... deliberately, so that no one can use the space next to them, should be fined as if they were parked without a ticket Angry

If your car is that fucking precious, get a fucking cab!

What doesn’t fit in a parking bay? Even Luton vans are wide enough to fit in bays (might be too long mind!)

blaaake · 08/05/2018 20:30

Audi sq7

This weekend, I saw a man parking in a garden centre smack in the middle of 4 spaces (with the cross underneath his vehicle). I thought he must be a total arsehole. There’s no way he didn’t realise what he’d done (or, if he didn’t, he should definitely not have been driving!).

coldhardbitch · 08/05/2018 20:39

You should see how people park at my local hospital.

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 08/05/2018 20:40

Blake your parking isn’t so great! It’s a standard width SUV- smaller than many others

HunterHearstHelmsley · 08/05/2018 20:43

I've been known to squeeze in the gap if there aren't any other spaces left. I'm not going to not park because someone is being arrogant.

SaltireSaltire · 08/05/2018 20:44

Wow - you can find somewhere to park at your hospital?

Mia184 · 08/05/2018 20:47

This is what happened to a car that was parked over the lines for two weeks. The owner also got a fine. Grin

Saw a huge 4x4 bmw parked across the zebra crossing today outside Sainsbury's
I had just got my phone out to take a photo to show dh the selfish parking then realised the woman with a trolly full of shopping walking in front of me unlock it and unload her trolley...it wasnt like she had even run in for a pint of milk .
I was gobsmacked but didn't have the nerve to carry on and take photo .

StillMedusa · 08/05/2018 20:55

I drive the smallest car there is a Smart Roadster... so can park just about anywhere. But it has large doors and the number of times I have had to limbo into it because some prat in a giant SUV has parked six inches from my side..obviously they need 'my' space too. Drives me nuts!

blaaake · 08/05/2018 21:29

@Sprinklesinmyelbow errr okay then, I'm happy to give you a go in my car to try and get it into a standard space which is 4.8 metres long and 2.4 metres wide, when my car is 5.08 metres long and 2.21 metres wide Confused

curiousgeorgie247 · 08/05/2018 21:32

I think people do it so people can't park next to them so they don't get their precious audi scratched. I have to admit people who swing car doors open on my car without a second thought pisses me off but I wouldn't park like a dickhead because of it

forgotMyusernameAgain · 08/05/2018 22:15

@blaaake the audi s7 is under 2m wide according to the official specs. What you got extra trim on yours? Grin. I have an x-type estate, just over 2 m wide, standard spaces are fine as long as there is room to swing her in there. Never been tempted to use multiple spaces but have looked like i parked like a twonk when the cars next to mine leave and i find it diagonally in a space because thats how everyone else was

Either way, how would you plan to actually get out of the car with 10cm either side?

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2018 22:20

In our town you would be fined for parking outside of the bay.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 08/05/2018 22:25

We have a clown at work who parks his Ford Asbo across two spaces. It's quite remarkable how many HGV drivers use lipstick, given that only 6% of them are male.

RunYouJuiceBitch · 08/05/2018 23:10

My car is old, so the dimensions are much smaller than its modern equivalent. It fits comfortably into the majority of parking spaces.

I am also a stickler for tidy parking, so I'm never over the lines.

Unfortunately people still see fit to crack their doors into the side of my car, no doubt thinking 'it's old and already scuffed, who cares?' Yes, there are quite a few dints along it, all of which were caused by third parties. Hmm

I tend to park in quiet parts of the car park where possible for this reason.

MrsWembley · 09/05/2018 09:30

Really quite shocked about the number of P&C comments here and no one has come back to rant about entitlement or P&C spaces being unnecessary/unenforceable/up for grabs to all and sundry!Shock

Normally, any mention of P&C spaces will garner a fair few replies berating the poster for expecting any kind of sympathy...

And those Audi specs do say 2.2m if you include the wing mirrors!!!Hmm

I parked in Tesco last week next to a car that wasn't parked brilliantly. I managed to get out of the car (just) and wandered into the shop. Came out and noticed two women looking at their car and mine and struggling to work out how they were going to get in.

Obviously I decided to just stand and watch them for five minutes until the driver finally managed to get in (although my car is brand new, it's supplied by work so a paint chip wouldn't be a problem). As soon as she got in and started to pull out so her friend could load the car with their shopping, I breezily wandered up to the car and unlocked it. The dirty looks I got from the bad parkers really made me smile.

Luisa27 · 09/05/2018 11:01

YES!!!! @CalF123 😂

ToadOfSadness · 09/05/2018 11:16

I am thinking of buying these www.obscenitycards.com/stop-parking-like-a-cunt-stickers

IronMansIronButt · 09/05/2018 11:21

What if I park over the lines purely because I'm shit at parking?

bettytaghetti · 09/05/2018 11:25

I had to park slightly over the line the other day because the car in the space next to it was right up to the line on my side and I wouldn't have been able to get out of the car. There was no point parking in the other space because the car was up to the line on that side too. When I came back to it later, the other car had moved and so I looked like a knob for my dodgy parking. Are you going to blame me in that situation? I do try to always be considerate of other drivers despite being a BMW driver, honest!

MrsDilber · 09/05/2018 11:46

I agree with you. I hope they do get fined. CFers.
