The red dress worn by the Duchess of Cambridge

It was practically identical to the one worn by Mia Farrow in Rosemary's baby, right down to the lace collar, just a different shade of red. I mean huge royal photo shoots like the one where she stood on the steps holding her baby are never by chance. Intense planning goes into official shoots like that. I just found it rather strange. Aibu to think it a strange choice. Anyone else, or am i being silly.

A different shade of red dress, the collar was white, i should have said.

I naturally assumed that someone in their entourage has evidence that Louis is the son of Satan and can think of no other way to blow the whistle.

DuchyDuke · 11/05/2018 12:46

Inside joke?

icedcoke · 11/05/2018 12:47

I must add, i'm really not implying that, but it was such an odd choice. In fact i don't think she would have chosen it, directions from the palace maybe?

I thought it was a private joke too, and they must have had a bet on how long it would take people to go from homage to Diana to Rosemary's baby.

No way would the stylists miss that

GrouchyKiwi · 11/05/2018 12:50

It's very similar to the dress Diana wore when Harry was born. And it was St George's Day so red and white was most likely a nod to that too.

elmo1980 · 11/05/2018 12:50

I thought it was more a nod to what princess di wore on one of her hospital shots.

icedcoke · 11/05/2018 12:51

Isn't it a strange joke though. Hmm

Wasn't this in the tabloids about 2 weeks ago?!

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 11/05/2018 12:51

They might also just have gone for that dress - style and colour - then decided to keep it or make it more like the other one. It's a nice dress.

I wish I could have posed for photos for 5 minutes that way, then have a good 6 months of luxury to recover of course I am jealous!

icedcoke · 11/05/2018 12:53

Yes similar to Diana's but apart from the different shade of red, identical to Mia Farrows, even the three quarter length sleeves.

it was on social media on the 23rd April Grin

I’ve never seen the film and I’m in my forties.

I’m sure there are millions of people who haven’t seen the film.

I've never seen the film, but i was shocked at the huge similarities. I mean i've never known the palace to make hidden jokes in clothes before.

Its a desperate attempt to keep us interested in the Royal Fam for a few more years Grin

I don't think that would really be relevant if there was any deliberate intent. A quick google and everyone would be aware.

What? A dress somoene wore in a film in 1968 is the same as a dress worn today? Shows that fashion goes in circles, I suppose.

And I'm sure that Kate gets to choose her own clothes...

FizzyGreenWater · 11/05/2018 13:15

They didn't realise.

Otherwise they would never have chosen it!

They're slightly kicking themselves but it's not really gone viral as such has it.

But, of ALL the films-!!!

Hereshopingforimprovement · 11/05/2018 13:18

It does look remarkably similar. An accident I'm sure but anyone on this thread who hasn't seem the film must rectify this. Great film of a fabulous book.

icedcoke · 11/05/2018 13:18

But the thing is, it's not in fashion. But that particular dress from THAT film. I'm sure she wouldn't have picked that herself. It's a strange choice, a bit creepy if i'm honest.

MadMags · 11/05/2018 13:21

Does it matter?

I’m not talking about discussing it but I’m saying; is it really significant??

icedcoke · 11/05/2018 13:22

I can't believe that they wouldn't have realised. It would have been too huge of a coincidence. They must have known, the dress seems to have been modelled on the original. The lace collar, the sleeves.....

OP posts:
ikeepaforkinmypurse · 11/05/2018 13:25

it doesn't really matter, but for someone who is only about her public image and appearance, it's a strange choice.

Maybe it was a joke from a stylist that went further than expected because no one picked it up until they saw the comments. Who knows.
