cheaper ones.

Branleuse · 31/05/2018 19:19

pampers stink weird - like marmite, and they didnt seem to suit the shape of my babies

EdWinchester · 31/05/2018 19:20

I only ever bought Pampers because I just assumed they were the best.

They seemed good quality so we stuck with them.

SaltySeaBird · 31/05/2018 19:21

They were the only brand my daughter seemed to be able to use as she had horrendous nappy rash. We tried every supermarket own brand.

DS has always used the Aldi ones as doesn’t seem to have such a sensitive bottom!

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 31/05/2018 19:22

The others were quite hard and not very soft

Well yeah, hard things tend not to be soft...Grin

Luckymummy22 · 31/05/2018 19:23

Because most other brands leaked........
I did eventually buy Aldi occasionally but I preferred Pampers.

Most of the time we got them at Costco and then for a bit on Amazon Prime. Now we’re buying in Tesco hoping it will be the last box I ever buy......he will be dry at night, he will be dry at night Hmm

BuntyII · 31/05/2018 19:25

Asda are soft but small around the waist and give my DS terrible nappy rash. Lidl are leaky and thin. Sainsbury's are as stiff as a board. Tesco are ok but much bulkier between the legs than Pampers. Pampers are just better and more reliable. I definitely wouldn't use anything but Pampers in a new baby in particular.

PatchworkElmer · 31/05/2018 19:25

DS is in Pampers at night- they last, which is what we need! I’ve also found that a lot of supermarket nappies give him nappy rash (Aldi are ok though).
