to wonder why there seems so much nastiness directed at MM?

Ok so she';s been married before. But when compared to the last female to marry into the royal family who is (let's face it) a bit boring and certainly not a hard-working role model - she's lived a normal life, worked hard to make it in showbusiness and it's not her fault her father's side of the family are like they are. Plus she didn't grow up with them from what I gather. But on websites like the Daily Fail people seem to hate her. Why?

Yeh I’m fed up with the vitriol. She obviously doesn’t fit the stereotypical princess but they’re thin on the ground. Perhaps people would rather she were different but they’re not marrying her. She is Harry’s chosen bride and that should be enough. Thank goodness he’s allowed to marry who he chooses instead of being pushed into an arranged marriage like his father.

Lemonsmakelemonade · 18/05/2018 17:43

Personally I think Harry's done pretty well . She's wealthy, attractive, reasonably intelligent, successful. For someone who is essentially a minor royal, sixth in line to the throne, no chance of being anything except a spare part and a ribbon cutter, he's managed to marry way above himself. Agree!

I obviously read differently and know different people. I haven't heard anything "except poor woman, that family sounds hard work" and "good for the royals for allowing this to happen" (compared to what happened for Charles and Di, where a "suitable" marriage was arranged over his wishes)

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/05/2018 17:55

I don’t agree with him marrying above himself. He’s royal. Royalty trumps a tv actor.

MeanTangerine · 18/05/2018 17:57

Famous women get slagged off.

Kate gets slagged off because she is perceived as too perfect and boring. Meghan gets slagged off because she is perceived as not perfect and boring enough.

Plus ca change.

derxa · 18/05/2018 18:20

She seems utterly fake and a bit of a user. I haven't a clue though since I've never met her or had any dealings with her. I hope she doesn't break Harry's heart. It may work out well. I hope so.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 18/05/2018 18:22

Racist and/or snobby arseholes, that’s all.

Mercurial123 · 18/05/2018 18:26

I'm not a Royalist but REALLY hope they have a long and happy marriage. I have no idea why she would be considered a user and fake she is successful and had a very nice life before meeting Harry. Some people need to step away from the tabloids.

troodiedoo · 18/05/2018 18:29

Always makes me laugh when someone always a woman is described as fake. What does that even mean?

I think she's well smart.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 18/05/2018 18:34

Kate is disliked by some for being presented as "representing" our country Hmm
I hate the image and the idea that she can be used as a role model in any way shape or form. She is exactly what I don't want my daughters to be!

MM I think attract more jealous and racists people.
She is not an English rose (clearly), she is American, divorced, so everything she does is being picked on to try to show her as some kind of gold digger.
I do like her, she always appeared super friendly in her interviews, she had a career - maybe not Nobel Price wise - she was genuinely involved in charities, she had a life, a personality and has her own style. I hope her marriage brings her happiness. DM readers will never forgive her for having a black mother. Too bad for them.

The influence of Paul Dacre I suspect

shizzlethenizzley · 18/05/2018 18:41

I think it’s because she’s playing the blushing bride when it’s her third time down the aisle. Her time for that has passed! They should have had a MUCH smaller, intimate ‘do.’

shizzlethenizzley · 18/05/2018 18:42

And because she’s wildly exaggerated the extent of her charity work.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 18/05/2018 18:45

This is a bit catty. It's Harry's first marriage and they wanted a big celebrarion. Why on earth shouldn't they have one?

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 18/05/2018 18:53

Because no one will ever be good enough for St Diana’s sons! Kate & her family have had their fair share. Although I accept it’s been worse for MM partly because her own jealous family could not wish her well.

troodiedoo · 18/05/2018 18:56

It is smaller by royal standards! Hmm

LaurieMarlow · 18/05/2018 19:04

God not in my book. Royalty just means you came out of a 'royal' vagina. No skill or effort involved there.

Echobelly · 18/05/2018 19:08

I think it's racism and anti-American snobbery.... she does seem to be being portrayed by some as 'pushy' and 'overambitious' on no grounds that I can see at all. I don't know much about her, but I can't see evidence that she's like that, it just seems to be a narrative parts of the media have decided on.

Dahlietta · 18/05/2018 19:09

I'm with you, Laurie!

KappaKappa · 18/05/2018 19:20

I don’t understand the animosity and horrible comments either. It’s not just in DM - there are also threads on mumsnet which have been really vile about MM.

ElliePhillips · 18/05/2018 20:21

He’s royal. Royalty trumps a tv actor.

On what planet?! Explain to me what great skills and training Harry embarked on to ensure that he came out of Diana's vagina in 1980-something as opposed to Mrs Joe Bloggs' nether regions.

It is madness to think that someone BORN into wealth and status is better than someone who has earned it like Meghan.

ShweShwe · 18/05/2018 20:25

It's the Daily Mail effect isn't it. They've been coming over here in droves in the last week and really ramping up the hate.
I feel so so sorry for people whose lives are so empty, whose ambitions are so minimal and whose prospects are so non-existent that they have to spend their days and nights spitting vitriol at someone who has done them no harm and never will.

Step forward - on this thread - a fine example of the genre Nikephorous who sounds absolutely vile.

ElliePhillips · 18/05/2018 20:26

Laurie just saw your post after posting my reply above. Exactly!

To the person who said it’s her third time down the aisle Second. It is her second marriage. Stop reading the DM, it is rotting your brain cells.

Smellylittleorange · 18/05/2018 20:26

People believe shite written in rags like the Daily Mail.

Semster · 18/05/2018 20:29

Hate sells more nasty tabloids than anything else, and people are stupid enough to believe what they read, then repeat it as if it's somehow their well-thought-out opinion.
