To think urinating in the shower isn't a bad thing?

It all gets washed away anyway and you can clean yourself straight after Confused how come some people see this on a par apparently with dirtiness Kim+Aggie would faint at?

There is absolutely no difference whatever between one person urinating while showering, and a hundred people doing the same.
The proportion of urine to soapy water is still tiny and insignificant.
In any case, urine is 99% water and the impurities in it will be far less than the solid waste from dead skin and body orifices.

It is nothing less than ridiculous to think that this is unhygienic.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 24/05/2018 21:45

I thought everyone did this?!

LadyGAgain · 24/05/2018 21:49

It's just wee. What's the big deal?

rainydogday · 24/05/2018 21:53

Oh god peeing in public swimming pool showers?! Please no. Saw two toddlers rolling around on the floor gulping up water that was draining from the shared showers and spitting it out at each other, shampoo, wee and all. Whilst their mother showered. 😱 gross. But at home, 😉

TwitterQueen1 · 24/05/2018 22:09

Pipp "But the shower is cleaned after each use with detol. Weeing or not!"
OMG. Life is too short - really, it is. With 4 of us in the house there is absolutely no way I would waste what's left of my time cleaning the shower 4 times daily.... seriously, there is nothing to worry about here. How do you think (the vast majority of) people survive in countries where they don't have running hot showers available on a daily basis?

Flappypants · 24/05/2018 22:10

I'll never forget reading about the wife who caught her DH having done a poo in the shower and he tried to cover it with his foot. I still want to bleach my brain.

AuntyElle · 24/05/2018 22:12

”I for one will continue to use the toilet before bathing or showering.”

It’s not one I can get behind, but that is some battle cry, Athena.

Can only assume that many members of MN are whirling dervishes judging by the number of people pissing up the walls of their showers.

Stayed in a B&B some years ago and had booked an ensuite room. When I arrived the room only had a sink and no toilet so I queried it. Owner looked at me balefully and announced a sink meant the room was en suite. Suit yourself I replied, I will be using it as a toilet then if needed. Gentle readers I did as well and bleeding uncomfortable it was climbing up onto it in the small hours!

Whisky2014 · 24/05/2018 22:13

I also do it. Helping reduce water waste one shower pee at a time.

RespoDad · 24/05/2018 22:14

Pissing in the shower is disgusting. That’s what the sink is for.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 24/05/2018 22:24

I can't believe I have read 10 pages of this. Yes I do it sometimes but only in my own home.

I have never thought that people might do it in the gym showers but I walk around the changing room in my bare feet so goodness only knows what is getting onto my skin. Not going to loose any sleep over it.

My sister takes flip flops to wear in the shower when camping but that's a different discussion altogether!

dorothyparka · 24/05/2018 22:55

Piss in the shower, shit in the dishwasher, it's all goodHmm

Luisa27 · 24/05/2018 23:50

That actually made me LOL, Aunty Elle!

ruraldreamer · 25/05/2018 00:01

Reading some of the responses on this thread makes me wonder how some people would cope if civilisation and society collapsed.

FWIW I often do t think I need to pet until I'm in the shower and it seems a waste of time to get out dry off a bit just to wee in the loo.
But if I had a cool plumbing system where the showers and sinks/grey water went for garden watering/toilet flushing then I wouldn't wee in the shower.

Abbylee · 25/05/2018 00:02

No no no no no, I do not, will not, can not even think it.

Iflyaway · 25/05/2018 00:04

Yes it is disgusting. Lazy shits.

Showers are for washing, bogs are for pissing etc.

Who the fuck would want to buy a house when you know they pissed in the shower, Happened to a friend.

There's a reason they have a sign in Africa not to piss outside the Post Office walls. It fucking stinks!

Sommelierrrr · 25/05/2018 00:09

I wee in the bath.

Highlight of my day Grin

genius1308 · 25/05/2018 00:25

People do realise that urine is sterile don't they? No one is going to die, or even get covered in germs from weeing in the shower. Midwives tell you to do it after having a baby, you're also told to do it if you've got a water infection and my husband's gp told him to do it when he had kidney stones (in fact that's the only way he could manage to wee because it caused him so much pain until they eventually passed). I don't think all these medical professionals would be recommending this if it was dangerous / deadly/or even slightly gross!

Spermysextowel · 25/05/2018 01:09

Some who have an ileostomy will have ‘naked’ showers. This means that if their stoma is active at the time then there will be poo. It all gets washed away. The freedom of having no appliance stuck to you apparently makes it worth it.
My ostomate son hasn’t felt the need to try it but I wouldn’t care if he did.

user1471447863 · 25/05/2018 01:21

Maybe what's confusing some here is they are unclear whether we have the shower on at time of said wee.
So for clarity, weeing in shower while shower is on - OK
Quick slash in unused shower/bath and then walking away leaving puddle of pee - not Ok

VanillaSugar · 25/05/2018 06:30

I shared a flat with a girl who wanted to bring her friend round to stay the night. This friend, Colin, was the topic of a previous conversation where she confessed that he was too lazy in the night to go to the loo so he would urinate in the wardrobe instead.

He was banned from our flat.

Teacher22 · 25/05/2018 06:56

Dear God this has ruined my day. The Victorians had to have Prince Albert die from what he picked up from the Windsor drains before they woke up to the concept basic hygiene and enacted laws to put in public sewage systems.

Are we really back to the age of superstition and magic thinking?

user1471447863 · 25/05/2018 07:59

What kind of toxic pee do some of you people have that it leaves any kind of evidence behind for people to know? If your pee stinks or stains that much you really should see your doctor.

bluerunningshoes · 25/05/2018 08:03

the yellow/orangey stuff in the grouts is mould and bacteria colonies, not pee.
