Irony alert: Meghan Markle’s Dad

Sorry, found this hilarious. Meghan Markle’s Dad has staged some pics with the paparizzo to send out a message re his DDs wedding (ie he is going).

This is being reported by the press in a vv ‘tut tut aren’t her family awful’ manner.

Am I alone in finding this hilariously hypocritical? I remember St Diana getting caught in a car with Richard Kay from the Daily Mail and she wrote a book secretly with Daily Express journalist Andrew Morton.

Plus who had those pics front page the day they were taken? That’s right. The Daily Mail!

I am not a Meghan fan at all. But I got up this morning and looked at the papers and felt like I had gone done a rabbit hole when I saw her Das being slated for this supposedly ‘unroyal’ behaviour which is actually the most royal thing in the world ever.

I really hope MM is having a happy time in the lead up to her wedding and putting all this behind her and getting on with happy preparations.

It'll be pretty much about the four of them until George, Charlotte, Louis and Harry/Meghan's kids grow up. Sophie was married to the most unpopular brother (although it's all relative), and was never of that much interest. By the time she was on the scene too William and Harry had grown up quite a bit - late teens perhaps.

Maybe Megan didn't want Harry meeting her father. My husband wouldn't have visited my dad if I'd asked him not to and said we didn't get on. Megan has had lots of opportunities to visit her father and has chosen not to.
Lots of people on here choose not to have much to do with various family members. Would they suddenly pretend it was happy families if they were marrying a prince to keep the media and a load of strangers happy?

We don't know how often MM has seen her dad in the time she's known Harry. Given her dad was supposed to be giving her away why wouldn't Harry meet him or why wouldn't she want them to meet? Unless he was never going to give her away and it was all set up by KP to make it look like he was, which is a bit far-fetched. It's hard to tell what the truth is.

Two years ago she posted on instagram how wonderful he was so presumably they were still ok at that point.

Yes, agree. It's clear that they're not that close and have lost touch, and she has asked him to give her away for aesthetic purposes. My parents were involved in the detail of my wedding. Because we are close. I don't see how they have a good relationship if he was going to come in just a few days beforehand. It's clear she is only close to her mum. I don't think Harry helped with his "it's the family she never had" comment. That just added fuel to the fire,

What gets me is her Dad is a bankrupt, so it's not really shocking that someone said ok we'll give you money for pictures, he said ok.

You have to 'assume' that he needed the money, that he was getting little financial support from elsewhere to even take the offer.

I don't see why it should stop him walking her down the aisle.

If you remember before the last Royal wedding they were desperately trying to find skeletons in the Middleton closet.

It's weird as it's almost like the DM want a total break from tradition that would see perhaps Mum walking her down the aisle. But given well.. the DM, it's a strange thing to orchestrate.

Germaine Greer says that Meghan already asked for her Mum to give her away and was ignored. If that’s true I think that’s really shitty. But she did also say she thought Prince Philip might euthanise himself to stop the wedding, so I do take what she says with a pinch of salt, bless her.

I reckon this is all the evil stepsisters doing. I reckon she said ‘I have a contact in the press, pose for a few pics to show you’re going and you’ll be left alone. But her plan was to make money from ‘exposing’ him doing that which would have made her 20 x the money a pic of him getting measured for a suit would.

If - if - it's true that Meghan was denied a request for her mum to give her away, in her shoes I'd now be saying 'Right, my mum does it or there won't be a wedding'. They'd have to agree now. And in this situation if Harry was a decent fiance he'd back her up in that and say they'd both run away to Vegas now if her mum wasn't allowed to do it.
