In response to one of Trump’s incoherent WITCH HUNT! tweets in the last 12 hours, Rep. Adam Schiff sent this:

Adam Schiff Retweeted Donald J. Trump

Given all the secret meetings with the Russians, the denials, the false statements, and the guilty pleas, your attacks on the Republican, respected, decorated, Vietnam Veteran running the investigation could not be more false, or transparent.

An interesting piece by Ms Maddow, mainly on how the DOJ seems to be rolling on its back to allow its belly to be tickled. It would depress me, unutterably, if I agreed with her entirely. She doesn't really deal with the interesting question of Jefferson Beauregard's position, though. Smile

The former Director of National Intelligence now says Russia gave Trump the 2016 presidential election.

That's a bombshell. And it confirms what tens of millions of Americans believe: that this presidency is morally and ethically (and perhaps legally) illegitimate.

“Of course the Russian efforts affected the outcome. Surprising even themselves, they swung the election to a Trump win. To conclude otherwise stretches logic, common sense, and credulity to the breaking point. Less than eighty thousand votes in three key states swung the election. I have no doubt that more votes than that were influenced by this massive effort by the Russians.”

OK Resisters - Are we ready for this?
(And which royal plays golf and has no pride... Andrew, me thinks...?)

"as pleasurable as possible"

Donald Trump is expected to head to Scotland after his visit to London on 13 July to play golf with a high quality professional golfer or possibly a member of the royal family.

The president is being offered a range of low handicap golfers as a part of a UK government bid to make the visit as pleasurable as possible for him.

More on the Clapper book. He was interviewed by Rachel last night:

Curious about your Sessions comment, cozie. Say more? 🙂

Do you think we'll all live to see a time when the word "trump" is never, ever spoken again?

The president on Tuesday also appealed a decision that allowed Manhattan condo Trump Place to remove the “Trump” sign from its façade.

No doubt we'll soon see President Twunt bragging about the benefits of his tax breaks, with companies such as the ultimately american Harley Davidson taking jobs away from the US and repurchasing shares instead of investing in the business.

Well done GOP and SCROTUS.

Impressive speech by Stacey Abrams.

ohmymimi · 23/05/2018 10:48

Makes a welcome change for us to be able to report some good news. Yes, Stacey Abrams' speech was inspiring, Lweji.

PerkingFaintly · 23/05/2018 11:00

Maddow highlights a detail from Clapper's book illuminating the effectiveness and perniciousness of micro-targeted advertising.

"Looking at the savvy ways the Russians targeted specific voter groups – for instance, buying advertisements on Facebook promoting Clinton's support of the Black Lives Matter movement and ensuring those ads ran only on the pages of white conservative voters in swing states..."

(At 6.07 mins in the segment James Clapper on Russia: 'They swung the election to a Trump win' www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/watch/james-clapper-on-russia-they-swung-the-election-to-a-trump-win-1239786051725?playlist=associated&v=a )

So, an advert which might have attracted black voters to Clinton, carefully wasn't shown to them.

In fact we know from other evidence that black voters were shown adverts intended to suppress them from voting Clinton or voting at all.

Re. the peril Cohen indictment brings: This point from an earlier Bloomberg article came up in one of last night's shows (I can't now recall by whom or which show). It was stressed that Cohen actually came quite late to the party. Greenblatt and Weisselberg at Trump Org. could be much more dangerous to Scumbucket, as both had a longer and closer business association with him.
'Now that special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed the Trump Organization for business records, his investigators may get around to interviewing Greenblatt and Weisselberg, who almost certainly have more expansive information on the president's business activities than Cohen does.

If that happens or if the U.S. attorney's office in New York takes a similar interest then the media might have to reassess its take on Cohen and the role he's playing in the broader drama surrounding the White House.'
