Meghan's dress was lovely but lumpy looking,/ill fitting bra look

Anyone else notice how lumpy it looked at front like when you wear a bra that's two small and you have two cleavages lt spoiled it for me tbh though l think she looked stunning. I thought it might just be the light as it is quite shimmery but have noticed it in several shots /light now. A wardrobe malfunction?

Rosie how do you know MM hasn't given the same amount towards poverty in Africa?
You don't so button it.

user1483875094 · 20/05/2018 17:59

She looked absolutely stunning and very stylish. Given the horrendous garbage "parts" of her family caused her over the last few weeks, I was amazed at how well she looked, and how calm she was. Try to imagine the horrendous stress the poor girl had to endure over the last few weeks due to the papparazi, and her family problems. She was a complete STAR, her dress was ADORABLE, and your comment was very cruel and unnecessary, given what the poor girl has managed to contend with. She may well have lost a bit of weight at the last moment due to all the stress, but GOD she did well, the poor girl. Give her a break!

starlight13 · 20/05/2018 18:00

You are right, it did not fit well around the bust and waist which is surprising as the dressmaker would have been fitting right up until that morning - she is ( sorry, we are) paying a lot for that dress and she must be disappointed when she looks at the photos. It is not being bitchy, it is a fact and it is her duty to look good.
She's trying too hard imo - hey look at me, I'm wearing a really plain dress, no ott jewels, an 'ever so seasonal simple cake' ( which cost £50k!). Commoners to the wedding, please love me as I am just so cool. Just about to move into a 21 room cottage. We are paying for the lot. Well done Kate for wearing ivory I say. It's going to get pretty wobbly at the top of that ladder if she doesn't do what she's told.

Ellyess · 20/05/2018 18:02

Smudge100 I agree, it should not matter if in 2 weeks she lost weight. Most brides do lose weight before the wedding and the dress may be looser than when first measured. This one however, did not have good darting on the bust in my opinion, no matter what weight she lost. I've made 100s of tops and dresses, including bridesmaids and wedding dresses, and really there was a horrible bumpiness around the bust on this dress. It would not have passed my standards and I would not have left it like that. The cost was £200k? Someone lift me off the floor. Sorry, but it really should have fitted better for that. Think about great stage productions, for example, I adore opera, the costumes sometimes are stupendous. But they fit! Surely for that money they should have the expertise to make a smooth fit across the bust? If the bride lost weight, losing even an inch, it should be no problem for them to deal with. £200k!? !? ! Someone was robbed.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/05/2018 18:02

Have you had too much cider starlight? Nasty.

starlight13 · 20/05/2018 18:03

Oh and can't anyone see that the Royal family never wanted her dad or family to the wedding. They set him up and paid him off. She said that she has 'always cared' for her dad - not 'loved'? Past tense too.

RoseWhiteTips · 20/05/2018 18:03

Duckie, you don’t know that she HAS. Try not to be so rude.

Cuppaoftea · 20/05/2018 18:04

I hadn't considered that. Do you think it was a bit upstarty?

Yes and rather disrespectful to the Queen who has worked tirelessly for decades as the Head of the Commonwealth. Meghan's veil reminded me of Queen Elizabeth's.

Spiteful nonsense. It's clear from the engagements already undertaken by the couple that they are going to be heavily involved in commonwealth activities, and I thought the veil was a lovely tribute to that future role and to Harry, who already does so much for the commonwealth. This comment is typical of the sneery attitude that Meghan is somehow an upstart - and I'm sure that stems from the fact that she's a biracial American and not the 'English rose' a lot of you would have preferred to see Harry marrying.

It has nothing to do with race, I don't know a single fellow Brit, myself included, who even considered that an issue.

Meghan's married only the sixth in line to the throne and the wedding wasn’t a state occasion. They're minor Royals. She should have left all the political statements, including the veil embroidery, out of the day.

Camilla and Kate are the future Queen Consorts.

huuggs · 20/05/2018 18:04

HighwayDragon1 I wondered the same. But figured it was just me.

RoseWhiteTips · 20/05/2018 18:04

Someone is their 30s is not a “girl”. This is not how you should describe a feminist.

Her second wedding dress looked absolutely amazing!

clyde5591 · 20/05/2018 18:07

Re: Soup Dragon
I watched it live and both the Queen and Prince Philip were seated (last guests to arrive) 5 minutes before the bride arrived.
She did not walk down the aisle in front of the Queen - she walked halfway down on her own and the Prince Charles took her arm - they walked together up to the alter where Harry and best man William were waiting.
If you are going to post - do get the basics correct

RoseWhiteTips · 20/05/2018 18:08

Isn’t a 21 room cottage oxymoronic?!

GalwayWayfarer · 20/05/2018 18:08

@starlight13 she paid for the dress herself, using her own money.

Who knows where you got £50,000 for the cost of the wedding cake since KP haven't shared it, but a 600-servings cake from Claire Patak would cost about £3,500 so it looks like you're a tiny bit off, unless you accidentally added an extra 0...

And finally, it's not her duty to look good. Regardless of the fact that most people think she did look beautiful, no woman owes it to the world to be pretty regardless of their role. It's her job to be an ambassador and a representative of the RF and the UK and her ability to do that has nothing to do with how she looks.

Janie62 · 20/05/2018 18:08

Whingers the lot of you. She looked stunning

Ironfloor269 · 20/05/2018 18:08

Didn’t read the whole thread but I agree. It was too loose around her bust/waist area. Surely, a Givenchy designer should be able to do a better fit? If the waist/bust area was better fitted, I think it’d have been a stunning dress.

Also, I feel ivory or off white (similar to Diana’s wedding dress) would have been a better colour rather than pure white.

RoseWhiteTips · 20/05/2018 18:09

Honest post, starlight. Kudos.

Yb23487643 · 20/05/2018 18:09

Was classic beautiful & just demure enough. Much closer fitting & it would’ve been too showy. I think she shook off the showing American stereotype really well

Elendon · 20/05/2018 18:10

I thought she looked gorgeous. I'm sure her husband thought the same and I'm sure her mum also thought the same.

Ellyess · 20/05/2018 18:11

user148387509 Being critical of a dress is not criticising the person wearing it! It is criticising the Designer and Maker of the gown, who, having been paid a huge sum and having a huge reputation, should never make a lady wear a dress which does not fit her smoothly over the bust. It is irrelevant whether she lost weight and most brides do lose a bit of weight, so the couturier should be able to deal with that with ease.

Nobody is criticising the Bride for the fit of her dress. When she wears such a top class couture gown and the fit looks bumpy, the fault lies with the couturier. We are sympathetic to the Bride, who, as you said, was dignified and outstandingly composed during such a stressful time.

For those interested in dog whistle racism, it's worth thinking about the implications of words like "upstart".

Sallystyle · 20/05/2018 18:13

It was a £525 wedding dress hardly going to look amazing was it.

Oh dear.

RoseWhiteTips · 20/05/2018 18:16

Why do people here - some, at least - persist in calling this wedding a state occasion. It was not.

And yes, Camilla and Kate are the two women with real status - after the Queen. Obv.

PH is dropping further down the pecking order...as we should all know. How long before the novelty begins to pall for MM?
