Ok so she';s been married before. But when compared to the last female to marry into the royal family who is (let's face it) a bit boring and certainly not a hard-working role model - she's lived a normal life, worked hard to make it in showbusiness and it's not her fault her father's side of the family are like they are. Plus she didn't grow up with them from what I gather. But on websites like the Daily Fail people seem to hate her. Why?

She's normal.. with baggage. She doesn't fit the fairy tale image of a princess marrying a prince

MissionItsPossible · 18/05/2018 16:33

But on websites like the Daily Fail people seem to hate her. Why?

She's not white, she's not British, she's not male...need I go on?

GummyGoddess · 18/05/2018 16:33

Given what a friend of my mother's said about her, it's snobbery. She described her as trash because family members worked at dominoes pizza.

Some people have nothing better to do than run down others, the dailyfail readers I'm sure are part of that demographic.

For the record I feel rather sorry for the poor woman and do not think she is 'trash'.

PinguDance · 18/05/2018 16:36

People are mean and like being snide - DM readers are mean about Kate Middleton too. I like Meghan, I think her family drama is very ‘relatable’ and I don’t see why it bothers people. The fact she’s American seems to rile people as well as her being an actress, probably unconscious racism/classism too.

Lemonsmakelemonade · 18/05/2018 16:37

Reading through the comments (I've way too much time on my hands today) people commenting on the MM stories are raving about how wonderful the DoC is. If I had to hang out with one of them I know who I'd choose!

I have posted on a couple of Royal wedding threads now. I don't know why people are so nasty towards her. There just seems to be a growing trend towards saying awful things about anyone famous. I think she will actually go on to be a very popular member of the Royal Family.

KurriKurri · 18/05/2018 16:39
  1. she seems to have her own mind, and had a succesful career before she met Harry. Dm readers don't like independent women.
2.Her nationality
  1. Her ethnicity
  2. She's been married before
  3. Her family are even worse than Kate's

(These are what I think DM reader's objections are - I think she seems pleasant enough, and I don't actually care if she isn't)

All the obvious things really. Most people I've spoken to dislike her - they says she is calculating and a gold digger.

Personally I think Harry's done pretty well . She's wealthy, attractive, reasonably intelligent, successful. For someone who is essentially a minor royal, sixth in line to the throne, no chance of being anything except a spare part and a ribbon cutter, he's managed to marry way above himself.

I’ve just had a look at the comments. They’re awful!

It’s as if they've known her personally for years, instead of the few snippets we actually know about her.

PinguDance · 18/05/2018 16:42

@karyatide - those blogs about BC’s wife are barmy aren’t they, especially when it seems obvious to me that BC is the one who has trapped her into marriage Grin she always has a desperate pleading look in her eye when they’re photographed together

Perfectly1mperfect · 18/05/2018 16:44

People are mean and like being snide

Pingu I think you are right with the above reason. I don't even think it's racism, snobbery etc with most people. People seem to just have this bitchy side especially when it comes to famous people. Confused

feral · 18/05/2018 16:46

I love her. She's refreshing and I hope she manages to shake the family up a bit.

As for her less pleasant family members, well, the royals probably have a lot to hide too but they have a big machine behind them keeping it all quiet.

Good luck to them 😊

Glassofredandapackofcrisps · 18/05/2018 16:46

Yes the daily mail commenters had plenty to say about Kate till mm appeared on the scene. Vile bunch.

Fairyliz · 18/05/2018 16:47

Well I wouldn't be nasty to her, I'm not actually likely to meet her but she does come across as a bit fake.

She appears to have dumped everyone she knew prior to 'Suits' and is only inviting one relative, her mum to the wedding out of 600 people attending. One of her uncles works at an embassy so surely he is socially acceptable?
It was reported that she had a boyfriend who was a chef but he soon disappeared when Harry came on the scene. All in all she sometimes gives the impression of being a user out for what she can get.

This might all be a load of rubbish mind and its just her Americanism that grates.

Metoodear · 18/05/2018 16:47

She is mixed raced

She is American and she is new money an actress dispite hare haveing money it will still be views as low rent in Harry’s circles

Nikephorus · 18/05/2018 16:48

I don't like her because she comes across as fake & playing a part. I don't give a toss what colour she is (to be honest I think that's probably a good thing & it's a shame her skin isn't more the colour of her mother's), or that she's not British, but it's all a bit too huggy, clingy, looking at the camera for my liking (and she left one of her dogs behind!). Equally I don't like Kate because she's lazy & planned the whole marrying William thing - I'd probably rate MM slightly higher because at least she has worked, has done some charitable work (though I reckon it was for the publicity) & doesn't have a pushy social-climbing mother.

WeareStardustWeareGolden · 18/05/2018 16:49

I think she's fab and will be a breath of fresh air to the Royal family. How anyone could not wish Harry all the happiness is beyond me. I remember that poor boy walking behind his mother's coffin. He has spoken openly about his depression and mental health etc. Shame on all the people who can't say anything nice.

Metoodear · 18/05/2018 16:49

Fairyliz Also I do believe she didn’t attend her best friends wedding because she didn’t want to babasked about harry

Glassofredandapackofcrisps · 18/05/2018 16:50

A lot of dm nasty comments are actually American!
Maybe they want the royal family kept British?
I personally think the comments are fuelled by jealousy and racism.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 18/05/2018 16:55

She appears to

This really is the key. She's being judged by the side of her the media have chosen to show us. We know very little about her other than what a lot of the rotten tabloids have made her appear to be.

Mercurial123 · 18/05/2018 16:56

She's from a dysfunctional family so is he they have an understanding. I really don't get how people have such strong feelings about people they have never met.

PoorYorick · 18/05/2018 17:10

The Daily Mail would hate her if she were a white 21 year old aristocrat with a certification of virginity and high fertility. It hates all women. It's very fair and egalitarian in that regard.
