And for prominent influencers who I will not name here for fear of them kicking off and getting the thread pulled to even hint that this might be the case is irresponsible on their part?

SO much gets discussed on MN every day. So much gets criticised. Social media influencers are a new and intriguing phenomenon - why wouldn't they be discussed here? For better or worse?

Many people have supported influencers for the way they earn money. That gets ignored. Many have politely criticised and pointed out ways it could be more ethical. This gets ignored. One or two have made comments that are personal or cross the line, these have been pounced on and discussed publicly.

The 'arguments' die down. People stop caring. Then prominent influencers go and start the whole thing up again.

Blaming MN is just lazy and irresponsible.

They are only selling to anyone looking. Seriously, what about this do not get? Stop looking; not your business and / problem.

As long as an account is public it can and will be commented on. If people want to raise their children in private, do just that. Change your account to a private one. If you use your account to sell things, you are a business.

I only ever check the status and accounts of businesses in which I have a direct interest. Like if I am thinking of buying from the business...otherwise, why do I care? I am not following these insta accounts you complain of, it has no impact on my life. Why do you care?

(Lots,not all before anyone starts) - They pretend not to like what they stand for, but can't stop looking and following and commenting on all of the shiny things and how it's not fair, waah, it so needs to be put as an ad so polish the virtual badge and send a klaxon off to the standards agency.
If you say why follow something you said you don't like, you'll get the answer "but I do like them really, I never said I didn't."

Some people have said they are followers of them on here and it's perfectly acceptable to be a follower and not agree with everything they say or do. Are you friends with the meldrums m5? Her mum/sister?! I'm sure I've read that she had someone come on here to defend her in the past... and you are being very defensive of them when I don't think anything particularly mean has been said about them personally.

Public domain does mean public scrutiny, in this country at least. These are not private accounts. I think on the most part they probably understand that themselves, rough with the (#sponsored) smooth I guess.

Well I am following some of these accounts because I like a lot of their content. But I’m allowed to feel frustrated by some aspects that I deem to be unethical or which make me feel ‘used’ as a follower .

In fact discussions on MN specifically about this topic have led to many positive changes in how transparent influencers are now becoming.

Not sure why you are getting so agitated at the comments on here @m5 ?? Whilst I agree that it is unreasonanle to attack people personally (and I have seen it happen on here occasionally), I honestly don’t see why you take such issue with these topics being discussed on a general level? Seems odd how worked up you’re getting..

I did make pro insta comments previously. I thought clemmie Telford's post about Hay and CB's political comments were admirable. I was responding to the original OP's statement. I do not dislike IG. I was concerned the MOD discussion went too far. I am interested in the conversation. You m5slowdown are two faced and frankly, wierd.

Whether or not I have committed relationship to the Gram does that (a) exclude me from MN? and or (b) warrant being reported to MNHQ? Surely this is a forum open to everyone....or is it? Let me know the response you receive from MNHQ...unlikely it will be notified to me in the form of a deleted account; I have not breached MNHQ rules. Good luck with that!
