To want to do a drastic diet?

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 07:23

I have gained huge amounts of weight over the last two years and am now nearly 15stone.

At my height, that’s pretty large and I’m very depressed.

Wondering about doing a liquid/shake diet. Any views?

Sorry OP but those are excuses.

I get it. I made them for 20 years. I lost my 20's to being 7 stone overweight. So I'm not being a dick. I'm being honest and I know what I'm talking about: you need to change that mindset or it'll all be pointless.

lljkk · 27/05/2018 08:58

Tofu is low carb. I like tofu, mind. I do an 800 kcal day once in a while, tofu is the best.

21jumpstreet · 27/05/2018 08:58

Sounds like you’ve made up your mind so it reallybaure why you posted. Go buy some slim fast and crack on. People are trying to help and you have a defensive answer for every suggestion.

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 08:58

Yeah I’m not making excuses, I want to lose weight, but apparently only a Mumsnet approved way will mean I get advice Hmm

If you have nowhere to cook, just follow a strict 1000-calories a day plan. Buy ready meals you can microwave. Add loads of salad. Just keep track on your phone how many calories you've had.

Also, if you didn't want comments, opinions and advice, why create a thread?!

Shadow666 · 27/05/2018 08:58

There is a huge amount of scientific evidence out there that walking for 30 minutes a day helps with weight loss, and reduces the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and hypertension.

I agree with the others about your attitude. You don’t know what will work for you until you actually try it 🤷‍♀️

PurpleDaisies · 27/05/2018 08:58

It’s right for her, not me. Is that so difficult to understand?

There was absolutely no need to
comment on her weight. That was a cheap and nasty shot and you know it.

LavenderDoll · 27/05/2018 08:59

Yeh OP I'm still 14 stone but I was 17 stone and I'm losing weight every week. So your snidey comment about being 14 stone still means fuck all as I'll be slim within a year and you will still be making excuses
Crack on you don't want help you want a magic way to get rid of the weight and there isn't one

MrsMotherHen · 27/05/2018 08:59

You are making excuses though what type of cooking facilities do you have?

Shadow666 · 27/05/2018 08:59

People have suggested about a dozen different safe, healthy ways to lose weight and you’ve been dismissive of all of them.

Do as you like. None of us care.

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 09:01

It really wasn’t fucking meant as a snidey comment! Christ. The point is that I would NOT have the patience to have waited for nearly six months and still be fat, kudos to you, lavender, but not me, seriously.

Yes, I have, shadow, because I didn’t ask about them.

When you lose the weight on a vlcd how will you maintain the weight loss after? What's the plan?

WittyJack · 27/05/2018 09:01

Now you sound like a petulant teenager. MN approved - come ON!! First we are all saying different methods, and secondly we are saying what any doctor in the world would say. Starving yourself for a few weeks will make you a couple of stone thinner - and then it'll pile right back on with interest as you eat everything you've denied yourself and you have no coping mechanism in the form of exercise and a healthy eating plan 🤷‍♀️

If you want a thread full of VLCD converts, then search online for forums connected to those specific products. SlimFast has a very active FB community, and loads of them have lost tonnes. Plus I didn't see any headscarves in the "after" pictures, so fingers crossed!

Magpiemagpie · 27/05/2018 09:03

But if you lost 3 stone like lavender has you would be 3 Stone down
Probably look and feel loads better and be only 2 stone to the target

Make all the excuses you like no one really gives a shit - your body your weight
People are giving you ideas and your shouting them down
For what it’s worth the only way I lost weight was through a gastric sleeve
And I had less weight than you to lose but I was sick of putting the same 4 stone back on and back off

Beaverhausen · 27/05/2018 09:03

I did the paleo diet and lost a stone in 3 weeks. I used all the recipes from pinterest. It is quite enjoyable and makes it easy to diet too as long as you enjoy fruit and veg you will be fine.

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 09:04

I don’t really count slim fast as a VLCD, it has an add a meal replacement.

itsbetter by eating normally. Not that it is really anything to do with this. How will lavender cope when she’s no longer doing SW? You eat a normal amount and maintain.

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 09:04

For people who don’t give a shit you’re getting quite wound up Hmm

Try the drastic diet & be brave enough to come back & tell us how it went? I'll be genuinely delighted for you if it works well, especially down the line in 1-2 yrs. They must work well for some folk. Richard Simmons himself got thin by starving self for 2-3 months, come to think of it.

lljkk · 27/05/2018 09:04

... which put him in hospital, mind.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 27/05/2018 09:05

I'll be slim within a year and you will still be making excuses

😁👊🏻😁 team @LavenderDoll!

littlepeas · 27/05/2018 09:05

Have a look at intuitive eating OP. Instagram - LauraThomasPHD or the book by Evelyn Tribole. It’s an amazing approach.

MrsJamin · 27/05/2018 09:05

I just know what works and what doesn’t.
However, you don't, do you? Otherwise you wouldn't be in this position and you wouldn't be asking for advice? How can you expect different results when you won't try something new? You are getting good advice on here but you aren't listening. You need to change your mindset otherwise your mind will talk you out of sticking to any kind of plan.

Sunshinemakesmehappie · 27/05/2018 09:06

No, I’m not listening Smile Have a good day.
