The article was extremely badly written and just seemed to pulled bits and pieces Of info from here and Instagram. No in-depth research or grasp of what the real issue is.
These instagrammers label themselves as ‘influencers’. If you’re going to try influence others, then there has to be ethics. Trying to make people believe that an ordinary Joe Soap should be able to achieve a certain lifestyle - trying to influence us to buy the latest trendy small brand children’s labels, ready to prepared meals, holidays galore, small brand jewellery, make-up, beauty treatments, furniture, a new item of clothing every day - the list goes on. And most are very reluctant to say the reason they have all they do is because it was gifted, etc. There are influencing people to that everyone should have all this.
And the over-sharing with regards to children - some pop their cute children on to Instastories and if you want to strip it back you get the impression they’re doing so in the hope they’ll be gifted toys, clothes, books, etc for their child. (I’ve even seen one influencer saying how some company that sells pet accessories sent them stuff and then noticed another influencer suddenly showing their pet at every opportunity).
Putting photos and videos of their children on Instagram that you just know they’ll cringe at when they look back over when they’re older. Sharing details about their behaviour, creating scenes with children to promote their ‘brand’ further,
The whole area needs to be regulated with codes of practice.
