Tattooed nurses

Would you be put off by a tattooed nurse? At the moment I’ve only got them in places a patient would never see but I do plan to add some to my upper arm in the near future.

Just want to hear your thoughts and reasons!

You’d judge a nurse on her eyebrows? Hmm

Gosh, I hope you all get HD browed, tattooed nurses with pink hair next time you really need one, I’d love to see you actually refuse their care.

Tattoos as positive healing symbol here in Manchester. Arianne Grande has just tweeted a picture of a bee tattoo she has got. Even local MPs are getting bee tattoos. Sign of solidarity and love here.

Amazing. I bet the victim's families are so comforted by that.

RoseWhiteTips · 24/05/2018 20:53

I thought nurses were not allowed to wear makeup or perfume.

Gillian1980 · 24/05/2018 20:53

Not at all. Wouldn’t make any difference to my view of anyone professionally.

lostinsunshine · 24/05/2018 20:54

Road. That's a point of view. Not one round here. Nice of you to care.

CaptainCabinets · 24/05/2018 20:55

Since when have nurses not been allowed to wear makeup? That’s a new one!

Poor old Jaques. Sorry to have upset you.
😢

RoseWhiteTips · 24/05/2018 20:56

Or Jacques even.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 24/05/2018 20:56

Nurses aren't permitted to have visible piercings, tattoos or unnatural coloured hair. It's actually in degree policy.

Maybe students, but most Trusts seem just to stipulate no offensive tattoos?

JacquesHammer · 24/05/2018 20:56

You say upset. I say laughing at you. Use your words if it feels better.

😂

Willow2017 · 24/05/2018 20:57

Great come back😀

According to LinkedIn he is currently employed by Cambridge University. So apparently not.

RoseWhiteTips · 24/05/2018 20:58

See your critical skills haven’t improved for a break.

Huh? Translation please...

Well actually Road if you see above I know two victims families and was at the arena last May with my kids and the victims families I know are very comforted by it and the love shown by Manchester.
In fact at least one of the parents of both of the families and siblings in both cases I know have got the bee tattoos themselves as have several of their friends. So yes actually some of them do.

NotACleverName · 24/05/2018 21:10

Have only just returned from a European city. While there, we remarked on the fact that so few of the local population sported tattoos. It was refreshing.
We did, of course, see some liberally inked Brits. They looked ridiculous.

Must’ve been a shite holiday if that’s something you thought about. 🧐

Tinysarah1985 · 24/05/2018 21:15

They could be covered head to toe in tatoos and i would not care at all. So long as they are capable of doing the job it should not matter if theg have tattoos. I think its wrong that some employers ban them.

CaptainCabinets · 24/05/2018 21:17

I wonder if the tattooed tourists looked at RWT and thought “ooerr, wonder if she knows she’s come out in her judgy pants?”

Or perhaps they were too busy enjoying their holiday to give a hoot about you. Smile

I personally don’t like tattoos. But I really really wouldn’t give a flying fuck if a nurse (or any professional) has one.

Flatdilemma · 24/05/2018 21:22

Oh and to add to my comment above most bee tattoos were done with all proceeds to charity. I think our local place raised something crazy like 13K which went directly to the victims families so I would imagine not having to stress about being off work and how to pay bills and feed your other kids was a comfort too...

Willow2017 · 24/05/2018 21:36

Wtf?
Well you thought wrong didnt you. Why the hell wouldn't they be allowed make up or perfume?

Willow2017 · 24/05/2018 21:47

This thread is like stepping into the twilight zone.

In a few years time nobody will bat an eyelid at someone with tattoos and all the pearl clutching and judging will have been in vain.

A friend of mine is a financial advisor to the seriously wealthy and famous. I wonder if the fact her tattoos are not visible makes her more intelligent than if they were visible? I really think someone should do a study on this to save so many people having ridiculous ideas that only the stupid in society have tattoos. Must keep them awake at night trying to justify their argument, a study done by an ancient, solid, acceptable university of course might help them relax.

Yb23487643 · 24/05/2018 21:54

No one will care so many people have them nowadays, esp nurses. Lots Drs have piercings. Think the days when tattoos & piercings were shocking have passed

CaptainCabinets · 24/05/2018 21:54

I understand not using strong perfumes as some scents can make others feel headachey/sick (the dark purple Ghost for me!) but makeup?! I think the majority of my patients would prefer I wore makeup otherwise they’d be wondering who let Uncle Fester in.
