People who park over the lines in a car park...

... deliberately, so that no one can use the space next to them, should be fined as if they were parked without a ticket Angry

If your car is that fucking precious, get a fucking cab!

everybody I've spoken to who has one has agreed they're a nightmare in car parks. There's been articles about it.

So why drive the bloody thing then? Change your car if it’s so impractical.

blaaake · 11/05/2018 20:32

@caoraich I have no issues with parking, I'm quite good at it actually. And as you mention it, I often used to drive a van for business purposes.

@SimonBridges you sound quite unpleasant. My car is extremely practical for me, dh and the 4 dc, not that I have to justify that. Buy one, you know you want to Wink

The car park at my local ASDA has tiny spaces. I can't get my twins in or out of the car if I park in a normal space with a car either side. Ridiculous really!

If you drive a large car, you should be able to park it with consideration for other parkers.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/05/2018 21:01

I squeezed into a space next to a massive Range Rover taking up two spaces today. Can't blame other bad parking as they were on an end. I had a shirty note 😂

Blaake. Deliberately parking to take up two spaces is quite unpleasant too you know. There is no excuse.

I hate idiots who swing their doors open with no consideration for the car next to them so I will on very rare occasions take two spaces to avoid it. When I have, it is usually when there is a small bay just big enough for two cars - I use both so nobody can park next to me.

BUT, before people get their pitch forks out: I always, without fail, also park in the farthest, quietest section of car parks in the spaces nobody wants because most people are too lazy to walk the length of a car park. Or I will park away from a shop with tight spaces and walk.

However, as has already been mentioned, even though I do that, 9 times out of 10, when I return there will be another car parked right next to mine amidst a sea of empty spaces!!! It’s like people think their car needs company while they’re gone! Or that’s the only explanation we’ve ever come up with!

So, on top of parking in the farthest corner, I also try and park along side a kerb or hatched area or at the end of a line and then I park as close to the kerb or whatever as I possible can to give the twat who I know will park next to me more room to avoid hitting my car.

If I have to park in a busy car park I do the same thing, but add spaces next to disabled or P&C spaces to my list of potential parking spots.

Lastly, I am careful what cars I will park next to! Cars covered in dints, people carriers with evidence of lots of children and two door cars are avoided whenever possible.

I will happily wait until a suitable space pops up too.

So, you may occasionally see my car across two bays but it’s unlikely to bother you as it won’t be where most people want to park.

I am extremely careful not to smack my door into other cars and our chlldren never have either. If we have to park in a ‘normal’ space and space is tight, we put our hand around the edge of our door when opening it to make sure we don’t hit the next car.

However, given the lengths I go to and also knowing I am rarely parked in the busy section of a car park, if some twat parks so close to me that my only option is to clamber across seats or risk scratching their car, I’m afraid I go for the latter and I feel no shame about that.
