Tbf OP she's in college full time, works part time, is learning to drive, keeping up music lessons and revising for exams. There's no real down time in that day. When does she chill with friends or in front of the telly? Catch up on the sleep teenagers always need

I'd say that's busy. It's a full day and sounds pretty tiring. Not too busy to put her washing in the laundry basket though IMO! It takes seconds, and is necessary if she wants clean clothes. I wouldn't get worked up about her not making we bed though, realistically it doesn't matter.

blackteasplease · 22/05/2018 18:07

Well it's busy enough but it doesn't mean she can get out of basic tasks to look after herself and her immediate environment at home.

Candyflip · 22/05/2018 18:10

Aww Speckle your poor dd, does she never get the chance just to be 12?

Knittedfairies · 22/05/2018 18:10

I don’t know about busy, but it looks like a lot of work to me.

lemonsunshinecake · 22/05/2018 18:12

Yes that's busy

IfNot · 22/05/2018 18:16

Fuck yeah its busier than I am and I'm a lone parent running a small business! Let's see..today I did about 5 hours work, went for a walk, tidied up a bit and now I'm making tea...my bed is not made..I didn't have any lessons or revision though.
At 17 my day would be..go to work...come home..flop about...maybe go to the pub..!
Fair play that she could put her stuff in the wash basket but really if she runs out of clean clothes I guess she can always bung some in the machine? As for a 12 year old up at 4.30-it's just too much! I'm a big believer in downtime!

KittenBeast · 22/05/2018 18:19

So between her daily exercise, her music lesson, her driving lesson, exam revision and then a 5 hour shift, she should be doing loads of housework? For fucks sake give her a break. As for the PP who said that unmade beds are smelly and dirty, I don't know about you, but my bed doesn't suddenly turn in to a rancid heap of shite if I don't make it. I don't get it, nobody is in my bedroom from 6:30 am till about 11pm, nobody gives even the merest hint of a fuck if I've made it look pretty or not.

mustbemad17 · 22/05/2018 18:22

A bed is surely being aired much better anyway by being turned down? So i the duvet is scrunched in a heap at least the rest of the bed is being aired 😊

Kerry987 · 22/05/2018 18:32

I think it is busy. Why does she have to occupy each hour of the day? Can she not have time to relax and help around the house.

Talith · 22/05/2018 18:36

That seems busy to me. I'd need a powernap at some point along the way old and unfit

A1hulahoop · 22/05/2018 18:48

Aww Speckle your poor dd, does she never get the chance just to be 12?

Oh good Lord, DEFINITELY this

SpeckleDust · 22/05/2018 19:07

Of course she does! That was just one day in a very varied week.

The research interview today was with her friend and they got paid £25 for it.

Yesterday she went out with her mates for about 5 hours to a local funday event and played on the obligatory Fortnite for a couple of hours.

It’s her that drives her own swim training - we are just the unpaid taxi service (she has been like a whirlwind of energy since she could toddle) Grin

Singlenotsingle · 22/05/2018 19:09

Leave the washing and just close the door on the bed. If she can't do them, they don't get done.

I think it's very busy actually.

Violetshift · 22/05/2018 19:51

What is a research interview for a 12 year old?

I also think its busy too. Agree 1 hour isn’t much revision. Surely she doesn’t drive and work 5 hours every day if she is at college?

formerbabe · 22/05/2018 19:54

I think that's busy.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 22/05/2018 19:57

Suggestion about the washing, put a laundry basket in her room. Then it takes no more time than dropping it on the floor.

SpeckleDust · 22/05/2018 20:28

One like this:

(Not this particular one)

JuicyStrawberry · 22/05/2018 20:33

That's busy to me.

9amTrain · 22/05/2018 20:36

Looks busy to me! What else do you want her to do? Climb a mountain?

crisscrosscranky · 22/05/2018 20:38

Wake up at 8am

Go on an hour walk- 9am after breakfast and dressed etc.

Go to a music lesson - 10.30-11am?

Go to a driving lesson - 1hour? 11-12noon

Revise for an hour - 1pm -2pm

Go to work for 5 hours - 3pm- 8pm

Dinner, shower, down time etc

Bed at 11pm

With travel time etc I think it's pretty busy.

hungryhippo90 · 22/05/2018 20:42

Oh wow, id kill for this day.

I’m currently up at 6, get showered and ready, whilst DD gets ready.
Feed dog.
DDs breakfast, concentrate on getting her hair done, ensure homework is done and read with DD.
Leave the house to get her to school,
Hop in the car to work.
Get to work to face the usual “Eh, part timer?! Finally ere then”
Work from that point until usually 2pm, at which point I hop back in the car to drive to the school to collect DD.
Go to pick up the nights dinner,
Get home, cook. Clean as I go.
Have dinner.
Nah DD to bath and brush her teeth.
DH tucks DD into bed, quite literally as I sit down and doze off if I’m not dealing with paperwork from site.

Usually get 2 loads of washing done a day, and at the moment studying wherever I can fit it in.

DHs day is worse as he generally leaves the house at 6:45 doesn’t get back till dinners half done and does the dog walks .
