There is a strange car parked in front of my house

Literally facing into my lounge, my private parking area not on street. I’ve no idea who it belongs too, must’ve arrived whilst I was putting the baby to bed so in the last 15 minutes. Doesn’t belong to any of my neighbours that I’m aware of (been here a long time, know most of them well). I think it’s cheeky to leave your car on a random parking spot or Aibu?

You're a suspected drug dealer and it's a shit stakeout

Rachie1986 · 26/05/2018 20:22

..don't mind me... Just placemarking..

Fluffyears · 26/05/2018 20:24

Sit on the bonnet and wait for them to come back.

Ninchninch · 26/05/2018 20:25

Is there a wall between your cars and the random car? Could they think it's just an extra parking space for visitors of the road? Another diagram?

BarefootMe · 26/05/2018 20:25

If your house is close to your neighbours' houses, the most likely explanation is that someone has mistaken your drive for someone else he/she is visiting - especially likely if the house numbers are consecutive rather than alternate. So the driver is probably quite nearby.
This has happened occasionally where I live (terraced house).

ICantCopeAnymore · 26/05/2018 20:26

Block, block, block!

QOD · 26/05/2018 20:27

🚘

ladybee28 · 26/05/2018 20:28

I have literally never heard the term 'hardcore parking' before and it's sent me into fits... Grin What does it mean?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/05/2018 20:28

C'mon! You must know the rules! Block them in.

MismatchedPJs · 26/05/2018 20:28

You didn't seriously expect people to say "of course YABU, you should expect random strangers to park on your drive" did you?

I do get the appeal of blocking them in, but if they come banging on your door and wake the baby up at night, or wake you up at 6am, you'll have cut off your nose to spite your face a bit. If they continue to park there, you can escalate to blocking them in at any time.

Nquartz · 26/05/2018 20:30

Block the cheeky fuckers in

bellanotte22 · 26/05/2018 20:33

Hardcore parking??! HmmBlush

onalongsabbatical · 26/05/2018 20:33

But do you have a pool?

StealthNinjaMum · 26/05/2018 20:35

Two parking threads in one day!

Storminateapot · 26/05/2018 20:36

Hardcore is the name of the loose aggregate stuff they lay down to make ground firm.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 26/05/2018 20:37

So is it a brick or concrete area of your garden, not actually a parking space? And they've mounted the pavement to park there? (As your and your dh cars are blocking the dotted kerb)

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 26/05/2018 20:37

Where’s the other parking thread?!

OP block ‘em in, that’s the rules Grin

chocolateworshipper · 26/05/2018 20:39

Is there a rugby team anywhere near?

Ownerofalittlechimp · 26/05/2018 20:39

🤣🤣 jayho

Sorry, hardcore parking means an area that was formerly garden which was dug out & covered with hardcore hence no dropped curb. We’re just waiting for a delivery of Yellowstone to cover it. Pink slashes are the paved drive & path. No wall between paved drive & hardcore. Link detached so not like terrace close & neighbour has very different, very nice printed concrete drive so clearly not shared or confusing.

DH our to watch some massively unimportant football match at the minute & for some reason he’s taken both sets of keys so not able to block in sadly.

I’m keeping an eagle eye on it though for returning driver, sat on sofa I’m only about 10ft from it

We had a random car parked on our drive last year. The drive is only big enough for a single car. When DH popped out to the post office one day, within 5 minutes of him driving out a random car had been parked and left, with no sign of the owner. I called the police for advice but was told it's not a police matter as it's on private property. I was told to knock on neighbours doors and check despite the fact that every house on the road is converted into multiple flats ConfusedThe police really didn't want to know. I explained that if the car is not removed then my own car will be towed away if I parked it on the street as I don't have a residents parking permit and I'll be incurring around £600 or more to have it released. DH arrived half an hour later and lost it when he saw the car on the drive. Having waited for over 2 hours for the owner and needing to get our own vehicle off residents parking bays DH took the extreme measure and smashed the drivers side window to release the handbreak Shock and flung the car out onto the roadBlush

Tiredtomybones · 26/05/2018 20:44

I once had my drive blocked, with my car on there, by the friend of my neighbour who had parked there to catch a flight for his holiday (we were a few miles from a major airport). He hadn't left his keys and there was no way my car would fit round it. My neighbours were lovely, and as I was only a couple of weeks post c-section so not driving anyway, it didn't matter, but I was properly annoyed at the cheek and stupidity of the driver. He had a telling off from my neighbour on his return and bought me a bunch of flowers to apologise. Whenever he visited after that, he parked opposite and up a bit! Happy days.

Oysterbabe · 26/05/2018 20:44

Hardcore parking is just for dogging areas.

Eggzandbacon · 26/05/2018 20:45

Biscuit for my tea whilst I sit and watch

Spotsandstars · 26/05/2018 20:46

Ooooooo I only clicked on this thread by accident and now I'm engrossed! Who does this mystery car belong too?!

ICantCopeAnymore · 26/05/2018 20:47

Omg, @WTFsMyUserName Grin

Were there repurcussions?
