To think urinating in the shower isn't a bad thing?

It all gets washed away anyway and you can clean yourself straight after Confused how come some people see this on a par apparently with dirtiness Kim+Aggie would faint at?

My toilet goes into a soil pipe, my shower goes into the drain. So you could end up with a house that stinks. Both go into a sewer (in most houses) and both have U-bends that stop smell coming back up Hmm Do you really think that your soil goes to the sewer and your shower water goes back into the system?

There's a reason they have a sign in Africa not to piss outside the Post Office walls. It fucking stinks! Possibly because they don't have gallons and gallons of water available to wash it away? Like in a shower? Hmm

Prince Albert died from a chill he caught out walking in the rain with his eldest son. Nothing to do with drains. ALthough the great Cholera outbreak was to do with water contamination, and drainage was recommended after that.

Oh - and those who worry so much about spraying and urine 'sticking' to your shower walls - do you clean round your toilet umpteen times a day? Cos with 3 boys and a dp, the walls and floor round the loo are massively more likely to be 'sprayed'. And not even rinsed away.

mine as well. the water from shower and sinks goes int the drain. an outside drain next to the house. so we do discourage peeing in the shower to avoid smells outside.

itstimeforanamechange · 25/05/2018 08:13

Because as a fully-grown adult, you should have enough self-control and forward planning to have a wee before you get in the shower.

How does that work for menstrual flow? It comes out when it likes.

I really can't see the problem about weeing in the shower. I'm sure we wash off all sorts of horrible bacteria and remnants of bodily functions/fluids. What's the difference?

No, I clean my toilet floor once a day. There's just me and DP in the house.

Would you flush the loo and wash your hands in the water and think they were clean? I don't sit and have an nice bubble bath in the bog. I quite like to do that in the bath.

pastabest · 25/05/2018 09:06

It's quite depressing reading this actually about how many people are willing to waste so much water and how scared people are of 'germs'

We are incredibly lucky in this country to have a safe and plentiful water supply. It's horrific that in the main we use clean drinking water to wash ourselves in and flush our toilets with. In years to come people will be incredulous that it was seen as acceptable.

The non shower pissers need to unclench. Literally and figuratively.

ciderhouserules · 25/05/2018 09:29

Would you flush the loo and wash your hands in the water and think they were clean - you mean wash your hands in the water that comes down from the cistern/loo? You do know it's the same water as in the taps, right? In fact, if you have a hot water tank, it's likely to have loads of germs in the hot water...Hmm
Bluerunningshoes - your 'outside drain' will in all likelihood go into the same sewer as your soil pipe. Underground, so you can't see it. And your shower and all your sinks and basins and baths will have a U-bend to stop smells coming back up.
It's horrific that in the main we use clean drinking water to... flush our toilets with. Agreed, it is obscene when lots of the world's population can't get access to clean drinking water. We use it to flush out loos!

MrsDilber · 25/05/2018 09:38

Just had a wee in the shower and it doesn't splash up. Did it in the name of research for this thread. Took one for the team. I shall now start weeing in the shower.

pigmcpigface · 25/05/2018 09:50

"you mean wash your hands in the water that comes down from the cistern/loo?"

No, I don't mean the cistern water. I mean the bowl water. Because you don't wee in the cistern.

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/05/2018 10:10

But if I had a cool plumbing system where the showers and sinks/grey water went for garden watering/toilet flushing then I wouldn't wee in the shower. Why not? Wee is a lot better for your garden than the soap/detergent residues in grey water.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/05/2018 10:13

in fact my brother once drank the water from a loo, in his shoe...:) I think he was trying to flush the alcohol from his system..

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 10:13

Astonishing that some people think this is a delightful thing to do. Hmm

GladAllOver · 25/05/2018 10:32

Astonishing that some people think this is not the right thing to do.

rainbowdashflip · 25/05/2018 10:44

I'm always a bit Shock when I read on here how people are completely freaked out by the thought of the tiniest bit of diluted urine going anywhere near them. Do you guys all like totally wash down there after a pee? Because when you wipe with tissue you are essentially spreading piss about that area whilst mopping up some drips Wink

People who can't use a public toilet or a hotel shower or even their friends toilet because it's not their own Confused

Perhaps chill a bit and enjoy life. Fuck cleaning the toilet every time someone takes a pee Hmm

Athena18 · 25/05/2018 10:47

AuntyElle. Not so much a battle cry as a call to ARMS. (Always Resist Mingers Society)

AuntyElle · 25/05/2018 10:49

No, I don't mean the cistern water. I mean the bowl water. Because you don't wee in the cistern.

But surely you also don’t poo in the shower? OR DO YOU????

AuntyElle · 25/05/2018 10:51

Ah, very good, Athena. Wink

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/05/2018 10:54

people are very...fastidious..aren't they?
Reminds me of my sister who wont use a non applicator tampon in case her hands touch her parts, which would be 'yukkay'.

2ManyChoices · 25/05/2018 11:24

There are two types of people in the world, those who pee in the shower, and liars.

Ontopofthesunset · 25/05/2018 11:24

I am frankly amazed that some of the people who post on these threads have ever kissed someone, ever had sex, ever changed a nappy ... You're not filling up a basin with water, peeing in in and then washing your hands in it. You're weeing down a plughole at the same time as standing in a drenching flood of water. Then you are washing yourself, including, for the most fastidious of you, every part that some disgusting urine might have touched. Very dilute urine is not going to smell going through your outside drains unless your outside drains are not actually draining in which case they'll smell stagnant anyway.

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/05/2018 11:26

There are two types of people in the world, those who pee in the shower, and liars. I'd heard this before, but with "showers" replaced by "wet suits".

puppymouse · 25/05/2018 12:06

I've never weed in the shower. I don't think I'm particularly precious or Kim & Aggie. I just don't like the idea. I am always surprised by the numbers of people who do. I'm sure it isn't a health hazard just not something I ever do.

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/05/2018 12:10

@puppymouse That's probably the most sensible "anti" post on the thread!

pigmcpigface · 25/05/2018 12:12

"But surely you also don’t poo in the shower? OR DO YOU????"

Given that I'm strongly against weeing in the shower, then it's pretty unlikely I'd poo in there, isn't it? [grin[

Water does not wash everything off a bath or a shower tray. There is often a build-up of soap residue and fat (moisturisers from conditioner, shower gel etc) on the surface, and things stick to this. Try taking a bath and putting fragrant oil in it, then shaving your legs, and draining the bath. You'll find a ring of hair-encrusted oil around the bath. Something similar happens when you shower with soap, wash and condition your hair - the flowing water doesn't get rid of everything. That's why it's necessary to clean baths.

puppymouse · 25/05/2018 12:15

Thanks Mere! Horses for courses an' all that!

IncyWincyMouseRat · 25/05/2018 12:32

Proud shower pisser here 😂
