Just came across this on another thread.

So many questions.

OP posts:
Yarboosucks · 21/05/2018 22:43

I use dilute Zoflora as it makes the house smell nice and masks the smell of our rather old dog

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 22:45

And if you are a short arse like me the boesch could drip on your head while you do it, stretching up

ScreamingValenta · 21/05/2018 22:46

Another who Zofloras them Smile

Bubbles121 · 21/05/2018 22:52

I was going to comment on here about how I'd never bleached a door frame - until it just dawned on me that actually I did it all the time in my last kitchen as the doors were white and they kept getting smudges etc on them. Does that count?

ShamelesslyPlacemarking · 21/05/2018 22:59

Google seems to think it's to do with removing black mould, which seems fair (and is something I do!), but I use tea tree oil and white vinegar rather than bleach. Can I claim half a tick?

Birdsgottafly · 21/05/2018 23:00

I now use Zoflora.

When I had a German Shepherd, I'd use bleach.

I like to do a deep clean, once a month, at least. My house, now isn't big, so i can do the door-frames/skirting boards/handrail, in the living-room hallway, up to the bedroom door/frames. When I had a bigger house, with a spindle staircase and long hall with a door to get to the front door, I'd just do a full clean in the hallway and front living-room, in one go. I had stair rods, so had them to polish, as well as the parts of the stairs that the carpets finished on. Think large Victorian terrace.

I use different cloths and mop heads, for in the kitchen and bathroom.

You could feel the clean as you walked around.

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:00

Bubbles

No I think that’s acceptable. That’s removing marks. But bleaching the frame? Can’t be marks on the frame that’s some wierd germ cleaning obsession.,Wink

Thinking about this far too much Grin

Birdsgottafly · 21/05/2018 23:02

Ohmydayslove, I always used a ladder.

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:02

Why use different cloths and mop heads for kitchen/bathroom?

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:03

Bloody hell Birds you fancy cleaning my house you sound great Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/05/2018 23:04

Bleach is not good for removing mould.

Birdsgottafly · 21/05/2018 23:05

Ohmydayslove, I've never worried about germs. They just look nicer and once you clean to that level, the house doesn't feel clean, if you stop.

My DH had trained/worked as a Butcher and used to clean our Kitchen, to that standard. When he worked away and I didn't do it, you could feel/see the difference.

whywhywhywhywhyyy · 21/05/2018 23:05

I've zofloraed one before -after i dropped a pack of passata and it splashed it-

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:05

Mr muscle black mound spray is good

Luisa27 · 21/05/2018 23:05

Ahahaha - yes I saw that too 😂

And it was said so nonchalantly....you know...”just give the door frames a good bleaching while I’m out....” 😐

I’m still talking to DH about it - he asked if it was a euphemism too 😂

Luisa27 · 21/05/2018 23:07

I always use different cloths and mop heads for kitchen and bathrooms too - doesn’t everyone 😮😷🤢

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:08

I feel proper fired up now and going to have a go tomorrow Birds unless you fancy coming over Grin

Pimpernell182 · 21/05/2018 23:08

Never bleached a doorframe, or indeed cleaned one in any way that I can recall. If I really rack my brains, perhaps before painting, maybe? Or at the end of a tenancy, I might have dusted off the top bit. What kind of dirty are they supposed to get?

What other stuff am I supposed to bleach? Other than the loo, I am a bleaching novice.

Also, what is zoflora?

GreenTulips · 21/05/2018 23:08

sometimes go over the door handles, staircase handles and light switches with Dettol though

Me too when one of the kids has been sick

Fatted · 21/05/2018 23:09

I have to admit I had to bleach our kitchen door frame the other day. I noticed a mark on it that rather embarrassingly has probably been there for years and wouldn't bloody well scrub off!

I do like to give the doors, skirting boards etc a good scrub every now and then. Probably couple of times a year.

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:10

No luisa do you? I feel like I am missing something. I just hsve cloths and one mop! I feel
Like a right grubby cow now Smile

Birdsgottafly · 21/05/2018 23:10

"Why use different cloths and mop heads for kitchen/bathroom?"

Bathroom has body fluids in it, so there's no chance of cross contamination. It's just infection control, as well, that I learned in the workplace.

I buy a handle from Wilkinsons and different coloured mop heads. I have different rubber gloves than what I wear to wash the kitchen/dishes.

AdoraBell · 21/05/2018 23:10

Birds my German Shepherds give me a Hmm look if I use bleach.

Ohmydayslove · 21/05/2018 23:11

Zoflora is in a little bottle. It’s concentrated cleaner and you add some to a bucket of water to clean. It’s not pure bleach

Eveforever · 21/05/2018 23:12

Funnily enough, I was thinking my bathroom door might need some extra attention. Bleach you say!?
