Fat and fabulous

highchairhell · 24/05/2018 18:17

So I am fat. I like food too much to lose weight and after spending years of my life worrying about my waistline, I've had enough.

I want to look good this summer and see fabulous fat women all the time ... what is the secret to looking fat and fabulous?! Aibu to think that you can still look brilliant at 18 stone?! I just want fashion tips please, not judgement or weight loss advice! Thanks

it’s not a club that only fatties belong to

Fluffyears · 25/05/2018 00:00

Yeah the tears are dripping off my chins ffs.

Anyone else suspect User V is a weeny bit hangry?

She can have my biscuit, I’ve eaten the rest

UserV- if you’re still here, I suppose I could spare a bar of chocolate? Maybe a Snickers? Grin Grin

DrowningEveryDay · 25/05/2018 00:04

I've been anywhere from 12 to 18 (maybe even 20, although I refused to buy anything that wasn't 18). I think I had more fun dressing up at 18 because I had so much confidence.

When I lose weight and go down (lowest was 12, then went back up then back down and I'm now 14), I was always self-conscious.

Enjoy yourself OP! Look at the many plus-size models and bloggers out there. Google Ashley Graham, Tess Holliday.

StaplesCorner · 25/05/2018 00:04

That is bizarre, User was on another thread the other week saying its horribly rude to comment on people's appearance ... Shock

Zoflorabore · 25/05/2018 00:08

Seeing as we're all friends Grin I'm going to tell you that I just ate a full bag of Yorkie Buttons ( huge big buggers they are ) and give zero fucks.

I work so hard and exercise even though I have a chronic pain condition and I don't understand why some people can just be so nasty, must have very sad, empty lives.

For AIBU, this is a great thread.

DrowningEveryDay · 25/05/2018 00:08

We have the same body type, WittyJack! My legs have always been good, but weight goes to my upper body.

As soon as I put on an ounce I goes on my chin and I just can’t pull it off.

This. When I gain weight, my face gets it first.

DrowningEveryDay · 25/05/2018 00:12

I don’t sweat much though so I must be doing fat wrong!

Me too! Even when I was 18 and living in a tropical country.

Noqont · 25/05/2018 00:14

Oh I'm the same. Skinny arms and legs. Huge tits and a big belly. The face gets it first. (Plus side, less wrinkles). Typical apple. The work I'd have to put in to be skinny, well I just can't be arsed. Im just going to be happy with who I am.

bobtailbunny · 25/05/2018 00:17

I think the key is having shapely legs, if you've got a pair of pins as fab as WittyJack then you've got more options than someone like me who isn't as big but has chunky legs (calves in particular). Definitely agree that clothes to fit your shape without being too tight are the way to go, and it's about how you put an outfit together that matters. Top that with a good haircut and a happy, confident smile and all's good. I'm a 14/16 and would love to be a 12 again so I'm one of those who has lots of clothes in different sizes and keeps some for when I slim back down, but in reality I should really charity shop the lot and stick with what actually fits (wish I could leave the house in pjs Grin )

Noqont · 25/05/2018 00:20

I think it can be good the other way as well though. Not slim legs but a slim waist (or a waist at all) can make a difference.

AjasLipstick · 25/05/2018 00:20

I have a friend who always has amazing hair and makeup and nails. Her shoes are always beautiful. She's about a size 18-20 and she wears 50s style dresses to show her waist....she has a waist and large bust...and she does always look lovely.

When she's more casual she wears leggings and nipped in tunics....long ones.

Caramelapplecake · 25/05/2018 00:21

Just thinking of a colleague who is maybe a curvy size 18 (guess). She always looks fantastic. We are quite a casual office but she does what I'd call 'laid back glam' , always immaculate make up, her hair styled (it's wavy so she pins it up rather than straightening), example, when we had nice weather recently she was wearing fitted black maxi dress with slits up and a floaty kaftany thing on top. She seems to manage to flatter her figure but skim over the not-so-good bits, if that makes sense.

Fluffyears · 25/05/2018 00:21

All the weight goes on my backside and thighs but I have a tiny waist. A thin spiteful cow at work was disgusted that my waist was the same as hers and she was a 12. She was very boyish and very straight up and down so had no bum or hips.

AjasLipstick · 25/05/2018 00:23

Ooh I have another mate, who like WittyJack has gorgeous legs...she's an apple shape so her upper body is a lot more plump. She's probably a size 16-18 on top. She always has her tanned, lovely legs out with cute ankle boots....we live in oz. She wears nice, vintage style bias cut frocks a lot. She always looks really nice.

DrowningEveryDay · 25/05/2018 00:28

I was always in cuffed jean shorts from late Spring to early Autumn. :D

I'm not an apple though. More like a barrel/straight/rectangle maybe because I have a small chest and big arms. When I gain weight, it goes straight to my face then arms then tummy.

When I lose weight, the only area I get loose skin is my neck and arms. I guess because of how much they're stretched!

musicposy · 25/05/2018 01:01

WittyJack there's your answer as to what to wear, right in that photo. Make the most of those amazing legs, as you clearly are.

This thread just shows (apart from how many arseholes come out of the woodwork) that you need to dress for your shape, show off what you have to its best, and not worry about weight or dress sizes. The photos on this thread - you all look amazing, regardless of size and shape.

Owning up, I'm not fat (I'm a 10-12), and am just flicking through threads because I'm awake. But I swear, WittyJack, my legs are fatter than yours. I can't buy skinny jeans at all because I need a 14/16 to go over my calves and knees and even then they're uncomfortably cutting in to my flesh. Because I have a pathetic skinny torso the waist and bottom just then flops loose and falls down. I think, whatever size you are, it's easy to get disheartened by problems such as these and slouch about in a t shirt and jogging bottoms.

So, OP, I think as evidenced on here, that yes, you can look amazing at 18 stone, just as you can look a bit frumpy at 9. With that, I think I'm off to read the style and beauty threads for a bit of chunky leg/ skinny body problem solving!

WittyJack · 25/05/2018 05:27

Ah thanks everyone, I'm blushing! I posted the pic to show UserV that a size 22 might not look like her blinkers would expect, but I'm guessing from the hidden comments that I failed Grin

Being an apple is hard because you can't always wear short skirts/people can't see your legs when you're sitting down etc. I have no chance of wearing a dress; I'd just look like princess Diana in her maternity sailor dresses. I'd swap them any day for a nipped in waist - not that we get the choice, eh?!

VladmirsPoutine · 25/05/2018 06:37

Excellent use of alliteration! Grin

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 25/05/2018 07:06

You may look fab with a bit of make up and some nice clothes but it is still a heart attack waiting to happen....stop kidding yourself!!!

maxthemartian · 25/05/2018 07:18

Oh bore off Lola no-one asked you.
