To be annoyed that my washing will be ruined

Just opened all the windows in the house and realised that our next door neighbours are having a BBQ...At 9am.
It’s onviously the first time they’ve used it this year as it’s bellowing smelly smoke, that I initially thought was a bonfire.
I have two loads of washing on the line.
I actually quite like the smell of bonfires (although in this case it’s a BBQ) so wouldn’t normally be bothered but I’m a bit pissed off that the two loads I was up early to do will be ruined!

9AM BBQ? Confused

MarthasGinYard · 06/05/2018 09:16

Wonder if they are cleaning it or having a warm up sausage bap....

yumscrumfatbum · 06/05/2018 09:32

In the summer my neighbours cook all their meals on the BBQ at the weekend. Stinks my house out!

Fruitcorner123 · 06/05/2018 09:36

This would annoy me too but really they do have a right to do it. Can you get you washing in quickly and put it on an airer?

lanbury · 06/05/2018 09:43

Hopefully the smoke will die down quite quickly once the coals hot up, the smokey bit generally tends to be more when it's first lit.

CuppaSarah · 06/05/2018 09:46

You have two loads of washing out by 9am?! I'm very impressed!

PotteringAlong · 06/05/2018 09:48

I really wish I’d BBQ’d breakfast now...!

PlatypusPie · 06/05/2018 09:48

Are they burning off the grill ?

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 06/05/2018 09:51

Currently having a breakfast bbq, nothing beats it.

MarthasGinYard · 06/05/2018 09:52

I want one now Hmm

Marmite27 · 06/05/2018 09:53

We had this discussion yesterday. DH did all the washing last night to have on the line before church to avoid bbqs.

I’d be well pissed off if someone had one lit at 9am.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2018 09:59

Used to BBQ daily when I lived in a place with a great climate. But nobody seemed to mind as they were doing it, too. Never heard of people being upset over BBQ smell until I got on MN.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/05/2018 09:59

Grrr. How annoying. I suppose you’ll just have to do a quick wash or rinse cycle depending how smoky they are.

AlleyG · 06/05/2018 10:02

Completely U of the neighbours

I fucking hate BBQs, they’re so anti-social. Just fuck off, the whole world doesn’t want to smell your disgusting charcoal meat feast and overhear your dumbass conversations. Cook your tea inside you selfish cunts so that your neighbours can have their washing out or windows open or sit in their gardens in peace

Missingstreetlife · 06/05/2018 10:03

Fgs. Bring it in and put it out later when BBQ finished.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 06/05/2018 10:04

BBQ'd breakfast.... 😋

GreenTulips · 06/05/2018 10:04

It's rude! They should've knocked and let you know to get it in.

Lucisky · 06/05/2018 10:06

AlleyG are you being ironic or are you always full of such bile?

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 06/05/2018 10:11

Delightful person aren’t you AlleyG

Springnowplease · 06/05/2018 10:11

I'm with AllyG, actually. Although I wouldn't have phrased it so strongly.

Anti-social and selfish. I don't want to smell your dinner, cook it indoors like a normal person, this isn't the wild woods and you aren't bushmen.

Shadow666 · 06/05/2018 10:15

Our old neighbors used to light bonfires to burn garden waste. All my mum asked was to let us know so she could get her washing in. They never did though.

We did BBQ this weekend though, but in the evening. Its fun eating out sometimes.

StayingAtTamaras · 06/05/2018 10:16

In my old house our next door neighbours would have BBQs as soon as it was sunny, it constantly ruined our washing and made the whole house smell but there's nothing you can do about it :(

currently dealing with down stairs neighbours who chain smoke cigarettes in their garden under our windows causing our whole house to stink, so frustrating but again, nothing i can do!

WomaninGreen · 06/05/2018 10:16

I thought AlleyG was spot on.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 06/05/2018 10:16

I'm with AlleyG on this one.

Eolian · 06/05/2018 10:17

1st world problem. If people were a bit less invested in the cotton-fresh smell of their washing and a bit more accepting of their neighbours doing perfectly normal stuff cooking outside (something humans have done forever), then the world would probably be a happier place.
