To want to cut my hair very short like Gemma Arterton? (with pics)

I know she is impossibly beautiful and perhaps that haircut would look nothing like that on me. But it looks so bloody amazing and sophisticated on her that I feel really tempted Grin

AIBU to cut my hair so short? Would it look awful on someone not quite as stunning as Gemma?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties Does it make you look like a spring onion?

Mammysin · 31/05/2018 13:22

Have booked hair appt next week to get this very do! Have always had my hair short but recently grew a mullet style that was lovely ( trust me!). My hair is the longest it's been in nearly 25 years and I hate it.. will put up pic when I have it done ✅

RoseWhiteTips · 31/05/2018 13:28

She looked better with her longer / long hair. Even on her, the look is limiting.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 31/05/2018 13:28

Yes a wilted spring onion. I knew it reminded me of something Grin
Less Arterton more Artichoke.

RoseWhiteTips · 31/05/2018 13:35

OP, your style is good right now. Don’t change it.
Agyness Deyn is the only person I can think of who looks amazing in short hair. It is probably more about her overall style, though.

dontticklethetoad · 31/05/2018 15:58

Oh yes! It'll defo suit you op. Post pics when you've had it done!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 31/05/2018 16:21

I loved having short hair but it takes more time....there is nowhere to hide with short hair if you're having a bad hair day so although logically less hair equates to less faff.....it's the exact opposite.

SteppingOnLegos · 31/05/2018 16:23

I did this last year and am now painfully growing it out.

I loved it when I had it done... the only thing I would say is, prepare yourself for the hideous growing out stages.

I'm living that stage right now. 😕

Your short hair was gorgeous, Lego! (as was your long hair.) I agree about growing out - that's part of the reason why I've had short hair for the last 15 years - mostly, it suits me better, but also whenever I've decided to grow it I've given up after four or five months and got it all cut off again. The growing out phase is HIDEOUS. But the OP is going for a cut that wouldn't take too long to grow out to at least a bob. It's not that short really.

I don't get all the people saying how much faff short hair is. I don't even blow dry mine. It dries on its own in about 10 minutes. I stick a bit of styling putty in whenever I remember (wet or dry), tousle it up and it's good to go.

Ethylred · 31/05/2018 17:37

Do it OP.
The worst that can happen is that DH (mine not yours)
will flirt with you altogether too much and then I will have to LTB.

CopONNotLinkedIn · 31/05/2018 19:18

Toss daily ha ha! That is funny.

affectionincoldclimate · 31/05/2018 20:09

OP you're gorgeous. And this cut will look fab on you. If you do want Gemma's hair go and see Andreas Wild at John Frieda. He actually does Gemma's hair so at least you get the exact copy.

Helipad · 02/06/2018 13:09

This thread has inspired me and I've just booked an appointment with Andreas (as mentioned above by affection). Woohoo, so excited! I'm 45 and have a dull bob, I've had short hair before and it does suit me - I think! I've been wanting to have it cut again but have been nervous to go for it for the reasons already mentioned, there's a fine line looking like a news reader (Natasha Kaplinsky's bouffant springs to mind!) or mysteriously edgy and confident which I want to achieve Grin.

I think this new (?) cut makes Gemma Anterton look amazing. Whilst she's very beautiful, long hair just makes her look run of the mill pretty girl but with this short cut, she stands out from the crowd of other starlets and it really makes her look AMAZING.

Michelle Williams and Frankie from the Saturdays are the same, both look a lot better with short hair, long hair makes them disappear into the crowd.

bananamonkey · 02/06/2018 13:43

Based on your picture I’d say do it!

Can I be cheeky and ask how you get your current hair wavy like that? It’s turned into a lifetime ambition as I’ve tried many methods and just can’t get it right

LottaLou · 03/06/2018 12:58

Here we go!!!! Sorry for the silly filters, but loving it Grin

You look fab OP!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 03/06/2018 14:37

I love it Smile

TheBlackMadonna · 03/06/2018 14:53

I reckon it’ll really suit you but you need to have the time and inclination to deal with sorting out each morning if you wake up with it looking a bit mad. I’m growing out a pixie and now it’s reached just past chin length I don’t have to deal with a sticky uppy mop every morning.

Freaklikemeee · 03/06/2018 15:30

If you wear a lot of makeup like she is then it looks good.
Otherwise you can look a bit "manly", but that might not bother you.
My (no makeup) sister got called "sir" quite often when she had a haircut like this.

Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 15:55

Looks amazing Op!!
I also really love that hairstyle @Enko

Cocolepew · 03/06/2018 20:06

looks great Lou!
