To want to shout about my new bras from the rooftops?!

THANK YOU to whoever it was who told me about the boob or bust method on here a few months ago. For YEARS I've been wearing a 38G as I was told that's what I was in M&S. I knew it wasn't right, my back isn't 38 inches and if I bent over I'd get the hideous double boob Shock

Measured myself using boob or bust and came out as a 32J or 34JJ. Went for 34JJ and ordered a load of Curvy Kate and Flirtelle bras in the brastop sale. They arrived about an hour ago and I've just been prancing around with the mum tum flying in all directions in my new bras. I feel AMAZING. They're comfortable, they manage to lift up my (huge) boobs and not make them look saggy, they look GOOD.

So it turns out I'm two back sizes and FIVE cup sizes (GG, H, I, J, JJ) bigger than I was previously wearing! No wonder I always had bloody back pain.

Just wanted to shout about it for all the women in the back who haven't tried it yet, or still trust in the outdated method M&S and a few other places use.

I AM SO HAPPY Grin

I've never found socks uncomfortable. I would change from jeans to something more comfortable for lounging around at home, but that's because they don't have much movement.

Lweji · 26/05/2018 09:56

Besides, the point of the bra is to support the breasts. If it's loose, then it's just a cover not a bra.

Crunchymum · 26/05/2018 10:11

(Using that link on first page)

Gawd I've gone from 40E to 34HH.

I'm a fatty though so there is no way I'm 34'' in the back????

Lweji · 26/05/2018 10:18

Seriously, if you could measure 34 with a tape measure, you can fit a 34 bra. 36 at the most.

Cellardoor23 · 26/05/2018 10:22

I'm a 34 inch back and I range from a size 16 to an 18. More an 18 in shirts with buttons which I try to avoid anyway or non stretch tops.

When I was a size 10 I had a 28 inch back.

Cellardoor23 · 26/05/2018 10:25

Which is funny because I remember vividly (many moons ago) m&s measuring me as a 34c. When I had a 28 inch back. I know now that was the wrong size!

RedPandaMama · 26/05/2018 10:50

I'm a 16 and I'm a 32/34 back. Always believed I was a 38 even when I've been a size 14! No wonder my shoulders were always sore holding up all that boob weight!

I've gone for 34 bras and will tighten them if they start to loosen, then buy 32's when I've lost some weight.

Wow, I may have to try a 34HH then.

Loving this thread.

New bras just arrived, Fail Sad

I'm wearing a fauve 38D and it isn't great but wearable.
The algorithm recommended 36G or 36HH so I ordered both.
36HH band causing a lot of back fat and cups very wide, ok at the underneath of the boobs but the top of the cups was empty!
36G better on the band but same issue with the cups.

Back to the drawing board

Lweji · 26/05/2018 13:00

@Bejazzled

What style did you order? That happens to me with most cups except balconette.
I can only fill a fuller cup with strapless bras because the band is much wider and offers better support.
I have very bottom heavy boobs.

4yoniD · 26/05/2018 13:08

Apparently I should be 36gg. Currently in 36C. I'm not convinced, but need new bras so will have a go next time I'm at the shops.

DieSchottin93 · 26/05/2018 14:32

@Gwenhwyfar are you sure you didn't mean to type 32Ds aren't easily available? Confused Because 32Cs are all over the high street. I wore a 32Cfor years and never had any problems finding a bra in that size.

Lolly49 · 26/05/2018 15:09

I went from a 34DD to 30 F thought it was a joke I am 52 and can now see my boobs as a different entity to my stomach after about 10 years it's fab.

Bejazzled · 26/05/2018 15:16

@Lweji it was a curvy Kate Florence Balconette

RandomWordsandaNumber5 · 26/05/2018 15:19

I have problems with breast pain if the bra is not supportive enough so I read this thread with interest.
I’ve gone from a 34C to a 32E. Been trying bras on today and I think there’s something in it. I couldn’t find a 32E but tried a 32DD which felt good.
I’ve ordered some 32E on line to try them out.
If this pans out, it will make my life much easier and hopefully less painful.
Thank you OP.

Got fitted today in Bravissimo and after trying on quite a few bras I got a Freya 32FF. I came out the shop wearing it and had to remember not to drag my old bra out my bag along with my bags when I went food shopping Grin. Off for a browse online now for some more bras.

Lulusmother · 26/05/2018 22:21

So... I tried this and found myself to be a 32GG, have worn a 38C/D forever. Went to M & S this afternoon and tried on what little stock they had, almost took my eye out trying to do the bloody strap up. Did not purchase, came home to measure up again !!!

weepat · 26/05/2018 22:46

Went into M&S years ago & wearing 38D or 38DD. I would never recommend these high Street stores. Particularly for larger busts. They don't get you to lift your breasts out of the way to get a true rib measurement.

Went into an independent shop in local town & came out wearing 30h!!! Never looked back. No measuring tape, no touching, the lady just knew by looking & you telling her what you were wearing.

Put some weight on & now wear a 32jj.
Bra stop & bravissimo are wonderful.

Fintress · 27/05/2018 08:12

@lulusmother In the past when I tried on bras in M&S, I could take half a dozen bras of the same size (eg 34DD) into the changing room and every single one would vary in size from the others, even visually

Purple52 · 27/05/2018 08:29

As previously mentioned, bravissimo are amazing!!!
M&S are cr*p!!! & I blame their fitting for my boobs sagging to start with! Bravissimo to the rescue many years ago.
Love M&S for everything else, so tried their bras recently. Fitter eventually admitted defeat that nothing they had would fit me!!
I think she measured me a 38/40 F. I wear a 34HH. I just fell out the bottom of the M&S bra! It was like a baggy vest!

Potatolove19 · 27/05/2018 08:54

I thought ibwas a 34dd. For years!! Just tried this. If i have done this right then it is saying i am a 30gg! Wtaf! Now my dilemma is i cant find a nice one in this size without paying 40 quid which i cant afford right now! Why is it so expensive being a woman!?

Branleuse · 27/05/2018 08:56

Bob only gives you a starting size. You do need to actually go into the shop and try them. I know what my size is in freya and panache. I know in curvy late I go up a band size and sometimes down a cup size (sister size) and I know that I rarely get a bra in m&s that fits me comfortably in any size. Debenhams sizing is a law unto itself and it has been known for me to take 7 or 8 bras into the changing room there and not get a decent fit. However one of my most comfortable bras is from there (in my Bob size) and they're great bras but just random sizing.

KirstenRaymonde · 27/05/2018 09:02

YY to BoB being a starting size. It puts me at a 32 E or an F, I’m definitely an E. Bravissimo really is worth getting to if you can, and try on a load in the sizes it suggests.
The underwiring should lie against your rib cage all the way around, even in the middle, and then lean over and scoop all your breast tissue into the cups.

Branleuse · 27/05/2018 09:26

the type/shape of wire is why I can't wear marks and Spencer bras as the wire is so rigid it feels like I'm wearing thick scaffolding. Hideous and no need

SorrelForbes · 27/05/2018 09:51

M&S also miss out sizes on some of their ranges. For example, they don't do a FF so their G is really a FF!
