To think playgroups shouldn't give out junk food?

I go to one may be once a fortnight. The standard snack is fruit plus juice (don't agree with the juice) but there is always other shit 'just this once'. Chocolate, cake, iced biscuits today...

This is publicly funded.

It's a nice group but the shit food is putting me off.

Am I being precious?

I don’t think it’s fair to compare posters saying one biscuit a fortnight won’t hurt to those who were passing burgers through the school fence. Unless there is going to be a total ban on cakes, biscuits and crisps etc in the near future then children need to learn about balance. There’s a difference between having cake at birthday party and having cake after every meal (tho we did as children, still got all my own teeth, rarely eat cake now). When mine was young I was at a party where a Dentist’s child ate all the biscuits while others were on sandwiches as there was a total sugar ban at home. At another where a child from a vegetarian home ate the whole plate of mini sausages before anyone realised. Once they have their own lunch money and pocket money, you lose control of what they eat, so my view is a little in moderation on top of an otherwise healthy diet won’t hurt. But I do agree that everyone needs to be better aware of good nutrition and the dangers of bad
