To think urinating in the shower isn't a bad thing?

It all gets washed away anyway and you can clean yourself straight after Confused how come some people see this on a par apparently with dirtiness Kim+Aggie would faint at?

FFS - it’s only wee!

flowergrrl77 · 24/05/2018 18:51

@BlueBug45 all of my bathroom water goes out to underground soil pipes with no open anything on the way. All as dirtied water not grey.

;)

EdWinchester · 24/05/2018 18:53

When I had my first baby, I was under strict instruction to only piss in the bath with the hand held shower thingy running.

Some of the posters on here would’ve have a conniption.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 24/05/2018 18:53

My toilet goes into a soil pipe, my shower goes into the drain. So you could end up with a house that stinks

Here the drainpipes from the bathrooms joins the soil pipe which then goes into the same drain as the kitchen sink and the same effluent from the three house ‘up’ from me also runs through the same pipe in my back garden.

When I pee in the shower it saves water and is actually flushed away by MORE water (plus soap, shampoo etc) than if I used the toilet. Nothing is left on the walls or floor of the shower because of all the nice clean water that is used getting off my sweat and general grime...trust me after a good workout my sweat smells way worse than a little bit of well hydrated pee!

QueenDoris. This would be hilarious if it were not for my suspicion that if you put it on MN as an AIBU you would probably win a lot of support.
As for urinating in the shower, bath, gym, swimming pool - absolutely disgusting. Animals respond to their basic function without thought or consideration. Civilised humans don’t. My mum would say “she is definitely not a lady.”

Pipp91 · 24/05/2018 19:28

Never did until I gave birth to my second child and weeing in the shower was bliss compared to squirting water down there while weeing. So now if I have to go I go. But the shower is cleaned after each use with detol. Weeing or not!

BlueBug45 · 24/05/2018 19:38

@flowergrrl77 I live in a flat and while the all middle flats waste water all goes into the soil pipe those who live top flat doesn't. Their kitchen and non-toilet bathroom waste water empties like mine into the top drain, though through a different waste pipe to mine.

Just before the old tenants moved out they managed to block the gully for the top drain. If either myself or them had urined into the shower I would have been able to smell it through my windows.

Myself and the new tenants were left to sort out their mess. In my case I had to get my OH to do it because I'm pregnant and refuse to touch waste sewage and waste water.

AuntyElle · 24/05/2018 19:38

Animals respond to their basic function without thought or consideration. Civilised humans don’t.

But, Athena, having read this thread, I now realise that giving the matter ‘thought and consideration’ will lead me to wee in the shower more often, due to the environmental benefits. It really isn’t ‘civilised’ to waste clean water.

And these two look fresh-faced and squeaky-clean enough:

Isn't the definition of a WASP anyone who steps out of the shower to take a piss?

SapphireSeptember · 24/05/2018 19:51

What's a WASP?

AuntyElle · 24/05/2018 19:56

WASP: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Anglo-Saxon_Protestant

flowergrrl77 · 24/05/2018 19:57

Omg @BlueBug45 ick!!

Yea, for someone in your sort of home, shower urination is foul!

For me? It’s rare... but like when the episiotomy was healing... was waaay more comfy to purposefully wee in the shower! I promise, no water contamination occurs at mine ;)

OJZJ · 24/05/2018 19:58

AuntyElle 🤣

And thank you for posting the link I don't know how toGrin

JazzyFizzle · 24/05/2018 20:32

Why don't we just go the whole hog and start $hitting in the shower too? Oh that's right, because we're not bloody animals....

Moussemoose · 24/05/2018 20:36

But we are animals. We are all mammals and some of the animal stuff is the most fun.Wink

Believeitornot · 24/05/2018 20:40

Why don't we just go the whole hog and start $hitting in the shower too

Because shit wouldn’t go down the plug hole.

hotcrossbun99 · 24/05/2018 20:47

The people who are disgusted...what about when you have a shower after sex then? Or even have sex IN the shower! 😮

beltanelove · 24/05/2018 20:57

Heavy periods happen in showers

PrincessoftheSea · 24/05/2018 21:03

Its never occured to me to wee in the shower.

Athena18 · 24/05/2018 21:16

I have sympathy for the post episiotomy/c section folk or even those with a UTI. Lot of relief to be had here. But this would exceptional. AuntyElle. Interesting article. Not sure about the science. The thought of one student after another using the shower as a lavatory while having a shower, until dozens, hundreds had passed through is not a pleasant thought. It is in the nature of people that not all will rinse the shower properly. Note I said rinse rather that wash. If everyone was to follow the example of some posters and thoroughly clean the shower with dettol or any other household cleanser I would think the accumulated environmental impact would be fairly disastrous. I for one will continue to use the toilet before bathing or showering.

Ontopofthesunset · 24/05/2018 21:26

I find these peeing in the shower threads hilarious. Surely even if you don't pee in the shower it must have occurred to you that people might? I wonder whether people who think peeing in the shower is uncivilised or that potty training is a waste of time if you are going to pee in the shower are generally good at logical thinking.

I choose to pee in the shower - it saves water and everything gets washed at the same time. Of course it doesn't smell - it gets washed away instantly with soap and shampoo. It is extraordinarily dilute. Unless you or members of your family have hepatitis or another urine-borne infection, what harm do you think peeing in the shower is going to do? Even if it didn't all wash away, you're not going to absorb germs through the soles of your feet. And you wash your feet anyway.

LEMtheoriginal · 24/05/2018 21:34

I find it stings if I see in the bath. Shower is ok though although I'm struggling to remember if I've actually weed in the shower (we've only had one about a year) sure I must have!

Interesting about the athletes foot - do has a fungal nail infection so I'm going to suggest he piddles on it!

LEMtheoriginal · 24/05/2018 21:37

I once weed outside a public toilet on the motorway (or A road) because the toilets were vile so I thought I'd just pop round the back. It was like a mobile building thing what I didn't realise was that it was actually a truckers cafe!! Blush

rainbowdashflip · 24/05/2018 21:39

I particularly enjoy my shower pee, there is something really enjoyable about just standing under the hot water and letting go. I have never tried acrobatic pissing so my shower curtains have never suffered Wink

Maybeicanhelp · 24/05/2018 21:41

Honestly, get a grip.

Peeing in the shower is perfectly acceptable, you are rinsing any residue away with soap and water.

Think yourselves lucky you have first world plumbing, access to soap and hot water, toilet paper, tampons, towels and clean underwear.
