It appears we haven't quite finished workshopping the ethical issues of 'influencing' on Instagram: disclose of advertising, the exploitation of minors and the similarities to MLM schemes.

Those are the ones mentioned lots on here I follow.
I follow lots of smaller ones too that aren't as big and well known but still good.

Cb and StyleMesunday have effectively told people to shut the fck up today*

I love the message CB gives out but of late she has really disappointed me. The promotion of FOD's book made me suspect that when her book comes out (it's in the making) she is hoping he will give it a mention. As someone who pretends has no clue in raising children I would have thought that this was someone that CB would be appalled by; she seems to want and have a very 50:50 parenting role with her husband.

Also very surprised about her 'be kind' stance. Yes, be kind when it is appropriate, but I thought coming from someone who is aware of power imbalance whether it is due to race, wealth, position etc she would step up a bit more and address this better.

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 20:41

Cady. Yep but the ones who don't crop up on here? And what about DLAM, StyleMesunday, CB, DMBL40, MP, clemmie Telford, Erica Davies, pink living, homelineonline, bees knees, Kirsty the farmers wife, Martha? - to name but a few that I have personally mentioned.

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 20:44

LastNight I so agree with you. I am so disappointed by CB. I thought she was empowered and inspiring. Her FOD fawn was a surprise and her message today to shut up if you don't agree was a shock. Unfollowed.

Boredandtired · 17/05/2018 20:46

@Babaloo88 the ridiculous thing is, no one needs to know how many hours she works doing whatever the heck she wants. No one needs to know how much the kudscare in nursery/she's an author it's actually her own business but if she's going to share it and moan how can she complain when it's discussed Hmm I've no idea MP's weekly plan or in fact anyone else's therefore notably there's no comments about what people do.
If you make being a 'profession' part of your business and then are open about your exact working hours and where you work etc why be surprised when it's discussed? It's all so odd. Sell your life for cash, complain when there's opinion on that.

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 20:47

Would you mind sharing Cady? I'm always up for recommendations. We've all agreed (I think) that we are on a round discussing the same handful of people.

CadyHeron · 17/05/2018 20:50

Martha - forgot I follow her too, lovely feed.
Off top of my head A Mummy Too (like this one as lots of lovely food too as well as parenting Smile The Simple Mum, Mrs Meldrum...

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 20:53

Ps that's really interesting Cady, that you follow mod but not fod. Out of sheer nosiness I can't imagine not following both if I was going to bother. I know lots of people must feel the same as you, hence the disparity in their followers. Do you follow FOD for the twins? (Ps I've blocked both now because the algorithm just kept showing me their posts, despite never having followed them).

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 20:54

Ok thanks Cady I'll have a look at them. Martha's account is very pretty, I agree.

totallyliterally · 17/05/2018 20:56

Stylemesunday insta "if you're not lying my bill... you can shut up'

Well actually if your bills are being paid by the sponsored posts, yes we are. As quite possibly products we are buying pay for the advertising with you.

Or am I missing the point? She gets paid because she has an audience?

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:00

Quite, Totally. Also unfollowed! Going to end up with an empty feed at this rate...

Who is Martha?

CadyHeron · 17/05/2018 21:03

Neverwas - I think FOD appeals to me more than MOD as I'm more interested in the hapless parenting angle than birth stories/midwife/pretty dresses and decor angle Smile

Spring - Martha's happily ever after.

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:05

Spring she's Martha's happily ever after. I reckon she's the next MOD. You heard it here first Grin

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:06

Martha's a tad flexible with #ad too....

HolyMountain · 17/05/2018 21:06

SMS blagged her last holiday wardrobe with pleading/begging ‘hit me up and I’ll promote you’ posts , it was embarrassing .

Then her last post , ha!Grin

Moonkissedlegs · 17/05/2018 21:08

Who is CB?

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:09

Cady ok interesting. I don't buy that angle though, do you? He looks like a really nice parent when he's (ocassionally) being normal.

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:10

Soz excuse my shocking typos 🙈

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:10

Moonkissed Candice Brathwaite

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:12

True Homymountain but she rarely showed her kids and I liked her body positive agenda (that mod hijacked imo).

NeverWas · 17/05/2018 21:12

Sorry HolyMountain.
