I didn’t say she’d be able to pull it off postman Wink it just seems the Next Big Thing to do after book clubs & cruises.

DillyDilly · 24/05/2018 11:25

I don’t think MOD will come back with any campaign as it wouldn’t be her forte. She has tried going down the route of promoting positive body image but it hasn’t worked because she hasn’t grasped there’s a fine line between a few pounds overweight and being an unhealthy weight.

Her problem is that she tried to be all things to everyone, motivated partly by financial gain. I’m sure it was a novelty and exciting to be sent clothes for herself and the kids, interior items, ready to cook items and all the rest but it was going to backfire sooner or later. There was always a limited lifespan. The same for most bloggers who now call themselves influencers which just translates to being paid to promote someone else’s products.

Soon enough these smaller brands will discover that there’s better ways to promote their business than sending influencers their products, flamboyant lunches with the gift bag and so on.

Oddish Grin

nipersvest · 24/05/2018 11:29

I'd stake my chocolate biscuit on, using influencers for advertising costs more revenue that it makes.

nipersvest · 24/05/2018 11:31

*than not that

DillyDilly · 24/05/2018 11:37

I would think the same @Nipersvest but the brands themselves have been caught up in the whole thing too and will soon realise that it doesn’t actually translate into real sales and profit.

I think more and more consumers will stop buying from the brands that are constantly seeing to be entertaining and constantly gifting to influencers.

kirinm · 24/05/2018 11:38

If MOD does come back having made no changes, I'll be really disappointed. I will not be sad to see the instagram influencers done and dusted since their cliques and constant selling has totally ruined what was once a nice app.

Boredandtired · 24/05/2018 11:39

Surely she'd have to comeback with the midwife/women's health angle to have any real credibility? She gets respect for referencing 'work' that is in this field, work reviewing holidays that are free is only respected by the fans and other IGers. I can't bring myself to look at WS stories. I cannot beleive that anyone would respond to criticism of an event/their work with anything less than 'I'm so sorry you felt like that'. It's not like these people went to set her up, they paid and she let them down.
It's all so horrid and self obsessed.

jamoncrumpets · 24/05/2018 11:42

They didn't pay Bored, it was a free event

MelanieLampshade · 24/05/2018 11:44

It's obviously done Marks and Spencer's a world of good putting their not-very-nice clothes on all the usual suspects.

How many branches are closing?

MarshaBradyo · 24/05/2018 11:45

Quite a few

Profits are down big time

nipersvest · 24/05/2018 11:47

I suspect she'll let the dust settle, then quietly return and normal business to resume. I would admire her more if she admits to her own behaviour being at least partly to blame.

sacchetto · 24/05/2018 11:51

My take: MOD will come back on holiday over the half term

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 24/05/2018 11:54

There is no way MOD could do a campaign. Can you imagine?

Civil servant: Ah. Hello MOD. Thank you for joining us today to discuss your campaign. Can I please ask you a question?

MOD: No! You are a jealous bully. I am working sooooooo hard on this campaign etc etc ad infinitum

Cue instastories about rude civil servant who clearly does not know what they are talking about. This is their name etc. Susie Verril threatening to stab them as a "joke" and Candice Brathwaite lecturing them to #bekind

Whilst the rest of the world thinks WTF Hmm

Just. No.

MarshaBradyo · 24/05/2018 11:55

Wonder where MadameG and FlyingB are

Hopefully not taken out Mn style for starting previous threads ;

MarshaBradyo · 24/05/2018 12:00

That hashtag #letthembelittle has a certain irony, I cannot view it with the innocence it’s meant to have

Needs a £ #letthembelittle£

PavlovaPrincess · 24/05/2018 12:02

Mod will be back. No doubt she still has some advertising contracts to fill.

Wonder how FOD's book is doing?

PavlovaPrincess · 24/05/2018 12:03

fufil obviously

AdidasGirl · 24/05/2018 12:07

So Paperchase have a press event today launching #YouOkHun

Oddish · 24/05/2018 12:08

Fod has blocked LH, damage limitation but like LH says, it’s ‘interesting’.

AdidasGirl · 24/05/2018 12:12

Sorry for my ignorance @Oddish but who is LH?

Boredandtired · 24/05/2018 12:16

@jamincrumpets my mistake, got it confused with that £84 event. Still no need to be rude to people.

Oddish · 24/05/2018 12:24

adidas Laura Heskith, the one who screenshot the dm from mod

AdidasGirl · 24/05/2018 12:25

Thank @Oddish I recognise the name now.

Misterpostman · 24/05/2018 12:32

Do the NSPCC teach online consent as part of their PANTS campaign in schools?

If it is being said that seeking a child's consent to online photos should start early, shouldn't it be discussed in primary schools? Particularly as it seems there are many parents are not having that discussion with their children.
