Meghan's dress was lovely but lumpy looking,/ill fitting bra look

Anyone else notice how lumpy it looked at front like when you wear a bra that's two small and you have two cleavages lt spoiled it for me tbh though l think she looked stunning. I thought it might just be the light as it is quite shimmery but have noticed it in several shots /light now. A wardrobe malfunction?

I thought Meghans dress was classy, elegant and definately Meghan.

You do realise a wedding is more than just a dress? The look of love between Harry and Meghan made me blubber and I have never cried at weddings before.

MrsElla · 20/05/2018 01:43

It was a £525 wedding dress hardly going to look amazing was it. Embarrassing for her really as Kate's dress was a showstopper and custom made to her size

BitOfFun · 20/05/2018 01:53

Just as an aside, the "scientific" studies on fertility and age that we still use are ridiculously outdated.

Shambu · 20/05/2018 02:21

Lady Charlotte Wellesley had a dress with a similar look- it had a fantastic back detail and skirt. Now that was a dress, although you can only imagine she was melting!

That dress was hideous. Truly awful. No comparison.

DistanceCall · 20/05/2018 02:25

The dress was sublime and not ill-fitting at all. I think people have been too used to seeing nasty body-con sprayed on bodices to recognise the beauty of this piece of couture.

^^ YES

And FFS, 36-37 is a perfectly reasonable age to have children.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 20/05/2018 02:27

One of the rare occasions that I don't RTFT, but since it's about opinions on a dress, I don't think it matters!

Meghan looked absolutely stunning. She chose so well - her dress was beautifully cut and and made. She's naturally beautiful, and the relative simplicity of the dress was perfect for her.

DistanceCall · 20/05/2018 02:27

Nice in 2004: "With regular unprotected sexual intercourse, 94% of fertile women aged 35 years, and 77% of those aged 38 years, will conceive after three years of trying."

Nice in 2013: "Over 80% of couples in the general population will conceive within one year if the woman is aged under 40 years and they do not use contraception and have regular sexual intercourse."

ItsalmostSummer · 20/05/2018 02:32

I liked the dress. I know that it wasn’t everyone’s favourite. So long as she was happy that’s all that counts, surely?

Lweji · 20/05/2018 02:35

iI wonder if she needed her arms to be covered?

I'd go with yes because it was in church and a Royal wedding.
Kate had her arms covered.
I could only really find Zara without proper sleeves.

FrogFairy · 20/05/2018 02:42

I loved the tiara and her subtle make up.

I am intrigued by the train. Even with the help of the two small boys, that is still a lot of fabric to be attached to and carried along by her head. I wonder how it was fixed so it stayed firmly in place and if it was uncomfortable.

BitOfFun · 20/05/2018 03:16

It was only a more elaborate version of IKEA tulle net curtains Grin. No weight at all, only awkwardness.

Ravenesque · 20/05/2018 03:40

I doubt very much that the dress did cost 200k. That's probably just a figure that's being bandied about.

Re design element. The designer, Clare Waight Keller, has said that she is currently going back to vintage Givenchy design for inspiration and that's very clear in the dress, which looks like something from his late 50s/early 60s Hepburn period. I could see Audrey Hepburn in that dress. Couture isn't always immediately visible to the eye, but it is in the small details.

diodati · 20/05/2018 03:47

I was surprised when I saw her dress but I didn't notice anything wrong with it. Very Givenchy / Audrey Hepburn. Fabulous! I was paying more attention to their faces and the love I saw between them, a glow that lit them both from within... THAT was priceless.

1forAll74 · 20/05/2018 04:15

Yes Meghans dress was so lovely, the wedding was lovely, and was lovely to see them both so in love.Meghan is always holding hands, and gazing into Harry's eyes. its not something that you see with other Royal weddings that are more formal.

MrsElla · 20/05/2018 04:52

*£595 not £525 but still that's not a lot of money considering how much the rest of the wedding cost them Confused
And having kids past 30 is dangerous because there's more risk of downs etc and your fertility plummets meaning you'll probably need IVF and a C section. That's what my doctor said to me when i mentioned i wanted to have 3 kids

Slapdasherie · 20/05/2018 06:08

The bateau neckline really suited her, as she has beautiful shoulders, but I didn’t think the fit around her torso was great.

She often goes for a loose, almost slouchy aesthetic, which totally worked for the halterneck dress, but with the wedding dress itself, didn’t really work with seams running down the dress and fabric being so robust. It tended to bag and look blocky.

But in any case she looked so beautiful and so happy it is quite beside the point. But you can’t say it was a well-fitting dress.

FindoGask · 20/05/2018 06:49

Some pp are getting rather cross and defensive on this thread. The dress was clearly a bit loose in the bodice, presumably because Meghan lost some weight in the week or so before the wedding (hardly surprising with all the hoo-ha).

That doesn't take anything away from the fact that it was a beautiful classic design, or that of course anyone would wish her all the happiness in the world on her wedding day, etc.

QueenofmyPrinces · 20/05/2018 06:59

I first saw the dress very briefly yesterday as I only saw it as she was getting out the car and I was watching it on the screen of my friend’s iPhone so not the best view. I said it was plain, boring, didn’t fit her and I was very disappointed and I posted earlier on this thread saying the same.

However, I decided to watch the wedding last night on BBC iPlayer and I have to say the dress grew on me and each time I saw her in it the more I thought it suited her and the more beautiful I thought she looked. I actually liked the stray hair too, it only added to her very natural beauty.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/05/2018 07:08

I see references to the cost are starting - apparently it was £100 k and Meghan paid for it herself.

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2018 07:10

I think the stray hair is almost her trademark looking back at her previous public appearances.

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2018 07:12

Whatever it cost it was money well spent . IMHO the dress was the most beautiful royal wedding dress ever . Meghan has excellent fashion sense.

SomeAreMoreEqualThanOthers · 20/05/2018 07:16

TheCraicDealer you are right about the Lady Charlotte Wellesley dress..it's stunning, and a much better fit to the bride than Meghans, sadly.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2018 07:41

There's no way the dress would've cost just £525 @MrsElla - that looks like the Mail talking about how much a replica might cost, as they often do.

And having kids beyond 35 isn't "dangerous" FGS, it's just that it can take longer!

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2018 07:43

Sorry, just realised your doctor says beyond 30 not 35. Maybe time to find one that's a bit more au fait with modern medicine!

ForalltheSaints · 20/05/2018 08:02

I think this thread is mean. This is the worst country in the world for style, I think, and so only those without a fashion faux-pas or bad taste should be the first to criticise.
